Predictable, stupid, yet entertaining
hnbbq23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of the movie is much better than the second half. The premise is promising but in the end it's just another stupid horror movie where the killer should have died 5 times over but keeps finding a way to come back to life.

Decent

Warning: Spoilers
While there isn't too much original content to this type of thriller, except for a few moments. It was definitely worth the watch and entertaining, although I found the storyline between the couple annoying and almost unwatchable at times. The suspense was fast and immediately resolved, which I thought was interestingly cool, but somehow didn't fully escalate to any big build up. It sort of reached a plateau and didn't go anywhere else. It felt like it was missing the suspense and build up like the suspense in Cape Fear or something.

For me, the best part was Casper Van Dien's performance. I felt it was a surprising and different role that he executed perfectly. Bravo! He was really great at playing the creepy dude. Unfortunately, we can only really assume what his 1-2-3 thing is. It would have been nice to figure that out somewhere. If it was there, I totally missed it.

It's always nice to have some Fahey on the screen. He always wears his roles really well. I quite like Chad and Poppy as actors, but I think the writing needed more umpf to really showcase their craft and talents. It felt as though the writing held them back and didn't offer them enough room as I have seen them rock out in previous roles.

There are some predictable moments, but it was definitely a solid watch. I feel like they could have up notched the cinematography a bit more. Really capture the beautiful scenery.

There was lots of room to reset the relationship woes at the beginning and perhaps have an actual decent pause to show a moment of happiness they once had, and then have the reveal to start the disappointment and relationship issues. A little more yo-yo action instead of the mundane blah all the way through. Even though their relationship is frustrating and on the brink of collapse, the script fell flat there somehow.

As the viewer, I was like whatever, just end the relationship please and move on. I lost empathy on that, which really disconnected me from the film and over interest. It began to shift with the second appearance of Casper Van Dien.

Along the hike, there could have been a lot more moments, perhaps a favourite spot they were at before and had a wonderful moment. Something really to connect the viewer into their relationship and the blossoming love they had for each other.

Fun but not that strong
eongamerdude3 April 2022
It's fun. It's got Casper Van Dien doing some cool stuff and acting differently than he usually does.

The plot is not very good, that's for sure. Predictable and a little jumbled.

Could have been so much better.

Kudos for the 90s vibe. Reminded me of an old Adrynne Lynn film.

Starts Off Bad, But Wait, it Gets Worse...
psxexperten23 March 2022
Bad directing. Bad cinematography. Really bad acting. Boring plot with excessive dialog. That about sums it up.

By far the worst movie I've ever watched in my life If you want to waste your time, and I mean waste it to the point that there is not a single net benefit, this is your movie.

With unoriginal scenes, poor acting skills, and just a terrible plot- this movie has managed to make amazed at just how AWFUL a movie can be.

Disappointing!
schaffin-3946616 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love Jeff Fahey and Casper Van Dien, however, there were several times where all the couple had to do was scream "Just shoot him, he's a psycho serial killer!" Two of the characters had guns pointed at the killer, but the victims never bothered screaming "Kill him! He's a psycho killer!" Lol! I guess then the movie would've been a lot shorter. Lol!

Also, if someone tells you to cuff yourself, would you be dumb enough to cuff your hands behind your back, or instead do it in front of yourself, to give yourself a better chance of escaping?? Duh!

And, when you make it back to the safety of your boat, wouldn't you just start the thing and get the heck out of there? (Instead of showering and changing your clothes first?) Even though Jason says "I can't drive this thing." Once the killer finds them on the boat and they kill him, the boat is seen driving off into the proverbial sunset. Who did the driving then?

Finally, does anyone really think that because you survived a serial killer for a couple of hours on a hiking trail, that you're actually qualified to open your own company called "Survival Training: How to Survive in the Wild." The "Wild"??? Really??? Lol!

Scene and . . . CUT! 🎬

Don't bother with this one
chereenrose11 August 2022
## DNF. Couldn't even finish. Way too much bickering and arguing. That's the first 45 minutes. This couple SHOULD divorce. After that, this movies turns into a horror film. The brutal killings, the blood, and the stupidity of the couple. With 31 min left, I gave up. I just didn't care about these people. The only good thing about this movie (and the sole reason I raised my rating to 3) is Jeff Fahey.

Entertaining
jhr20121 September 2022
Predictable but entertaining. You pretty much know what's going to happen, but you find yourself wondering exactly how.

Casper VanDiem was good as the villain. The couple had a strange love/hate relationship. The husband was pretty much a whimp. But he took a licking and kept on ticking, I'll give him that.

Pretty stupid as well. The first time they met Michael should have been a clue to get as far away from him as possible! You'll see what I mean.

Also, as is usual in this type of movie, if you get the upper hand on the bad guy take him out!

All in all, it was worth a watch. Nice scenery as well.

Tedious
iamMarkPrice23 July 2022
When couples therapy fails, Zoe is thinking about divorcing her husband Jason because he works too many hours. The couple decide to go on holiday to give their marriage one last chance at rekindling their relationship. At a bar Jason meets Johnny Rico from Starship Troopers, only now he calls himself Michael and has an OCD obsession with the number 3 which often has to stretch to make any sense. He's also doing his best impression of Michael from Halloween.

I won't put much effort into this review because it's clear no one involved with this project or much effort into it either.

With the sole exception of Jeff Fahley the acting is terrible. Honourable mentions for Casper Van Dein and Poppy Delevingne whom tie for worst performances. I mean the silent extras do better jobs than these two. Van Dein is still doing his Johnny Rico bit and Delevingne appears to have gone to the same acting school as Paris Hilton.

The script comes across as if it were written by a high school student having their first experience with a camera. Speaking of the camera work is mediocre with weird lighting choices given the context. Cutaway B roll scenes regularly have little to no connection with the A roll scenes either side of them.

Pacing is slow, tedious and yet somehow manages to fail entirely to portray how much in movie time has passed. Every possible opportunity this film misses it. Don't waste your life watching it, you'll never forgive yourself if you do.

What! Did I miss something? Nah
xcitenlady9 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is horrible. I can't believe Hulu allowed this as a 2022 movie! The acting is horrible. The script is horrible. The plot might pass if the acting were better.

Who are these actors besides Casper? Never seen any of them. I also feel the doorman dying and tour guide dying was the best acting in the whole movie.

The filing location looks like a US wooded backyard in Georgia. I can say that Casper with that gaunt look is kinda eery. But he teeth don't seem capped any more either.

You can't even have sympathy for the lead stars because they are not attractive. Casper used to be so handsome. He looks weather beaten and worn. And now we see that a pretty face can't carry you forever.

Just absolutely horrible. , I wonder why am I still watching this!!!!

It's not the best movie by any means but still very entertaining
carkid-791658 September 2022
Everyone is such a critic. This movie won't change your life. You will not be amazed by the acting either. It's extremely entertaining anyways. First horror I seen that involved no weapons. Really original in a lot of ways. If you loved Halloween where mike myers would slowly follow his victims this movie is sort of like that. It's odd but I think this is definitely worth your time unless you're the type of person who really needs the best of the best drink a little and loosen up a bit and you'll enjoy it. It keeps you pretty amped. All in all it's a good movie if you need something exciting but are t looking for an action film.

Talk about making bad choices
ramono25 March 2022
It can be entertaining at points but the cliched bad choices made by the characters had me wanting to roll my eyes so high up they would turn backwards.

Same old
supermellowcali26 March 2022
I've seen so many variations of this story that I almost didn't watch it, and if I hadn't I wouldna missed anything. That said, this was four excellent actors so the play was satisfying even though we knew exactly what was going to happen. Minus a point for stupid victims who knock down the bad guy and run without taking advantage of their being stunned or unconscious (don't we all hate that cheap trick?) Can't recommend it strongly but if you like psycho-killer thrillers then it's not the worst pick of the genre.

Maybe the movie needs more than three chances.
orkneyislander29 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Giving this 4 mainly on the acting of Casper van Dien who does a good job of portraying a truly creepy psycho. The plot was predictable with all the old 'the villain ain't dead' tricks. Why don't victims in these movies finish the villains off when they have the chance? With a homicidal psycho intent on butchering me if I'd managed to disable him I'd be making sure he never got up again! The interaction between the couple was tedious. With the lack of chemistry between them I doubt if they'd ever have bothered to go off on holiday together. Scene with the cop was ridiculous - seems if you've got a hiking pass there's no way you can be a killer! Too many 'meaningful' stops and conversations between the couple when they were running for their lives. Maybe they were giving Michael a chance to catch up with them and end their crappy marriage. Vaguely entertaining...but silly.

Almost a comedy, or did I miss something?
jezwood6916 June 2022
Van Dien is a decent actor who really sold himself out on this. Actually a good story let down by the others appalling acting.

There were so many ways they could have taken that guy out. I know that wouldn't have made a film but at least try and make it a little more realistic.

Your colleagues let you down on this one Casper, and not a bug in sight. !!

what a miserable piece of crap- should get 0 stars
hoops-5343625 January 2023
Don't waste your time, unless your into purposeless violence and inanity. The plot of this movie is total crap and people do things that no one in real life would do.

The villain is not believable and the couple are shallow. Gratuitous violence is the only thing this film has to offer and maybe that is what the writer and director is going for.

Find a better use of your hour and a half or so and knit, or shovel snow, or do your taxes, or just sit mindlessly and stare out the window. Any of those activities would be better uses of your time than this movie.

We should have been smart enough to turn it off after the intro.

Excellent! Strongly Recommended!
autumnheart-555357 April 2022
I enjoyed watching it from start to end. The storyline is so good. Perfect casting and excellent actings, especially Actor Chad Michael Collins in the role of the Assailant's victim, his acting is absolutely persuasive and shockingly different from what we mostly know about him in playing hero characters such as Sniper film franchise's Brandon Beckett.

Strongly recommended!

The *Educator*.....an undiscovered GEM!!!
andyjlytwyn25 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The 'Educator' would have probably been a better title for this unknown gem of a 'horror/psycho/stalker' film. Ignore the negative reviews, it's actually a REALLY good movie if you like this sort of thing, which i generally DO! 'Casper Van Dien' (probably best known for 'Starship Troopers') plays 'Michael', an odd sort of fellow, who gives those unlucky enough to get his attention just 'three' chances to do as he asks. If not you'll regret it! His life's work it seems is to walk the earth 'educating' poorly mannered tourists, which an unassuming 'York' couple with marital problems finds out to their dismay! Van Dien's performance is a joy to watch, scary, intimidating, relentless, just don't be rude around him, he won't like it! 👍 👍 👍
