Tv series that raise the bar one step higher
soeprijo1914 September 2021
You like K-drama?! Now watch this one. This week was the 4th episode of Lost and I can say that this is the best K-drama series I have ever watched yet. The plot, the conflict, the setting, the artists, even the quality of the pictures yells out loud the standard of big screen.

Kudos to the director, writers and editors for the good jobs they've done. Definitely a series that's worth watching.

Not your regular K-drama
louph_puccino1 November 2021
I must admit that at first I watched this because of Jun Yeol. But damn this is too real, the plot is superb, each character's acting is top notch, the conversations are deep. This is a K-Drama for people who seek for real conversations between grown-ups who are matured enough to go through all the tough stuff and talk about it with a cool head.

The drama truly portrays how you can be with someone for a long time but they are the last person who really knows about you. They are together but they are growing apart, and apparently, what you need is not a person who just be there for you, but a person who understands you.

I felt sad and depressed watching this and need to detox myself by watching Running Man. Yes, their acting is that good. I was totally immersed in the story.

A Beautiful Drama with Beautiful Music.
NajmiSelamat8 November 2021
For me this drama really catch my feelings. I watch from the first episode till the last episode smoothly without skip. What I really love about this drama is the music overall and the story. I can relate with both main character. But many people will not like this drama. I even read some article that say this drama was place second for the worst k-drama this year. It says that the 17 people who vote this drama is from the insider which I don't know why. Maybe because they feel like there is no solid solution for the both main character till the end. For me, in this drama doesn't have a really bad people or a really good people. They are just being human. Also, I really like the ending. Even though we don't know if Bu Jeong was divorced with his husband or not, I really like where they confess to each other about their wrong feeling at that time.

In a nutshell, I definitely will remember this drama for a really long time. I really appreciate this drama and it really give me some inspirations about life.

Quite breathtaking
sonia-951118 December 2021
It's taken me a while to watch this masterpiece because each episode is laden with layers of thought provoking stuff. It's really a journey though ones life and how easy it is to become, well, lost. That's what this series was for me. And how intricate and delicate the human experience is, communication and relationships. How we loose one another if we're not. Life is precious and precarious. This series is exquisitely written and performed and the soundtrack is a masterpiece. Evocative and hauntingly beautiful. Well worth the time to watch it and the 10 I gave it!! It deserves to be much more popular than it is!!! RyuJunYeol Bravo!!!! What a performance!!!!!

I'm not a K-drama addict but this one makes me rethink
yinnyein-0227712 October 2021
Just start watching this without searching any synopsis on any site. JTBC made a big move but this is being underrated and my heart aches for that fact.

This drama is just seeing the humans as a human. Thoughts, feelings, failures and reasons to live are portrayed in a great sense of literature and casts are perfectly fit for these characters.

I don't normally feel engaged to most of K-drama but this one can keep me as I'm healed along with the characters. This just feels right to my expectations that I want from art.

Just beautiful
nona_harrypotter24 October 2021
This drama was just perfect for me, story line, acting, music and direction everything was just so beautiful... Its one of those dramas that takes you in slowly and you become fully engrossed and immersed with the characters and it has depth and you can at times relate to them.

If you havent seen it yet go ahead its one of the best kdramas out there.

a great accidental watch
chozcaye14 November 2021
I saw this after watching Jirisan, just clicked on it without reading the synopsis, and bang, i did an allnighter and reached episode 8. The rest i finished it all last thursday, with a re-watch for ep 11-16 last night coz i just cant get over it.

Well, honestly the male lead piqued my interest, being Reply 1988 as the only drama i watched of him, plus, i mistook the female lead as the 1 in Chicago Typewriter... but i had 1 great drama time.

Reasons: 1. The perfomannce of the protagonists are superb (facial expressions, delivery of lines, appearance).. their lines are mostly narrative, like they are not directly delivering them, it takes a different kind of focus, esp us depending on subtitles, to tell which is which. No offense, but i think younger audience usually dont appreciate this technique but its highly intelligent. Plus i love his expressive eyes, really.

2. the characters portrayed and the artists suited perfectly. The 15-year gap maybe a reall no-no to others but the male lead's job as an escort to that of the lady lead's life experience logically supports the possibility, despite here uprightness. Their chemistry seems far-fetching but hell yeah, its strong.

3. the song and the cinematography. Episode 11-12 is a must must see 4. The artistic switching from present to flashback to present, missing a scene would make u feel lost 5. And a lot more so i hope u will give it a try...

A hidden masterpiece
drbarmar28 December 2021
A slow, quiet and delicate show.

The narration was on point, the vibe of the drama was consistent, the portrayal of the characters was calm and smooth and the storyline was well executed.

It looks more like an artistic movie than a drama.

A mature and heavy storyline focuses on dark themes, such as depression, suicide and abusive relationships. The loneliness of those who live alone, of those sharing a house with someone acquainted, with a lover, a husband, and yet still having this void and drift among them. The struggles of finding that your loved one is suffering in silence, or not finding at all until it's too late. The endless fear of becoming nothing. Of achieving nothing with life, not living but merely existing. The relationship between the female lead and her father has equal poignancy and dignity.

OST is wonderful. Background music and OST blends gracefully with the feelings and the messages the main characters often mention.

Realistic, full of emotions, deeply written with some class acting.

A drama that will make you appreciate the ordinary feelings that occur everyday. Every character in this drama brings their own story, sadness and warmth. Very wonderful and heartwarming.

Raw and Honest

This is my favorite drama of the year. It's raw and honest, moving and thought-provoking. Very brave of the writer to tackle dark themes that we don't usually talk about. This drama is everyone's story.

Had potential
Park_Min20 August 2023
To sell the slow burn story atmosphere, a drama needs to be accompanied with a memorable and fitting soundtrack. There was a desperate need for an actual original soundtrack in this one instead of filling it with random and generic sorrowful OST which ruined almost any big moment. Despite having an abundance of free time, the drama failed to give the side characters a "character", they never felt that they mattered. The drama behaved like a movie but failed to fit it in a drama (long) format. More often than not, it stuck out a bit too much and ended up being annoying. There are better ones with similar themes.

They love for Ryu jun yeol made me watch this drama. But now i am in love with this drama and the writer.
tingtingball16 October 2021
I started watching this drama just because i like Ryu jun yeol . But now i am lost of words. It happens rarely . Just when i love a drama so much i can't find any words to describe . There was a void inside me as i watched the drama. How they portrayed things we can't really express. Its just not not about a woman in her 40s . Its about people who feel empty . That's why this drama is not for everyone . Some will feel it slow ...some will find it boring. But I could feel every emotion .

I don't know if its normal for a 19 year old to feel things they wanted to portray but i did . And i don't think i can move on from this drama for a while. The writer said things that people usually don't tell anyone. We feel many things but not everyone have someone they can share those thoughts or feelings with. The way these drama showed Gang jae talking to his father made me realise doesn't we all talk to someone or ourselves in our mind like that!? It just keeps us sane.

Sometimes we just feel sad. For a small reason or without a reason at all. When gang jae said " i was at home still i wanted to go home " i knew the exact feeling he was talking about.

Maybe i loved this drama so much because i could relate to all the things the writer wanted to say. The emptiness, the frustration of not being able to be something, the fear of not being able to do things we wished for, not being able to live a normal life like other people. I want to say so many things but i don't know how to write those things . Thanks to the write and director. This drama will get its recognition one day. Maybe there are not so many people who feel the same way the characters felt. But one thing is sure, in real life we don't find people like Gang jae to make us feel a little less empty i guess . To just lie down quietly . Who is a stranger but can feel the sadness the other feel. Its just rare .People like us just keep on living with the emptiness...................... RYU JUN YEOL did a great job i must say. I don't know it was acting or not but his eyes looks sad . His eyes carried most of the emotion in the drama . I want to see him happy in atleast one drama. But i think he can portray sad characters really well. Everyone did a good job. I think acting sad is the hardest of all . Everyone portrayed the sadness well. I hope this drama will get what is deserve. And thanks for not including any kissing scene ( i am still in 12th epi though) . It will be awkward. ( Many people are talking about 45 year old woman having affair .I think its about how we see or want to see. She doesn't want to have a affair she just felt like he understands her . A total stranger saved her. Don't we all wish to have someone like that. Just there for each other nothing else. If they even felt anything they knew their boundaries . They tried their best to avoid . I don't know how it well end but for a 45 year old or 25 year old its just about looking at someone and feel that this persons eyes are sad too. Maybe he / she understands .)

I hope people will appreciate this drama more . Thanks for making a drama like this . Thank you.

Undoubtedly, the one of the best Kdramas I've ever watched.
mahibrr1 April 2024
This is a masterpiece of human connection that depicts humanity, sorrow, and love that is deeper than touch, in such a delightful manner. The intimacy between the MLs gave me goosebumps, for just eye contact between the leads is enough for us to believe in love. It has some of the most sensual romantic scenes I've ever seen in a kdrama, and those scenes occur without nudity; just a single hug, caress, or stare is enough.

The director did a phenomenal job with the storytelling, as it includes so many layers, that a single watch is not enough to unravel everything the story holds. It is one of those romances that has you to thinking, not just about love, but your own persona and life as well.

The plot line with the FL's father was emotional and touching. Although I have to say, the emotional stance of the characters in their past that lead them to their present situations could've been portrayed better and in more depth.

I would've also liked to see some more of the Male Lead's life and situation. Though heavily portrayed at the start, towards the end, the Male Lead's life and position in life was brushed away and given less priority, as the makers seemed to want to focus on the Female Lead more by making the Male Lead a catalyst for the Female Lead's love life.

Needless to say, the cinematography is akin to that of a full fledged Netflix drama, along with the subtle mix of comedy and shiver inducing soundtrack. Hence, JTBC is commendable for this project.

The main thing that makes this drama so great is the vibes and aura it and its characters have.

The main characters are perfectly imperfect, and the dynamic between them is varying and stark, but similar at the same time. It is a story that makes you crave to see more, feel more, understand more, just like most forbidden romances would. But this isn't just a forbidden romance, it is a story about life, and a love that is the saviour of their lives.

This isn't just a romance drama, it is a drama about humanity, and a thought provoking tale about human minds, and emotions. It is relatable even to ones with no similarities with the story at all. I've watched it 2 years ago, but still think of it time to time.

The makers did a fantastic job blending in side character storyline's with the main story, making it a delicious slow burn.

I personally, dislike slow burns. But this, was a slow burn masterpiece:

LOST is an unconventional storyline about a woman in her forties with bleak prospects, and a 27year old man who meet under chance circumstances. The drama depicts human emotion, sorrow, and love in such a poetic light, that it's almost hard to not relate to the characters. No nudity, just pure intimacy is portrayed by the actors that it almost makes you think of the characters as real people around you. The lead actors did a phenomenal job along with the people behind the camera. The chemistry will give you goosebumps.

On a different day I would rate it 9/10, but only because this drama might not be for everyone, as it is emotionally difficult to get through. But I savoured it fully, hence, I have it a full rating.

It is the only drama that made me question my own life. I'd watch it 10 times over if I could.

Hats off.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews28 November 2023
Korean Drama " Lost " is a moody melodrama about two people finding each other at their lowest.

The drama is indeed moody and had its moments. I especially enjoyed the plot line of the father, which was sweet, emotional, and sad at the same time.

The main story, on the other hand, though it was intriguing at first, as it was interesting to get to find out what happened to the main couple in the past to led them to the situations they are currently in, it was a big let down. It turns out it was more about the vibes than about an actual story, as the plot was moving at a snail's pace and led to nothing.

The performances, though, were really good by the main leads especially, but the rest of the cast did a great job as well.

So, overall, two out of ten.

The drama requires patience from the viewers to pause and absorb the emotions it delivers to them.
tanushree-raha101914 October 2022
The story began with a few lost souls trying to find their way through the devasted and lonely lives they were living. But they are trying to get out of it. They are trying for a second chance.

It's a slow burn drama and by slow burn I mean it's a very very slow drama but there is beauty in it if you're willing to stick it out and remain patient then you will encounter with one of the most content and beautiful drama you have seen.

The drama (especially all the monologues) requires patience from the viewers to pause and absorb the emotions it delivers to them.

Your perception plays a big role here. Although it is a dark theme drama such as couple falling out of love, abusive relationship, suicide, domestic violence, loneliness, depression, death etc but it's also about people falling in love, knowing your self-worth, self respect, letting go of your dark past, healing your wound, stepping back when you are at the edge of being suicidal and it's absolutely fine to take time to mourn the death of your loved ones.

Ryu Joon Yeol : RJY is ethereal. His long hair look is a killer. His voice!!! I can sleep peacefully listening to his monologues because its so painful but at the same time its just so beautiful and soothing. All his monologues stabbed to the core of my heart.

I fell so hard for Kang Jae. He is an old soul and mature enough for 27 yo man. His vulnerability and humanity will hit you so hard that it will haunt you.

Jeon Do Yeon: She is outstanding! She brought a life to her character Bo Jeong. She is heartbroken, lifeless, scarred and suicidal. She doesn't talk much but her gaze can talk more. I love her gazes.

Byeong Eun Park: I am just amazed by his expression less face. His dropping shoulders talks on his behalf. His struggle between his personal and professional life looks real. All relationships are complex with him in which he is neither a villian nor a victim.

Chemistry:I love whatever exists between Bo Jeong and Kang Jae. It's hard to pinpoint, because it could be siblings, it could be lovers, it could be friends - but it might actually be more like soulmates.

The romance and intimacy between these two has surpassed many characters I have seen. It's a love that doesn't judge but inspire eachother and it's gorgeous.

Soundtrack: All OSTs are unique and has it's own vibes but I am obsessed with the song " My Story" by Ha Dong Kyun.

Lyrics can make you cry, its haunting and beautiful, its a perfect backdrop of storylines of all the characters.

Screenplay and direction: The continuity is the beauty of this drama. The camerawork is aesthetic! The director has given attention to every details in every shot.

The screenwriting is phenomenal. Every character's approach to interact with another character is noteworthy.

I think the direction and screenplay are the strength of this drama.

Lost shattered me like "My Mister" did but it had also put me together again through an emotional bond between two completely unlike characters just like My Mister. So, if you have liked My Mister and give this drama a chance too.

It was a joy and privilege to watch "Lost". I am glad I watched this beautiful drama. I hope everyone watch and like it too.

One of the Best K-Dramas I've Seen
thalassafischer29 November 2023
Lost is nothing like the Western tv show from fifteen to twenty years ago of the same name. It's a very slow moving, emotional journey through the lives of characters who are truly suffering in their every day lives. People who feel crushed by the wealth inequality and external expectations of modern capitalist society each tell their individual story of struggle just to survive financially in the city of Seoul while seeking more meaningful connections with other humans.

Pollution, the gap between the rich and the poor, and lack of authentic connections are defined as the three things wrong in the 21st century world and a world view is offered that without power or wealth all someone can do is improve relationships with other people.

I can't give it a ten because sometimes it just seems ridiculously depressing. There's a real sense of wallowing in self-pity and helplessness in this show, highlighted by the suicide of a young man and a young woman in the very first episode. There are also a lot of coincidences, but I've learned over time that "convenient coincidence" is an unavoidable trope in every single K-Drama I've seen.

On the other hand, I think this show is as well-written and well-constructed as a two hour film, which in my experience is unusual for K-Dramas which tend to be on the kooky or lighter side, unless it's a horror or action show. Lost is very serious and earnest in its intent and attempts to communicate something real.

Beatifully shot, so raw and honest story
masajuhani26 June 2023
Not much to add what haven't been said here already. The first 15mins of the Drama gives you a good idea if this is for you or not. For me this was so fresh to watch. The flow of the series was so smooth. Loved these longer cuts. Not switching the camera angle every 1 second like korean directors tend to do.

Personally I'm not that into these slice of life dramas such as My Mister but this one hit like a rock. Big thumbs up to writer and director. Some of those inner dialogies wich started "Hello Father" were so close to art.

Easily 10/10 with less screentime on side couples wich i found the only slight boring part in here, esp the pharmacy lady.

Slow burn drama on feeling lost in life
vijulia7 April 2024
Poignant is the first word that comes to my mind to describe this kdrama. The title is fitting and will not disappoint if you want to find out what feeling lost is like. It reaches deep into the painful corners of life. The mood is deeply depressing. The romance is intensely slow burning. Impressive chemistry from the leads that leaves you yearning for more. It is shot in a captivating way that keeps you observant and reflective. Every micro-expression is meant to move you. Tons of symbolism throughout the series. The story is heavy but manages to leave you feeling lightweight at the end. I would recommend this if you're looking for a melancholic but hopeful love story.

Poetic, Existential, though provoking...
bbmura29 January 2024
Anyone familiar with Albert Camus' writings will understand the 10/10 rating. In both western and eastern dramas (films in particular), I've never seen a story narrated so poignantly with texts sent or erased, or with words we sometimes tell others or just think to ourselves, that are rooted in the most familiar question we all wonder-what is my worth in the world. The narrations reveal how difficult life can be when one is required to fit into uncomfortable forms set by societal traditions and norms, especially when the desire to truly and deeply love conflicts with the most basic need to be "normal" and to financially survive. This is especially thought provoking when the words narrate scenes of other people, in the two main characters' lives, dealing with a similar struggle between choosing fantasy over reality and sometimes questioning ones worth. The chemistry between the two leads (Jeon Do-yeon as Lee Bu-Jeong and Ryu Joon-yeol as Lee Kang-jae) is arrestingly beautiful in how they slowly reveal to the other their similar struggle while also moving irresistibly towards the other despite impossibly high societal walls that will likely keep them forever apart. This will be one drama I will revisit more than once, because I'm certain with each viewing there will be scenes that reveal something I missed before. It is a drama that anyone interested in other cultures will want to examine, especially in how strict social traditions often foster the unrealistic desire to escape unscathed. There's one line in the film the FL says and then later repeated by the ML that caused me to think most about the true nature of this drama, "Life without an illusion is closer to death." It really makes one wonder about all the "illusions" we create just to make life more bearable, but more importantly perhaps whether such illusions have any real value. (PS This drama is difficult to search/find and doesn't always show up under searching the title "Lost." As of Jan, 29 2024 I was able to view it on Amazon Prime after searching one of the lead actors' names, which will then bring up "Lost" as one of their dramas.)

Lost hope
rugby-1316726 October 2021
From the first episode till the last frame it's just the row of dismal current events, beginning double suicide. In the next frame, the family scandal broke out and so on. At last, the female lead is recognizing failure in her life. Can object to me, the young handsome man got fallen in love with the old ugly woman, but actually, they had no future it added dark color in this plot.

"LOST" Serotonin
riveramj-5405310 February 2024
This is the second series I watched from a list of recommended titles from a YouTube video. However, this is the first Series I refuse to continue watching till the end. I need to scrutinize that list much more carefully now. Ordinarily I feel compelled to finish a series, but I just won't put myself through this. I stopped halfway through episode 4. You know that hopeless feeling you get when watching people who are shameless and empty inside? This is how I continuously felt watching this. I watch K-Drama's for escapism and help increase my serotonin levels. When a K-drama says romance, I expect feelings of happiness and a great overture in the end. Based on some reviews it turns out this does not occur.

I imagine there are people who enjoy watching others in misery or suicidal, etc... They say it's because it makes them feel better about themselves. If that's your thing then this is for you. Additionally, the series is very slow paced, and a lot goes unsaid and is just expressed with silence or looks. The acting is performed well and very believable.
