Nice location, little sentiment, boring.
mamachikn11 May 2021
I've seen this location before in the other Ice Castle Hallmark movie. Since it's a Canadian location, it makes sense.

The story was unusually boring, although the scenes were okay. The lead was overly clumsy, which was a little unnerving. Too klutzy.

And no kissing between the secondary couple when she accepted his marriage proposal! Just bizarre! The loud conversation about a secondary character took place with that person sitting 2 feet away. Just weird.

The leads were not passionate. The ending was boring and fell absolutely flat. It was a travel video, basically, all over the place. The best things were the scenery, including the enchanted lit forest, and the lessons on glassmaking, cooking, and ice sculpture...

Baby, It's luke warm inside
ginasharp19 June 2021
This movie hit right in the middle for me. It was good, but not that memorial for me. I did enjoy seeing the inside of the ice hotel which I found out is a very real place and dream of staying there some day! The ice slide was a fun scene. What the main female character was "struggling" with didn't seem like it should've been a big deal to carry around for so long and hold her back. So that seemed a little strange. But overall, glad I watched.

Beautiful ice castle
hallmarkmov28 May 2021
It's odd this was part of the spring line up and seemed more fitted for winter. Beautiful ice castle, some fun facts about ice thrown in, and a different story from the traditional template. I've always wanted to stay at this ice castle in Quebec so it was cool to see it and experience it through this movie. Didn't know every year the ice castle has a completely different design! Worth a watch!

Amazing place

This is a predictable story with very little tension. There isn't a lot of plot but the writers and director do the one thing I frequently complain some movies don't do enough- they throw the leads together almost every possible chance.

Jocelyn Hudon is a young lead where many of the Hallmark leading ladies are nearing or past 40. There's nothing wrong with that except it limits the studio when trying to make stories about younger couples. Hudon has been doing work for Hallmark for several years now, although not as much as I would like to see lately, although perhaps Covid has something to do with that. Hudon is just right for this role and she has great chemistry with Steve Lund. Hudon does a good job dealing with the back-and-forth in her confidence and that is one thing the script does well.

I said predictable, and it is for broad strokes, but I was a little surprised at how one character acted toward the end.

the lessons
Kirpianuscus29 January 2023
The lessons of ice sculpture, cooking or glassmaking are the main virtues of this Hallmark film . Like the rooms of hotel and the hospitality of Petersons , the nature and the blunders of Hannah Fischer.

But the option for the hotel from Finland remains very ...subjective and bizarre, the chemistry between lead characters is pure fiction ,Randy Thomas saves a lot but you expect another mistake from Hannah so, more the tension works in decent manner.

The conclusion- the hotel and the lessons are more the basic motif to see this film, a beautiful one, off course, but only for them because. Jocelyn Hudon and. Steve Lund are reduced at a sort of sketches of goofing around young lady and the handsome manager.

So, good looking people - Melinda Michael and. Kathryn Kohut as the good examples, a splendid ice hotel and a pretty ice schel with improvised pearl are the pieces who, after the final credits, sustain the good impression about this film. Is it enough ? Maybe...

Winter Castle 2
allmoviesfan9 January 2024
Jocelyn Hudon is one of the new wave of Hallmark stars coming along in the footsteps of some who have left for GAC Family in recent times or else are losing their fight with Father Time - and who isn't! She is very bubbly and attractive, and I've enjoyed each of her Hallmark productions to this point, especially Love in the Maldives. Her star is definitely on the rise.

Steve Lund is one of the more reliable Hallmark actors, and displays good chemistry with Hudon in another story set inside Quebec's impressive Ice Hotel. What an interesting place that would be to spend a night!

As some previous reviewers have pointed out, this is a very formulaic movie, and you can pretty much figure out what's going to happen well ahead of time. But the chemistry between the leads and the unique setting - admittedly less unique if you've already watched the first Winter Castle movie - makes it a decent watch.

Strangely familiar to "Winter Castle"
MickyG33331 January 2023
6.9 stars.

A woman and her best friend travel to an ice hotel instead of going on their originally planned tropical cruise. She finds inspiration on this icy vacation while helping the hotel owner out of a bind, falling in love with him in the process.

If ice sculptures could perform we would not be able to differentiate between them and the leads of this film. Both actors did absolutely no justice to the roles they played. Hudon is about as wooden as can be with the perma-grin phenomenon and the lopsided expressions. She could not find her mojo in this role at all. I found myself grimacing a few times with her caricatured smiles and unfocused performance. What a striking contrast to some of her other movies. I can't help but assume that Mr. Lund was just reacting to her uncomfortable portrayal. His interpretation was somewhat wooden also, but maybe it is appropriate as a reaction to her character's personality, which consists of a profound lack of confidence in her abilities. He did the best he could under the circumstances.

I saw this movie the first time when it was called "Winter Castle", a Hallmark production that was released a couple years prior to this one. It featured the same, or similar ice hotel, and it was a much better film in every way, including storyline, acting, dialogue, and chemistry. I would have to admit, however, that "Baby, It's Cold Inside" has slightly better lighting and sets. And the title is very un-exciting, certainly not conducive of attracting viewers.

I didn't realize there are so many ice castles in the world. I guess this movie is realistic in the sense that this one is actually located somewhere in North America. There are indeed ice castles in the states and in Canada, but I suppose the original is in Sweden? Good stuff. I would skip this movie and watch "Winter Castle" instead.

Absolutely delightful
zozsezo18 June 2021
After a month of depression, this film was the perfect motivation to me!

First of all, the ice hotel is absolutely stunning!

Secondly, The lead actresse spirit is joyful and fun, even her clumsy face expressions, at some points, were very fitting to the character. I gave it 10 cause it's the kind of films that you need when you feel down and discouraged, it's like a gentle push to help you believe in yourself more. Above all that, I can relate to Hana's character in so many ways. Steve lund also did an acceptable effort to picture the shy kind of guy. In the end, this film is totally joyable and worth it!

What a gorgeous hotel!
HotToastyRag12 December 2022
The funny title of Baby Its Cold Inside has audiences wondering what the plot could possibly be. It doesn't disappoint! Jocelyn Hudon stars as a travel writer sent on an assignment she didn't want over Christmas. Instead of celebrating her holiday on a tropical island, she gets to freeze her fingers off in an ice hotel! And yes, it's very cold inside. Everything is made of ice, including her bed. It's worth watching this movie just to get an inside look at the real Hotel de Glace in Quebec. The visuals are so beautiful, it'll make everyone in the audience want to book a Christmas vacation there the following year. I've already looked up reservations online!

The downside is unfortunately the leading lady. Jocelyn has a surprisingly flawed character. She's always messing up and apologizing, like ruining a special dessert that can't be replicated, or dropping and breaking things. She may be pretty, but she comes across as both incredibly inept and insecure. So why does Steve Lund like her? He's the very capable owner and architect of the hotel who creates new ice sculptures every year and runs the everyday management alongside his devoted (and also capable) assistant, Melinda Michael. What does he see in Hannah, the walking accident? Still, I'd recommend this movie because of the scenery. You can tune out the romance if you want and just look at the ice.

Could have been a good movie
esusansmith9 May 2021
Interesting location. I've never considered visiting an Ice Hotel, but this place looks magical. Having said that, the hotel and Steve Lund are the ONLY things this stinker have going for it. Lead actress has zero personality, and should consider going back to acting school. Don't waste your time.

Cheesy Fantastic
lowrenag14 May 2021
Movie was fantastic! I've seen Steve Lund and Jocelyn in many Hallmark Movies and they both bring so much to the stories.

The only problem I have is that this filming location has already been done in a 2019 Hallmark movie called 'Winter Castle'. But honestly, how many movies have been done in the same locations?

We come to Hallmark to watch their movies because they are cheesy, make you feel good and always have a happy ending. Adding this to my DVR ;)

Baby it's dull inside
TheLittleSongbird3 March 2022
'Baby it's Cold Inside' was hardly one of those doomed from the start kind of films. Despite it being a familiar scenario, that has been used in some of Hallmark's previous Winterfest films, hotels are always great to see on film and have been used to memorable effect many times (i.e. The Plaza Hotel in 'Home Alone 2'). Have seen the leads in other things and when the material is good they are too. Despite mixed expectations, there was some potential.

Potential that is not really lived up, which did annoy me as somebody that hates wastes of potential of all else when watching film and television. 'Baby it's Cold Inside' is not an irredeemably terrible film, haven't said that yet for any of Hallmark's 2021 output, but it to me was very weak and never really grabbed my attention in most areas and as an overall film. Hallmark's 2021 output was hit and miss, but not as bad as it could have been considering the difficult circumstances, but 'Baby it's Cold Inside' is one of the misses.

Am going to begin with the good. The scenery is spectacular and even more magical is the character of its own that is the hotel. One of those places where a stay during winter would be strongly considered.

Steve Lund does a good job with what he has to work with, charm comes very naturally to him.

Jocelyn Hudon however came over as very bland as a character that doesn't have much development or personality. She and Lund lack chemistry, which needed a lot more playfulness and charm than what was given. The romance wasn't realistically developed and plays second fiddle to the events going on in the hotel, it takes too long to find its groove and then rushes its way to the finish line with not enough time to go. The supporting cast are stuck in typical Hallmark cliche roles and are not very memorable.

The story goes at a rather sluggish pace and has too little content to sustain the length. What there is just follows a basic and done to death formula that is familiar ground for Hallmark, and does so in a run of the mill and characterless way. There is just nothing to it. The conflict with the hotel manager makes little sense and feels thrown in, not enough is done with it too, while the ending is rushed and abrupt.

Furthermore, the script is cheesy and mundane and can sound awkward. Didn't care for any of the characters other than some moments with Lund and the music is over-scored and over-used. The direction is routine at best and plods at worst.

In summary, weak. 3/10.

Loud music makes movie even worse than it is
RebeccaKeys8410 May 2021
I generally like Hallmark movies for the cheesiness that I've come to expect, but this movie just isn't good. The acting is worse than usual and the plot is cheesier than most, but the worst part is that the music is so ridiculous loud! For some unknown reason, the music in Hallmark movies is always unnecessarily loud, but this one takes the cake. It's like they increased the volume of the music to take away from how terrible everything else is about the movie. I ended up turning it off halfway through.

Beautiful location but boring movie
taylornan090917 May 2021
The lead actors had zero chemistry. Why did the character of Hannah have to be made to seem like a clumsy idiot...

They just keep getting worse and worse...
suzpom10 May 2021
This story line has already been done to death - and I'm pretty sure I saw, a couple of years ago, a Hallmark movie that is basically the same ...

Besides that - they just aren't interesting anymore and the acting is so bad and the directing and writing worse.

I know Hallmark is the "card company" but surely you can do better that platitudes in a story made into a movie? Or maybe not. Perhaps it's time to put the cards back in the rack and move on to something else...

Bait and Switch
rebekahrox13 May 2021
I signed up for a Hallmark movie and got an infomercial for the Ice Hotel in Canada. Except the script would have been better in the infomercial. The lead actress, Joceyln Hudon, droned her part out in a monotone like she couldn't get the words out fast enough so she could be done with it. Not that I blame her. Meryl Streep couldn't have created any interest with this lifeless script. She was pretty, blonde, and boring. Her main personality trait was being cutely clumsy. I've liked Steve Lund in other parts, so I'll just move on.

This travelogue consisted of jumping from one cold weather activity to another. Baking authentic nordic food, sliding down ice slides, hot-tubbing, touring the hotel, snow shoeing, glass-blowing, maple syrup making, and northern lights viewing. After about an hour of TV time of this frantic activity, the heroine actually asks the hotel owner what there is to do in the area. I kid you not. The most exciting thing that happened was the influential hotel reviewer got a maple syrup pop stuck on his hat. There was a bit at the end where the dead-eyed jealous hotel manager (who actually was pretty scary with her coiled hostility masked by her friendly courtesy) said some mean things to our heroine and briefly scared her off the trail of a new career path and a cute boyfriend. But by that time it was too late. Thanks to that hotel hat guy (what was that Army Ranger hat he had on?) disaster was averted.

This is the second Hallmark movie starring the Ice Hotel. I think an investigation is in order.

Movie is exactly as expected
hypzrkunt22 May 2021
I really like the actors in many of their other performances and while this was not bad it was just a little slow- the actors showed chemistry which matters but I always was expecting it to move- Emile ullerup made a very similar movie at the famed ice castle which is a little better; I would say I would eat hit again but not for at least 6 months- it's a shame because really liked from friend to fiancé and have watched that at least 4 times- at such a great place make a great story and yes I k ow hallmark movies are similar- don't rush them just make it move especially when you have quality leads.

Just gag me
toncincin12 January 2022
Why does Hallmark cast Jocelyn Hudon? She sucked in Friend to Fiancé too. She's a great cheerleader.

BTW - Aebleskiver are from Denmark ... not Quebec Canadian. Nice try Hallmark.

Second movie from an ice hotel. Find a new location.

Boring
bmiller5920 July 2021
I don't usually get bored during HM movies. I gave up within the first 30 minutes and that included the commercial. No chemistry between the leads. And actually, this movie was the same ole, same ole. I don't usually give up on HM movies, but I had to. Oh yea...the music, what were they trying to hide? Too loud and repetitive.

Surprisingly bad
vkpnbj21 April 2022
Wooden script and cast. We'll below the modest standards of Hallmark movies which I can often find enjoyable . The female lead was particularly bad but I think she may have been aware of what a dog of a script she was saddled with.

Mistakes Lower Overall Quality
vendartagnan27 April 2022
This is my 6th Hallmark review where the mistakes, with the script or actors, detract from the movie's overall quality. Would give it an easy 7 for all other aspects- photography, sound, etc, but the errors, either script errors or actors gaffes, truly are a1! Hallmark apparently ignores these reviews, as the mistakes are becoming more frequent and more common within their movies.

Omg worst acting/directing EVER
reginabernaldo21 October 2022
I cannot believe that this is a movie was made in 2021. This was hard to watch. I am an easy to please Hallmark movie goer and I cannot believe how bad and rehearsed sounding this acting was. I have to say that because it was a blanket ALL around bad acting, that it must've been a directors horrible vision? WTF. The cheesiest hallmark movies are my fav, this had the potential to at least be decent due to the story line and the actors had no intonation delivering the script. They literally brought no charisma to the roles which obviously affected the rest of the cast and the director just figured... well this works, it's not like I'm trying to make art here or anything.

But all in all- guess what... you are! I am a nurse who sees horror on a regular basis and I look forward to new release Hallmark movies to just feel better about the world and this was literally LAZY on everyone's part. Please don't waste time in watching this apathetic performance of obvious anhedonia. Anyone can be pretty, but honestly some sort of livelihood on screen and behind the scenes is the bare minimum my friends. Super disappointed.

We aren't idiots, don't treat us as such
picturestothewind27 April 2022
Hallmark is now in the habit of making glaring and obvious mistakes in their movies and just not caring about quality. Sometimes one, sometimes many.

Some mistakes are horrible and some trivial, but it feels like Hallmark thinks we the audience are just too stupid to notice.

One example of many in this movie - stating that someone is cooking an Aebleskiver and then serving a Croquembouche. It's like saying that you are going to give someone a Krispy Kreme and serving them Oreos. Not. The. Same. Not even close..... Hallmark needs to shape up.
