A much better episode
Dannyboi945 January 2022
Chapter 2 of Boba Fett was pretty darn good, better than the first episode. I loved that we got to delve further into the Sand People culture, and it was a breath of fresh air to see them from a different perspective. We got to see this briefly in the Mandalorian, but in here, even more so. I wanted to see more of this by the end of the chapter.

The action scenes are all very well filmed, although some of the CGI was a little bit obvious at times, especially on the Twins. We haven't seen many of these creatures in live-action, and while the visuals on them weren't perfect, they weren't bad either. Without spoiling anything, we get to see a Wookie in this chapter, and that guy was a beast! I hope we see more of that guy, which I think we will.

While most of this episode takes place in a flashback, we do get to see Boba in the present, but I am more interested in the past than the present. I'm not yet overly sold on Boba trying to claim Tatooine, but I trust Jon Favreau and his amazing understanding of the Star Wars universe.

9/10.

Lawrence of Tatooine

Boba Fett meets a challenger to his territory and further reflects on his time with the Tuskens.

This is a slightly better episode than the previous entry as it has decent central action sequence and some interesting backstory for the title character.

I do like the concept of Boba Fett being with the Tuskens following his Sarlacc pit experience and this episode provides more interesting material than previous.

Everything builds towards a big action sequence which does not disappoint. This episode succeeds in portraying the Tuskens (or at least one of them) as quite cool warriors.

I think it will mainly appeal to Star Wars fans who like to see the universe, cultures and characters explored in more depth. In fact the fan service is wonderful, particularly the scene on Tosche Station with Camie and Fixer from the deleted scene of the original Star Wars movie.

The visuals are excellent as you would expect from Disney and make great use of the landscapes once more.

Temuera Morrison is a solid lead, but again outside of looking tough, there hasn't been much acting to do.

For me this is a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

Full of heart and action

Warning: Spoilers
What an amazing episode ! Boba Fett uses his skills to do good in this episode, as he manages to help the Tuskens in getting recognized as strong people and great warriors. The train scene is a blast, as we witness Boba and the Tuskens working together on a common goal. You almost shed a tear at the end when Boba finally assembles his staff. Maybe he'll move on from here but, if he does, this was a satisfying end to this little story arc.

In this episode, we also get to see the Hutts, the Pykes, the pirates, and a dark Wookie. It is engaging all the time. Steph Green and Jon Favreau created a masterful episode. The story is set in a big way, and I can't wait to see where it might go next.

Thank the maker! A return to the magic of Star Wars.

Warning: Spoilers
Boba Fett must turn from a bounty hunter into a warrior while stopping the persecution of his saviours in the past while facing a power struggle in the present.

Wonderfully directed by Steph Green this episode flows much better than Chapter One. Jon Favreau writing offers Boba's relationship strengthening with the Tuscan Raiders. We get to see how he learned his stick skills and gets his garb in The Mandalorian and he also shows the skills off. There are some moments of humour with the Sand People that are on the mark, especially when learning how to ride speeder bikes. With this episode Green and crew bring film quality visuals to the small screen. A niggle is that with more flashbacks it may have played better with the series running chronological as we saw what he transitioned into in The Mandalorian. The Sand People story first then to the present day escapades may have worked better.

The action fight scenes are well-choreographed, special effects and production all click into a great exciting episode. The bar and train setup are particularly memorable harking back to good old Westerns. The present setting with Fennec Shand along with Boba's Gamorrean guards and 8D8 don't get much screen time, but what there is - is brilliantly executed. Max Rebo again pops ups. We're introduced to Jabba's twin cousins, while still not as aesthetically pleasing as Jabba in Return of the Jedi, the CGI is light years ahead of The Phantom Menace and Hutt's insertion into New Hope, it's done well. The bulked mysterious Wookiee, Mayor and other aliens are outstanding.

Temuera Morrison delivers another gritty performance as Fett especially when helping to develop the Tuscan Raider tribe and learning about their culture. There are the usual nods to the Star Wars saga, here even a few callbacks to Solo: A Star Wars Story. The hallucination sequence including Kamino is interesting.

Overall, with Favreau back on his game, after the ropey first episode, Green offers the series a complete return to Star Wars form with a strong episode both visually and in terms of story. Thank the maker! A return to the magic of Star Wars.

Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine
kaden_lewis23 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a crazy good episode. Much better than the first one. It honestly felt like a movie. The length, the storytelling, the action and the effects all made it have that cinematic feel. The main thing that stuck out to me was the train fight scene. It was so cool to watch. First of all, the 50 minute episode was perfect. It developed a perfect story that culminated with the train scene. It was something we have seen on tv before, but it never gets old. Some examples off the top of my head are the train fight scene from "The Wolverine," and "Fast Five." Both of which were phenomenal, and this episodes scene was up there with theme. From the preparation the Tuskens had to fight the train, to the Tuskens riding speeders and jumping onto the train, to the battles on the roof of the train all while it picks up speed make this episode a masterpiece.

This episode was majority a flashback. I was 100% ok with that. We got to see Boba's relationship with the Tuskens grow very big. I am glad we got to see that because it is giving the Tuskens a different role. We have only ever seen the Tuskens as uncivilized and somewhat of bad guys. Now we get to see their religion and rituals as well as their daily life. It is also nice seeing them get so much screen time. I honestly think they have gotten more screen time in this show than they have in all other movies. Lastly, at the end of the episode we get to see Boba become an honorary Tusken. The entire initiation was cool. From the unbelievable dream sequence which was amazing to watch, to him getting dressed in Tusken outfits, to crafting his own weapon and finally the tribal dance around the fire. That was very cool to see and left you with a happy feeling to end the episode.

Touch of Midas , what a trip!
suvechhabose5 January 2022
What a great episode!

Its long enough to enjoy , minimum dialogue with maximum storytelling.

Chapter 2 of Book of Boba Fett was a visual treat .The aesthetics and the music were perfect and the best part was 51 minutes of time ! I know , its an old ace up the sleeves but if you are convincing enough you can persuade even those who are here for the old times sake. Steph green , is she?

Fans , make sure she gets to do more episodes in star wars universe. M thankful , finally another gem of a director who understands star wars & not convinces others' to understand her ideology .

If you excuse my geekiness , Star wars shouldn't be polished . It needs to be rugged or soft based on a specific character via series in here for the only one protagonist. Ne need for cantina remix music or fast forwarding through every scene. Just play it long enough with music and build the tension. Great episode than last weeks episodes . Canon fans & clone wars fans , this one's for you. For us .

The last dance sequence was beautiful. It was a traditional ceremony for Tuskens managing to earn respect on their respective lands & Boba embracing his human side. Dig every moment of it.

The history of the Sand People
XweAponX11 January 2022
All through the Star Wars franchise the sand people are shown as hoodlums or enemies. A people to be avoided or beaten up or eliminated.

But they are not exactly mindless thugs, are they? Neither are they even close to "Spy Kids".

Who knew that they had a rich culture like this? And feelings, and a code of honor? Boba finds himself engulfed in that culture. And now we know how he earned his Gaffi stick...

I like the way these episodes show two different timelines, the present with how Boba stands up against mayors and Hutts, and the past where he learns how to live with the sand people.

In fact it's the story about how he learned to live with the sand people that is very interesting and intriguing. There's a whole history of these people that we never knew.

This has been well thought out and I am eager to know more. But we have to remember that Boba as well as being a bounty Hunter and now a Daimo, (spelling), he is also a Mandalorian.

I just never expected him to have an honorable side.

Expect to see another really cool robot, this one is driving a train across the Dune sea, but I won't tell you for what purpose. As I was saying I never expected this show to be as good as the Mandalorian, but episodes like this are what the Star Wars franchise should be all about. So I was extremely and pleasantly surprised by this episode and the depth within. We have seen Tuscans and Banthas and Jawas and all kinds of aliens and Bots throughout the entire franchise, but we never learned that much about any of them until Jon Favreau started playing in George Lucas' sandbox, and thank God that the sandbox came back to Tattooine.

Instead of showing us the Star Wars universe, the films have been focusing on the major events, the catastrophic events, the death stars, the death planets, the imperial cruisers with giant phallic weapons underneath that can blow up even more planets, resurrected emperors, light Sabre fights across light years, force ghosts, and Diyads in the force, but we haven't been shown much about the peoples of this universe.

There is enough material here to write a book 3 times as fat as lord of the rings, if only we had someone talented enough to write about it and make shows about it. Enter Jon Favreau. He knows how to get into exacting, gritty details, I just wish these episodes were longer and in fact this one was a whole 51 minutes... of course about five minutes of that were the end credits. Episodes like this should become the blueprint for Star Wars stories in the future. And I hope it happens.

Star Wars at its best
thedongwu5 January 2022
This is Star Wars at its best. Steph Green brought incredible directing skills to this episode that blew the premiere out of the water (sorry Robert Rodriguez) while Joseph Shirley flexes what he learned while working with maestro Ludwig Göransson. Temuera Morrison elevated himself to iconic levels of star power and charisma, while the underrated actors playing Tusken Raiders--Joanna Bennett, Wesley Kimmel (yes, that Kimmel), and Xavier Jimenez-- deliver excellent performances without a word of English. This episode had it all: tension and underworld intrigue at the beginning, promising complicated developments later on; moving and beautiful thematic explorations of the Tusken Raiders and Indigenous land ownership that made me cry; and of course thrilling action sequences. Well done.

A Massive Improvement and a Must Watch
TRIDENT17455 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode, and really marks the advance in Star Wars Television, and the potential for the series as a whole.

This episode contained great direction and sequences of intense and mesmerising flashbacks. It is very intense, and you will no doubt, be glued to your screen.

In particular, as a New Zealander, I find it an insult where people call the final dance sequence around the fire "silly". It is obviously a parting farewell to Boba Fett from the tribe, and demonstrates the mesmerising cultural implications of the Indigenous Maori people, and many Aboriginal tribes around the world, in great comparison to the Tusken Raiders. This inspiration further leads to Boba's fighting stick and the ritualistic feel of the Tusken Tribe.

I thought this was a very smart move, and I very much appreciated it.

Moreover, the action is spectacular, references to the Pikes are great, and the essence of humanity in Boba Fett blooms.

However, the episode spends the better part of 10 minutes on the present, and around 40 minutes in flashbacks. Very confused as to if this is the end of the flashbacks or if they will continue to dominate, and subsequently sideline the main story, because from the way the series is constructed so far, I really don't care about the current storyline that much as opposed to the flashback sequences.

Hope the good work continues though, as this is a huge step over a first episode that fell flat.

You're Fett but my gosh, don't you know it.
southdavid6 January 2022
Whilst I wasn't head over heels in love with the first episode of "The Book of Boba Fett", based on some of the professional reviews I read, you'd think it was an unmitigated disaster, rather than just it had one scene that was a bit dodgy. This second episode is unmistakably better though.

Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) is now learning the ways of the tribe of Tusken Raiders, having earned their respect downing the multiarmed creature. His weapon lessons are interrupted by the arrival of a high-speed transport, burning through the desert that attacks the tribe as they rocket by, killing some. Fett arrives at a plan to halt this regular assault. Years later, in Mos Espa, Fett and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) learn that they are not the only party trying to fill the power vacuum in the city's underworld.

Like "The Mandalorian", this episode of "Boba Fett" improved by leaning into the Western tropes that the show utilises. This time it's a train heist, with speeder bikes replacing horses and blasters instead of bows and arrows. The result is still the same though, a high-speed and dangerous takedown that further bonds Fett with his former capturers. There's no action scene in the present day half of the show this time, but the story moves on dramatically as we learn that the mayor himself may not be a direct threat to Fett, but he's emboldened with the knowledge that the Hutt twins lay claim to the town, and bring with them the first live action version of Black Krrsantan, a Wookie warrior in their employ.

If I was to nit-pick, I'd say that perhaps the spice was enough to send Boba into his vision quest and the lizard up this nose was a touch goofier than it needed to be. I didn't bump up against the dance at the end as others have, maybe because I assumed it was more like a Haka than a square dance. It seems interesting that nobody as Mos Espa is thinking, "perhaps we don't need a crime lord at all" but maybe that will play back into the story later on.

Better.

A Man of Culture
bbevis-479546 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the opening 10-15 minutes in Tribes of Tattoine. The tension with Boba confronting the mayor and the slow-drum-pounding arrival of the twin Hutts. The Wookiee that eyeballed Fett from head to toe is a cool presence as well. For better and worse we go back in time again with Fett learning Tusken Raider culture and assisting them with their plights. This leads to an extended action sequence on a train that is thrilling and well-choreographed. Everything else besides the opening ten minutes and the train action sequence is a little boring in my opinion. The story with the Raiders is predictable, cliched and I would rather be back in the present. There is no emotional attachment to the any of the characters in Fett's story. Star Wars comfort food.

An anthropological exposition of the sand people
ScoobySnacks666 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A much better episode and divided into two halves, Part 1 focuses on setting up Boba's antagonists and enemies. The Huts are back and they lay claim to Jabba's former territory. There's also a badass gladiator Wookie working for them that promises some hopefully awesome intrigue and action. Part 2 plays like another of Boba's fever dreams, flashing back into his past with the sand people. From an anthropological perspective Favreau absolutely delivers the goods. Watching Boba learn and live within the Tusken Raider culture is fascinating, authentic and incredibly entertaining. The action was much better this episode and the man behind Boba is transforming into a complicated and fascinating anti-hero. Given Boba's and Fennec's soon to be problems with the Huts, it seems the sand people will likely become important allies.

"LIKE A BANTHA!"
wetmars6 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
WOW, that is a massive improvement over the Pilot episode. The main theme is a fricking BANGER. Boba's relationship with the Warrior Tusken Raiders is very fascinating to watch. I am invested in the exploration of the tribal/cultural stuff learning more about them in-depth like humanizing them which is an interesting idea like I am growing attached to the Tusken Raiders, and feel bad whenever one of them dies. What a surprise there are Two Hutt's taking over Tatooine. Boba must be jealous right now, lol.

The flashbacks are legitimately the best thing of the Episode as I find them more interesting than the present-day setting. ((No, I am not saying that the present-day setting is boring, but I can't wait to see more of it. )) I do like the approach that he doesn't want to escape, but to stay with the Tusken Raiders, I liked where Boba teaches the Raiders how to drive on those rider thingies, and kinda funny where Boba tries to communicate with him on his first try, lol. "LIKE A BANTHA!" The train sequence was amazing to watch. It reminded me of that Episode where Mando & his team were on that train fighting off pirates.

I love the design of the Black Wookiee, it looks intimidating as hell, dangerous, and badass with the warrior spikey stuff on. Trains on Tattooine piloted by a Droid Conductor? I dig that! When the Droid Conductor crawled on its leg, it immediately reminded me of General Grevious, lol. It feels great with the comeback of the Rancor Pit, everybody has a fear of something.

It's nice seeing how Boba became the "man" he is nowadays like crafting his own spear thing, and his black kilt-like wearing that shouts being one of them. Again, it never gets old seeing Temuera Morrison's funny facial expressions whenever he is in combat. Overall, the pacing is boosted to a comfortable level of watching, awesome action scenes including the bar fight, the tribal dance at the end is on another new level that I can barely describe. The design of the two Hutt's isn't that bad, and I personally dig it. Can't wait for more episodes to come!

A Great Episode
abdiluqman-475935 January 2022
This episode was full of emotion and character, we get to learn more about the tusken raiders. The action/chase sequence was amazing kinda reminded me of the action sequence in chapter 15 The believer of the mandalorian. The final dance/cultural ritual of the tusken tribe was great.

My vote is 9.

a Small Star Wars story focused on worldbuilding!
Adam-Piper5 January 2022
I love when they make a story in this universe and it has nothing to do with saving it on a mass scale.

The fact that they kept it small and simple this episode, focusing on the Tuskens was nothing but interesting.

It was action packed, but I didn't even need to be. But the train scene was pretty awesome none the less.

I would have been satisfied with them explaining more into the lore of the Tuskens on screen.

They are doing a very good job at keeping the major story small overall. Not making the implications that the world ends if they lose. Story's like that within a massive universe like Star Wars are always interesting.

Well done, great episode.

The Tribes of Tattooine
Trey_Trebuchet5 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A great return to form for the character and the whole (space) western genre. The final action sequence was incredible. The effects looked great, the choreography was well done, and the action was really gritty and legitimately had weight to it. Seeing this go back to western roots is something I never thought I'd see in star wars so I'm pleased with that.

I'm a bit more interested in present day Boba Fett now as well. This episode provided just enough information and just enough world-build (that's a Wookiee!) to grab my interest. But I must admit that all of the past stuff, Boba making himself at home with the Tuscan Raiders and practically becoming one of them, is what really made this episode and the for one for me as well.

This was a very exciting episode and I trust that Favraeu has something really exciting coming up!

Better and still good, but what is the point?
namob-436735 January 2022
If the first chapter was a weak 7 this is a strong 7. This is still nothing special and I am not sure where we are going with this or why we should care. Will this lead to a criminal civil war? Will Boba meet Omega? I see the directing and chapter and the acting etc but I do not really see an overarching story. After 2 chapters all we know is that Boba want to rule instead of being a bounty hunter and we have got a long background story for how he survived the pit of sarlacc. What is the point with that? Do we have a point?

This week we got more action, a bit more fun and setup and a slightly more expanding story of many of the characters I assume we should care about. And I guess it is nice to get to know the Tusken Raiders a bit more. Might make us feel more the next time we go back and see Anakin slaughter hundreds of them. Everything is still good, still nice, still interesting. But nothing here is brilliant, new or fantastic. This is only good and the main reason why this, so far, has not tickled my Elmo is that we do not know who this story is for, what it is about and why we should care.

This is cool and good, but we need more otherwise that is all that this is and if so I rather watch something horrible because at least then I get to laugh and drink. Although this deserves a 7/10 I also have to state that this far the show is a waste of space.

I really don't care about his time with the sand people, they spend way to much time with this.

2 episodes in and nothing really happened.

I hope this will change but I'm probably too optimistic.

Overall it's a solid episode, my only problem is the story.
