Good Intentions
JonnyDR7514 June 2022
The concept for this is actually quite good, but the dialogue is poorly written, and the acting is bad. It's a shame that someone with decent writing skills and an eye for recognizing talent didn't have a heart to heart with the writer/director and helped to do some script polishing and to find better actors. With obvious access to talented technical staff and crew, it's a shame the writing and acting quality couldn't match the technical aspects. Ironically, the one good actress is the one in the friend group with the least dialogue or screen time. The final battle resembles something more out of a Benny Hill sketch rather than a slasher movie, and Crystal Lake has magically moved from New Jersey to Kentucky, y'all!

Nice try

Warning: Spoilers
This was a good attempt at a Friday the 13th movie. There were some nice tributes to the series, the camera work and lighting was ok and the way that bigfoot was written in worked, but there was some terrible acting and the writer fell short with characters and pacing.

Did I mention the bad acting? No one knew how to react to anything. Their friend dies, no one gets hysterical, they hardly cry before one of the hunters say, "Let's go, he's dead," and they all stand and walk away. When they hit bigfoot, there's no shock, no surprise that bigfoot esxists, it's like, 'damn these things, this is the third one I ran over this week. Well, let's load this monster up and haul him back home and bandage his wounds.' Total lack of emotion, realism and acting ability.

And I cannot remember a single characters name, that's how forgetable they are. There are 6 friends but I have to go back and look to remember one of the girls. She has less lines and screentime than the rednecks. We get to know nothing about them. How are they friends? What's their age range because the blonde seems several years older than the others. It was only 54 minutes long and would have been much better with some scenes that weren't related to the events of Crystal Lake. A movie, even a horror movie needs character development. There were just to many characters in 54 minutes.

Jason looked good, but he wasn't that tall. There were 2 actors who were several inches taller than him and one who was just as tall. This could have been fixed by having him next to smaller actors or having him stand on something when he was near taller ones. But he still had a good look and build.

I know I pointed out more mistakes than I did the things I liked but it's not a horrible movie. I mean it is, but it isn't. With some character development, more realism to death and monsters and better acting this could have been good. But with the total lack of emotion and how little I cared about the characters I have to give this a 1 star rating. Sorry.

Jason versus Bigfoot is a fun ride
Since the official franchise is stuck in legal purgatory, it is awesome to witness true fans saving the day with Friday the 13th fan films such as this.

Voorhees Night of the Beast is the crème of the crop when it comes to the latest batch of Friday fan films. You can tell everyone involved with the production was truly passionate about the project. Every ounce of the micro-budget was used to make this a truly fun experience to watch as a Friday the 13th fan.

The quality of the production looks better than most of the straight to DVD or VOD movies I have watched lately. The outdoor sequences including the final confrontation between the two main attractions looks amazing.

Writer/director Jason Pitts went out of his way to create a film which pays full respect to the legendary horror franchise. The script is full of callbacks to multiple films in the franchise and brings back several characters which really gave this an official Friday the 13th feel.

There are two standout performances in this film. The actor playing Jason Vorhees takes a lot of cues from Kane Hodder in his portrayal of the Crystal Lake legend and he really gets physical in the role. Alivea Disney shines as one of the main protagonists. She steals the spotlight in all of her scenes. This actress is ready for prime time. I hope to see her in more films very soon.

If you want to have fun again with a Friday the 13th film, you can't go wrong with Voorhees Night of the Beast. Please support these idependent horror films any way you can. Let's Go.

Great movie. Watch the forget the naysayer

Great movie. Awesome effects. Great monsters. Acting was awesome, especially Will Reed, Alivia Disney, and Xavier Jones. To the person complaining about Jason's size Jason was only tall when Ken Kirzinger played him. Otherwise he was always normal size. The actor in the hockey mask(James stokes) and in the Bigfoot costume(Madman Fulton) deserve the utmost credit for the job they did. Writer/director Jason Pitts did an amazing job seamlessly blending in Bigfoot into Jason's world. Regardless of what the one negative reviewer said the characters were well fleshed out and the acting was top notch. And here's something that you don't hear often: A Friday the 13th movie WITH A STORY! Wow. Give an hour of your time and find this on YouTube. We'll worth your time.

It's JASON vs BIGFOOT!
skinnerramone14 June 2022
Voorhees Night of the Beast is a great micro budget indie horror that punches well above its weight. Well written and well acted by a great cast, it's an all around solid movie. The pacing is good, it never lags. The practical effects are well done and there are LOTS of kills. The movie looks and sounds good. Jason looks fantastic! Unlike many low budget indie movies, the sound mixing is very well done. At just one hour long, it's the perfect length for an indie horror. If you're a fan of Friday the 13th, or bigfoot, definitely check out this movie on YouTube!

Fan films have save Friday the 13th
cjmyers-9844214 June 2022
My favorite thing about fan films is they are made by folks who care about paying homage to the original movie series and tell a story firmly planted at a specific part of the timeline. This one is great! It's a fresh idea that is a lot of fun. Easter eggs are plentiful if you're a true horror nerd. Well worth a watch or five.

Micro Indie Gold

Seriously, the best thing that may have happened to the Friday the 13th franchise, was the lawsuit. The fans have really stepped up to the plate, to deliver some fun franchise entries, and Night of the Beast is no exception.

The movie looks fantastic for micro budget, it actually looks pretty damm good for a movie in general. The kills are fun and gory, Jason Stokes kills it as the man behind the mask... and its got frickin Bigfoot. Its free on YouTube, so give it a watch.

The Winner Is........The Viewers!!!

Jason Pitts continues his ascension as a Director/Writer. This movie is absolutely incredible. The acting is perfect. The emotions can be felt by the characters and you can tell that the filming of this movie was fun. The lighting and cinematography was brilliant. Everything about it screamed big budget and yet, that's not even close to true. People are going to complain, but one thing I can say without a doubt is that this is a fresh and original idea that breathes new life into this franchise. Keep your eyes open for Easter eggs, they are in great abundance. I applaud everything about this film and check it out on YouTube!!

First film review
davidblood-527513 November 2022
Voorhees: Night of the Beast has what would be on of the wildest stories in fan film history. However, the wild and absurd storyline couldn't really save this one from the horrible dialogue, chaotic story telling, and horrible fight scene. I wanted to love it but I just couldn't.

The acting in this one is very inconsistent. Some of the cast has a lot of experience and handles themselves very well on camera while others struggled to keep their performance grounded. Their emotions were not genuine and some of the scenes did suffer because of it. The awkward dialogue makes it even more worse when you put it all together.
