Who would tought that show like Doom Patrol would have so many intresting, unique characters with diffrent personalities unlike most new shows were you could kill of most of main cast and replace with other random characters and stories would not change at all so cudos for Doom Patrol, yes episode was bit slow but its ok !

Bore Patrol

Warning: Spoilers
This is the slowest episode to date. It's no wonder it's got the all around lowest ratings. The time travel is essential for Rita to erase her trauma (rather than face it like everyone else in the show) to be able to actually use her power which I think is necessary and good - unlike the dancing around like a chicken to Lady Gaga which was unnecessary and bad.

The rest of the characters are facing their next step after coming back from the dead but it's taken a while to get here and it's still not happened. Slow moving episodes are to be expected but one centered around Rita joining a high school improv class and having the most uninteresting love interest on tv is not the way to play it .

Also, can people stop playing out how touching the scene with Larry and his son was? They've had pretty much this same back and fouth before and I'm sure they'll do it again, I wanna see this bug thing.

Somewhere along the way it seems that the show is seeking out a new audience if not trying to appeal to more but I think they should just stick to weird and offbeat.

BRING BACK MR. NOBODY.

This show is the definition of "underrated"

Warning: Spoilers
When Rita hopped in the time machine at the end of last week's episode, I got apprehensive. Surely, Doom Patrol is better than a clichéd time travel bootstrap paradox story? Well, no...but at the same time - and emphatically - YES.

With just one episode, Rita comes into better focus as an individual than she has through 2 and a half seasons. Taking away her memories and restoring Laura's was such a simple twist of genius, I'm still impressed by how well it worked. The Sisterhood Of Dada are carefree goofballs in 1917. Clearly there is gonna be some heartbreak down the road in the future (literally) that turns them into the villains we saw last week. Also, this episode once again makes clear the Brotherhood Of Evil still have a part to play before the season ends. With so much intrigue - and each subsequent episode proving patience is a virtue in tying together the disparate threads of the season - the show is proving it is the definition of "underrated".

In fact, the stuff in 1917 is so good, I would've given the episode a 10/10. But mainly for what it sets up down the road.

While the 1917 material is A+, the subplots of the season slow things way down. Cliff's scenes are hilarious, but I'm wondering where any of the online addiction stuff is going. Vic is tackling last week's question of "Why Am I?" - and I'm also hoping for that story to go somewhere. Larry gets the best non-Rita moment of the episode and hits both his son and himself with some truth they needed to hear. But again, where is this "living tumor" thing going? Last, but never least, Jane is living up to her purpose of healing Kay - and it seems the other personalities don't like it one bit and may be conspiring against Jane AND Kay. This is one instance where the slow burn approach of this show works in the immediate. There is a real sense of dread attached to any scenes in the Underground - and drawing out the wait makes the tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

I have a feeling this season will benefit from a rewatch even more than the first two seasons. This is a show where it's basically required, as there are so many intricacies hardly anyone would notice until it's pointed out to them further down the line.

I love this beautifully weird show.

Excellent

This was great. I don't want to soil anything, but all the 1917 stuff was great, as well as Laura in the present. And Larry...his scene with his son was beautiful, one of the best in all the show.

I don't care that much for the plots about Jane, Cyborg and Cliff, but they were not bad. I just preferred the other stories better.

Love the series, but jarring, annoying episode
jt-2728410 December 2023
As the title suggests I guess. I just found this episode a bit of a non-sequiteur and a chore.

It feels like they're getting lost with Cliff; Jane's thread was good but somehow lacking in the heart I'd expect for such an important moment for her; in contrast, Larry's was the best part of this by a mile and suitably poignant.

I don't find Laura to be an interesting character and think her trajectory is obvious and meandering.

But this was all about the sisterhood, wasn't it? I confess I love Rita, but the whole 1949 arc is just not resonating with me and I found their outsiders' group story clichéd, the partying and "piffle paffle" dancing etc., SO annoying and forced.

It could just be I'd binged a bit too much when I watched it, and I'm sorry my only review to date is a negative one for a series I really like, but I really found this an annoying episode that didn't feel in sync with the series' flow.
