Ridiculous but typical Lifetime fare.
tamstrat17 September 2021
Anyone expecting to watch a Lifetime Movie and expecting high art is crazy. We watch these as pure escapism and to get a good laugh.

This movie is as dumb as any other one I've ever seen. Bad acting, effects, etc. But having said that, I forgot my problems for awhile and laughed at the stupidity of it, and so that's okay in my book.

Typically Predictable Plot
Stoshie30 October 2021
Did anyone not know who was going to save the day at the end of the movie? If you didn't, shame on you.

Rib Hillis, who wouldn't have a career if it weren't for Lifetime and other TV movies, is too over the top here as the bad guy. I guess with a title like this, it is what we should expect, but any semblance to believability was destroyed by him chewing the scenery. But it is a Lifetime movie, after all. Expectations should be low to begin with.

Cat 3 Hurricane and Patio Pillows Didn't Move
susieqtpie9 August 2021
So unbelievable. I live at the ocean, and a tropical storm does more damage than the Cat 3 that moved through the "Brody Peninsula" in this movie. The islanders would have known before the day of the impending hurricane and protocols would have been in place for evacuation of someone on life support. Yes, some people don't heed the warnings to evacuate, but nothing else in this movie was realistic. Seriously, the patio furniture cushions and pillows were intact when the hurricane exited the area!

Didn't Blow Me Away or Did It?

I was looking forward to this one. As expected the actors were horrible, the protagonist was trying his best to be creepy, the dumb victims, the storyline was madness, and the special effects could have been done better by a third grader. What could be better than that? It even has rain pouring up instead of down on the windows and no wind during a hurricane. Fun!

A storm chasing version of Albert Beck?
CranberriAppl23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
He kills to "save." Judging by the ending and Rib Hillis being a regular on the network, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the start of a storm series. Look, I think we all know what to expect when watching these movies, but that doesn't give Lifetime an excuse to not write a good movie.

I live in a state that gets the effects of a tropical storm (heavy rain and winds and floods), and the silly effects in this movie don't even represent that lol. The network should invest in stock storm footage like those skyline shots they always use in their films to make this more believable. This place is supposedly being evacuated and there are no people around. The grocery store in town...empty. The roads...empty. I get that the budget for these turn-and-churn movies aren't huge, but again, stock footage of traffic jams, storm effects, and actual wind can't be that costly. Not a flashlight or candle to be found. A scene I just watched...Rib Hillis is lurking outside..no rain...not even ten seconds later...rain. I expected Hurricane Carey to be more of a character.

I'm sure the coma patient was supposed to add "stakes" to the suspense, but getting up w/o being weak or disoriented is a step too far. These movies are what they are, but so often they do things (like have a coma patient be totally fine enough to take down the villain) that just chip away at any sliver of credibility.

Some other silly things...the sister of the coma patient being in that ivory cape for most of the movie. It's a storm and you're sheltering in place...maybe get comfortable. That made me laugh. This must be the year of Rib Hillis playing the villain. I think he's been the bad guy three times this year. He plays a good creep. His yellow jacket is like the fisherman's outfit in I Know What You Did Last Summer. The goofy nurse Tony reminds me of Jack Black's character in the sequel of that movie. After Tony bites it, Abby is so casually mentioning that she thinks someone else is in the house. As if she just told the sister that water is wet. And of course Abby is the typical Lifetime protag who, in spite of just declaring someone was in the house, doesn't call her cop ex to ask for help. Because she wants to reinforce that they're no longer together. Never mind that he's a first responder and she has a patient that needs services. Then when she discovers ****, she doesn't scream for help. She doesn't try to bring him in the house, find a neighbor, or anything. His body is just getting soaked in the mud. So disrespectful. After everything is over...they're making pancakes the next day and nobody mentions him. The sister has perfect makeup and Hannah the coma survivor is wearing lipstick lol. Actually, Abby's makeup is still perfect too. Including her fake lashes and barrel curls. She and Jack also share a kiss. Poor Tony...nobody cares that you're dead. Rib Hillis is in an ambulance with no cops even though he's killed a bunch of people...it's implied he gets away a la Albert Beck.

Crazily enough, this is not the worst Lifetime movie of the year. It's terrible, but that honor currently goes to either The Stranger She Brought Home or Designed to Death (probably the winner). I get that it's currently storm season, but it tries to be a horror, so they could have saved it for Halloween. The killing of the newlyweds was creepy and horror movie-esque...but otherwise, this film is super goofy. I actually fell asleep the first time I watched, so it's not gripping by any means. As I usually say with these movies, watch once and decide.

Something positive: I liked the look and font style of the credits..it was different for Lifetime.

shovonneellis8 August 2021
Lifetime must be really running out of ideas because this had to be the dumbest movie I've watched in awhile, the acting was horrible especially the storm guy and the rich stuck up lady and all I have to say is there better not be a sequel this was cringe enough.

bad bad badd

What is even worse than this movie is the fact that IMDb now want a 600 word review about it. Good god people, have some empathy.

Truth be told I could not even finish watching this it was so bad. I hate to give a really bad review as I know the actors are probably grateful for the work and the pay cheque comes in handy, but oooff.

I don't know what a Lifetime movie is - apparently they are universally dire, but the baddie guy in the yellow rain jacket with the low, low, slow speech - I guess to emphasise just how bad he is - No, just no.

The whole thing was just shockingly bad, 'nuff said. Sorry.

It was ok

I thought the weather guy was totally wacko. I mean he was way out there.

Can you imagine if our weather folks went nuts like this because we don't listen to their storm warnings? We'd all be goners! 😂

I think it was a fun movie - get some popcorn and watch it with a friend. It's silly and creepy.

Why are bad movies being made?
tyzworks9 August 2021
Is it for Tax reduction? Is it by some one who has a lot of money and don't know how to waste it? How can such dumb movies be made and who are the people watching them for got sake? This is bad, from the music to everything else, just bad.

The Weather Channel meets Alfred Hitchcock, sort of.....
mja588 August 2021
This movie was more interesting than what I thought it would be. It reminded me of an episode of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour" called "An Unlocked Window", which was about a couple of nurses with a patient in a large house during a thunderstorm.

Of course, this was set in the Lifetime Universe, where the believability switch is turned off and all sorts of weird things happen.

In the Lifetime Universe.....

1. A category 3 hurricane is merely a severe storm with lots of rain, lightning, BUT NO WIND!!!!

2. People can be strangled, stabbed, shot at (SEVERAL TIMES) and still SURVIVE.

3. Persons who are in a coma can wake up, become INSTANTLY mobile, and attack someone.

Rib Hillis played a pretty good psycho and weatherman - he ought to consider being a presenter at The Weather Channel.

Have a drink and watch a horror show in "Lifetime Land".

6/10.

Not even campy enough to be fun - just really, really bad
kristi-3116 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
My storm-chasing, meteorologist partner made me watch this movie. I knew it was going to be cheesy, but I REALLY hoped it would be deliberately bad and campy like Sharknado. Spoiler alert: it was not. It was just really, really bad. The acting was uniformly bad in a way that makes me think the director was bad at his job, the premise was simply stupid, and the effects (lightning, rain) were lame. Everyone was a caricature, and none of the characters were sympathetic or even likeable in any way. It was just BAD. There were so many plot holes and things that required you to suspend disbelief - but the movie wasn't worth that effort in the first place. They had misspellings on maps, clearly made-up town names that were laughable, medical backstories that were implausible and...really, just bad. Bad bad bad. The only saving grace is that this movie was short. The only surprise? - FOUR people survive in the end, instead of one. Oh, and a woman wakes up from a months-long coma to defeat the killer and walk and talk like muscles don't atrophy during a coma. Come on!

Stupid AF
cjohnson-690203 March 2024
Had to be the stupidest moving I ever seen in my life. Can't believe lifetime who used to make such good movies has gone so downhill, so fast. Dear Lifetime Movie Network, the movies you are making anymore are the worst on television. You used to have good movies that you could watch one after another but over the last couple years you have become a joke. Please fire whoever is perpetuating this garbage and bring somebody in who knows what they're doing. Your actors and actresses must be people you hired off the street for $10 an hour. You'd be lucky if they were second or third rate, but they are far below that.

'This isn't Shakespeare, it's a storm.'
parry_na6 October 2023
Rib Hillis, whose name looks like a typo, has great fun investing the titular character with as much pantomime villainy as possible; he leads the cast of this TV Movie. It has an interesting, if not bizarre, premise. His character Carl Highstrom uses extreme storms to cover up his crimes.

There is an impressive arsenal of effects on display that do their best to convince us there is extreme storm activity, there's overacting, and there's a surprisingly undramatic story. Several unevenly staged effects are employed to make Highstrom appear as evil as possible, but he never rises above daytime television nastiness. My score for this is 6 out of 10.
