Sex & Nudity

  • Lydia Tár is seen naked for a couple of seconds in one scene from behind. Also note, the actress is wearing nude colored underwear, the scene is dimly lit and it gives off the illusion that she's nude despite not being. Due to the lighting there are no details unless you pause it intentionally.
  • Some kissing and scenes of seduction. There is a lesbian kiss.
  • Tár helps a woman put her ill mother into a chair who is nude, which is shown somewhat briefly. We see her buttocks, her breasts are covered by her hair, she appears to be wearing something over her frontal area since it's not visible. Not sexual whatsoever.

  • A woman trips on a concrete stair. We see some after views of her injury, with bruises and a little blood.
  • A woman vomits.
  • A woman pushes a man and he falls to the ground. When he stands up, she punches him on his face and also lands several kicks when he is on the ground.

  • 7 uses of "fuck," 1 use of "shit," several each of "bitch," "asshole," "hell," and "goddamn."
  • 2 uses of "Jesus" as profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A few scenes of social drinking (wine/champagne).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Subtle heavy sinister feeling throughout paired with surreal creepy dream sequences and hidden ghosts.
