AOT - The Masterpiece of my Generation
marveller-6616 January 2022
The New Soundtrack gave me goosebumps. This whole episode did. Again left with an incredible cliffhanger. Guys, even if you aren't into anime, just give this show a try, i'm telling you it's gonna blow your mind. This was the first anime I've ever watched and it has become my favorite show of all time. As a manga reader, having to experience those still images animated, it gave me absolute satisfaction. MAPPA did a beautiful work here. And wait till you see the next 2 episodes, it'll be the beginning of the greatest piece of fiction ever created, if not already now. Sneak Attack - 9.5

And Please don't review-bomb this.

There's nothing for you to achieve by doing it. Just stop, please. What'll take for you to get to your senses?

The hate is strong... but the hype, succes and the fans are stronger!!
and_mikkelsen16 January 2022
The reasons for this 1 star bombing make NO sense.. if i dont like something i usually tend to avoid it, so why do you actively seek out what you dont like? This wont make your favorite show any better or more popular.. if anything it just ruins the reputation of it! I wish we could all just come together and enjoy this masterpiece! I dont know why this has to be a compatition, cause every anime is good for their own seperate reasons, so stop comparing them! Lets all just appreciate each others favorite anime/shows, Enjoy them and stop this reviews bombing

I enjoyed this episode A LOT!! Lots of epic moments!! Better than the previous episode which was a great start! Yelena's face was freaking scary! That scene with Gabi and Falco really got to me.. Very emotional! Got super excited when Ashes on fire came on! Solid soundtrack in this episode! The hype and succes will only increase from here, and a 1 star is never gonna change that.

Incredible Episode - An Improvement Over the First
Venom597016 January 2022
First episode was amazing, solid 9/10 for me. This episode was phenomenal. It was not perfect however, as I feel it could have been paced a little bit better. And I believe that this episode has the best score of any aot episode ever. That new ost that was playing at the beginning of the episode was amazing. Also, as a manga reader, be prepared for another phenomenal 3 episode stretch on the level of "Perfect Game", "Hero" and "Midnight Sun" in season 3 part 2, and "Declaration of War", "The War Hammer Titan" and "Assault" in Season 4 Part 1. It's going to get that good, and it could very easily be better than those if adapted well. Lots to look forward to! (also please stop review bombing)

I'm in awe
Qoenntrell16 January 2022
What an episode MAPPA, first off I love the new music and especially the apt music choices, such as APETITAN being used for Zeke's entrance and how consistent the character designs are right now. And is that a 2D beast titan I see? I can't even tell the CG and 2D apart anymore.

I like how a more sombre version of "The Fall of Marley" plays while Reiner and Eren were going at it, as if deliberately in sync with his pitying of Eren. It's "The Fall of Shiganshina", but sadder.

And I too love the addition of the birdcages as an allegory of Gabi's ignorance of her actions and brainwashing, with the scene of an open birdcage placed right after she confesses that there were no devils, only humans. The juxtaposition just yells Gabi getting out of the forest to me.

Following Mr. Braus's words on opening a dialogue and seeking mutual understanding, Gabi reflects on Reiner's feelings and the other Eldians she had never even met before. It's great to see Mappa put some care to develop Gabi's character growth in ways they didn't need to. It's such a nice touch.

Another easy 10/10 for both MAPPA and AOT.

Masterpiece.
asmrmakemesleep16 January 2022
Despite everything, AOT never fails to deliver and this season especially. The pacing, the animation, the story, everything is just so perfect, 12 years into watching anime never even once I find myself THIS excited for an episode to release. AOT really is phenomenal.

What's coming!
erenjeiger16 January 2022
Just perfect. The preamble of what's to come, preparing the ground for the best. AOT it's become a cultural phenomenon and now understands why. This story is a necessary emotional fact in popular culture.

AMAZING EPISODE
mmallows16 January 2022
I haven't seen the subs yet but the soundtrack used throughout this episode is astonishing especially the apetitan ost during zekes arrival was absolute goosebumps. The character design and countenance is consistent since episode 1 and the VA of gabi really nailed it especially eren screaming is terrifying mah boi Yuki kaji always pulls it off as expected from him. Pacing is good and cgi perfectly blends to the environment and titan fight seems better than episode 1.

Also before I forget please stop review bombing the episode it's very immature, rate the episode fair and square then at least provide a valid constructive criticism if you don't like it this isn't a contest.

MASTERPIECE OF AN EPISODE
erenreactin16 January 2022
As expected, CGI is better than before and the pacing was slow but its not a bad deal, I actually found it even better. As usual, the voice acting is ridiculously incredible especially Erens scream and the animation was exquisite and a sight to behold. The ost choice is great as well. The only thing that's not great was the childish people review bombing this without giving an appropriate criticism.

I'm a bit worried
thefoochie16 January 2022
This was an amazing episode, however there is one problem. At this pace, the anime can't finish in 12 episodes, unless they rush it. So far, only 2 out of 22 chapters have been adapted, so there should be 22 episodes right?!

The episode was really good. Watched it without subs but I'm a manga reader so yeah. It was really well done and the OST choices were perfect. Made the Yelena face scarier than the manga really🤣

Epic and Emotional
BadgerStorm434517 January 2022
This episode had some of the best animation out of any episode we've seen in Attack on Titan. Certain characters that's were focused on also had very emotional scenes. Attack on Titan has the strongest cast in Anime, Manga and maybe even all of fiction. The music and scope of this episode was epic and the stakes were set extremely high for what will be a stretch of some of the best episodes in Television. This series is a Masterpiece.

Great Episode
MamadNobari9717 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another great episode with great writing and visuals.

The music is yet again unparalleled and amazing and really elevates the scenes.

Gabi finally starts to redeem herself, even though I still hate her, I like that at least she's trying to be less of a unbearable little brat and uses her brain for once.

Great action, great visuals, amazing soundtrack. The only bad thing about this episode is that it ends too soon.

But the only real gripe and problem I have with this episode, or just something that I don't understand, is that why doesn't Eren just get out of his vessel and make another Titan? We have seen in the "Assault" episode I think(?) that he has the stamina and power to do that, so why doesn't he do that now?

It just seems like they intentionally forgot about that so the plot happens.

I don't know, maybe I missed something and there's an explanation for it, but it really looks like Eren didn't make a new Titan just because!

Good moments, bad pacing.
iampiyush-2227016 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think this episode definitely had its moments. Characters had some heartfelt dialogues. Story did eventually move forward (even if 3 of the first 5 minutes was just a repeat of the last episode).

The first half was painfully slow, but the second half picked up the pace and the episode did end with the usual AOT-style cliffhanger.

But for me, the pacing was a bit all over the place. The problem with this one is that they wasted screen-time in the first half and then stitched up some important scenes in the second half which felt out of place, rushed even.

Even if this is one of the most underwhelming episode of the entire Season 4, it still is entertaining.

Not every episode has to be a 10, the pacing has been way too slow.
EddyTheMartian00717 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Why do AOT fanboys have to overrated every single episode? There's only a handful of episodes I think could be 10s, but this one's no where near that level. This episode was so slowly paced, last 2 eps have barely adapted a chapter each. We're at the end of the show, yet it's clear they're dragging this out just to get a movie. We literally got 3 minutes of repeated scenes from last episode, flashbacks, exposition dumps. This is a life or death situation and there's no urgency, the characters are just talking to each other casually. Falco of course conveniently is the only one who spots Gabi so they can be together again. Gabi's realization was solid. The animation has definitely improved and the action is good, but no where near the best in the series. Loved Helena's moment. Beast Titan coming back was cool, but why didn't he jump down to Eren? Wouldn't that be faster? I also don't like how much they've overused this OST, it was always awesome to hear when it came on but now it feels overused and has lost its effect. The beast Titan gets shot in the neck and boom, that's basically it. I thought all of this would've happened last episode already. I hate how they're dragging this out, and it isn't even that great to be spamming 10s like always. If the haters weren't spamming 1s then this would've already been another one of the highest rated episodes. Seriously? A lot of people are complaining about the 1s, but at least it balances out from the fanboys who only spam 10s. As someone who knows where this is going, and hates the ending, I just want to enjoy the last parts of the story I believe to be good in animation, but the execution of this has been underwhelming. Still a pretty good/decent episode but nothing special.

What's with the filler?
grandempire173816 January 2022
I love AOT and this episode is amazing with phenomenal animation (MAPPA is truly goated). But why is almost 5/22 minutes of footage dedicated to scenes we have already seen in the last episode? Hoping this slow pacing does not continue for the rest of the season.

Hope OP fans don't come
giulianopasqui16 January 2022
The episode was fire: the animation, soundtrack, characters designs, titans desings, everything was goated. I hope optards or kny fans come to rate it 1 star and low the position of the episode. Excelent and Aot is really a masterpiece and one of the best anime in all time (If not the best one)
