Mujib: The Making of a Nation Offers a Controversial Take on History and Acting, with Mixed Production Elements.
nktamim12 October 2023
In Mujib: The Making of a Nation, viewers are taken on a journey through the life of a historical figure, but it's a journey filled with bumps and detours. The film's portrayal of history is riddled with inaccuracies, which may leave history enthusiasts disheartened. While the acting is serviceable, it doesn't quite leave a lasting impact, falling into the realm of 'average' at best.

One notable drawback is the choice of background music, which often fails to evoke the intended emotions, leaving a disconnect between the audience and the on-screen events. Costume design, too, falls short of expectations and could have been more meticulously executed.

Arefin Shuvo's dialogue delivery, on occasion, unintentionally injects humor into serious moments, breaking the immersion. Perhaps the most noteworthy concern is the apparent political bias in the narrative. It's clear that one side is disproportionately highlighted, potentially alienating a portion of the audience seeking a more balanced perspective.

In summary, 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation' is a film that stirs controversy with its historical inaccuracies, struggles to stand out in terms of acting, and falters in its production elements. While it has its moments, the overall experience warrants a modest rating of 5/10.

Neglected by the makers
sihabsikdar15 November 2023
Starting with the most important aspect of this kind of cinema. The worst BGM I have ever heard in this era. The direction and the screenplay is too poor. A great direction and a good script with deep execution could have made this historical biography a great power packed cinema. There are so many wrong casting and it leads to make zero impact to some major roles related to the life of Mujib and the events relating 1947-1975. Mediocre visual effects and action scenes. Lazy screenplay and too lengthy run time. To insert some positive lines, there are some moments which really engages audience to feel it but not for a long period. Overall, this is not satisfactory and doesn't connects with audience at all.

Mujib: A Cinematic Tribute with Flaws - Bridging Nations Through the Life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Mujib: The Making of a Nation (2023) embarks on the ambitious journey of chronicling the life and legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a pivotal figure in Bangladesh's history. This informative biopic endeavours to encapsulate pivotal moments and the ethos of Rahman's era. Despite the stature of the director helming this project, the film needed to work on meeting expectations in terms of overall execution.

The performances, for the most part, come across as unconvincing, failing to breathe life into the historical characters they portray. Moreover, the screenplay's approach, which unabashedly seeks to glorify Bangladesh's Father of the Nation, needed more nuance and subtlety, especially ahead of the country's general elections which was held on 7 January 2024 after the release of the movie.

Nevertheless, the film deserves recognition for its attempt to illuminate the life of a revered political figure in Bangladesh. The Indo-Bangladesh collaboration that brought this film to fruition is commendable, symbolising a significant soft-power strategy on New Delhi's part.

This partnership highlights the cultural and historical bonds shared by the two nations and sets a precedent for future collaborative projects. While 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation' might falter in its cinematic delivery, its effort to document and share an important chapter of South Asian history is undeniably praiseworthy.

Lemon becomes bitter when someone mashes it too much.
woodbridgewestvirginia15 October 2023
I recently watched "Mujib: The Making of Nation," and I can't help but express my disappointment with what I witnessed. This film, which claims to tell the story of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's journey in shaping the nation of Bangladesh, falls short on several fronts and ultimately comes across as an over-glorified portrayal that fails to do justice to the historical narrative it aims to depict.

Over-Glorification: The film falls into the trap of over-glorifying its central character, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. While he was undoubtedly an influential figure in the history of Bangladesh, this movie practically deifies him, neglecting the complexities and controversies of his life and leadership. It paints an overly simplistic picture, making it difficult to engage with the character on a meaningful level.

Historical Inaccuracy: "Mujib: The Making of Nation" presents a highly sanitized and one-sided version of the events leading to the formation of Bangladesh. The historical inaccuracies and omissions in the narrative are glaring. It fails to acknowledge the contributions of other key figures and groups in the struggle for independence, thus distorting the complex reality of the era.

Lack of Depth: The film's shallow character development leaves much to be desired. It reduces the supporting characters to mere props, failing to explore their roles and motivations in any meaningful way. The lack of depth in their portrayals weakens the overall storytelling.

Absence of Nuance: What is most concerning is the absence of any nuanced discussion on the challenges and complexities that Bangladesh faced during its formation. The political, social, and economic issues that plagued the nation are brushed over, leaving the audience with an incomplete and unrealistic picture.

Missed Opportunities: Given the rich historical context and the potential for a profound exploration of the nation's birth, "Mujib: The Making of Nation" missed the opportunity to offer a more balanced and thought-provoking narrative. Instead, it opts for a simplistic and one-sided approach that does a disservice to the history it aims to portray.

Finally, "Mujib: The Making of Nation" is a disappointing attempt at capturing the complex and tumultuous history of Bangladesh's formation. While the film may appeal to those looking for a hagiographic account of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, it ultimately fails as a comprehensive and unbiased historical narrative, doing a disservice to the rich and intricate history of the nation.

It is a disgusting movie
nazmussaadat-6357518 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ii is a disgusting movie because history has been distorted by this movie. And this movie is made as a political poster. Here too much false history is shown to create a biography of a political leader. And a lot of true history is left out. The misdeeds of that leader have been erased. True history has been replaced by a picture that has become a poster for that political party. So I think this movie is a history distorting movie. It is my absolute duty to abandon it. I wish everyone would avoid this disgusting movie and spoil the effectiveness of this movie. The authenticity of this movie is very limited.

Meticulous research and recreation of period costumes, sets, and props. The movie's soundtrack and score significantly ups its emotional impact and does a great job of immersing viewers in the era's vibe. As a whole, "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" is an excellent cinematic homage to Bangabandhu and the foundation of Bangladesh. A must-see for history buffs and fans of well-made films with meaningful messages, it teaches as well as motivates its audience. "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" is a cinematic masterpiece that will stay with you because of its historical relevance and engaging storyline. The only people who can't stand this masterwork are the anti-liberal and pro-Pakistani forces, who it reminds of their ancestors' humiliating loss to Bengalis headed by Bangabandhu in 1971.

S a difficult task to convey a towering figure like Bangabandhu in a single film. We are really excited about the film, which was directed by Shyam Benegal and produced under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu's eldest child. Of course, the Mujib biopic will be remembered as a historical document, and it will help to spread the spirit and ideas of Bangabandhu to the people, particularly the younger generation. We hope that all artists, including actors, directors, music directors, cinematographers, and choreographers, have done their best to reflect Bangabandhu's life and works, as well as other historical records.

Mind-blowing story
sarkarbabai-5726328 October 2023
Nence. No true Bengali can deny the greatness of Bangabandhu. He was a pioneer in Bangladesh's campaign for economic freedom after the nation won its independence from the British. Like a dad, he saw the basic needs of his people and met them, establishing himself as the patriarch of the nation.

We consider it a great pleasure that Bangabandhu's daughters, who spent so much time in their father's company in this bedroom and living room, praised our work and enjoyed the video. Shuvoo, along with his co-stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, and Saiful Islam, have s.

Mujib": A Cinematic Masterpiece by Shubo and Benegal
shpndipu13 October 2023
"Mujib" has transitioned into a feature film instead of a documentary. Two aspects left a strong impression on me: 1. Arifin Shubo.

2. Cinematography.

Arifin's performance in this movie was commendable; he bet his good life on it. Witnessing this, Shuvo reminded me of an incident involving India's Aamir Khan. As Aamir Khan delves deep into a film, he begins to think about it even more than the director. Similarly, Shuvo perhaps had the grandest dream for this film, and why not? He constitutes 90% of the entire movie, and the film revolves around him.

Shuvo contributed to this movie for a mere token fee of 1 taka. It's evident that he held 'Mujib' close to his heart throughout the film. This performance stands as the pinnacle of Shuvo's career. In my opinion, this movie is worth watching solely for his remarkable performance.

The cinematography's specialty lies in the fact that most shots are single takes or long takes. I have some knowledge about film production, and I've noticed that Shyam Benegal often captures scenes in a single take, akin to a stage play. Even when a shot requires a change of angle or cuts within the same scene, he starts from the beginning, maintaining his unique style. However, a simple solution would have been to use multiple cameras.

Some of the shots truly surprised me; the camera movements and framing were exceptionally well done. Considering the director is 86 years old, expectations weren't high, but he honestly did not disappoint. He adapted the film to suit modern times.

I encourage every Bengali to watch this film!

This is a false history
rakinahmeddu18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This film is made by a illegal government which is run by autocrat Sheikh Hasina. And this film is only basis of a false documentation of history of Bangladesh. Sheikh Mujib was a great leader but not only leader of Bangladesh. Without him many other leaders have sacrificed themselves to gain liberation of Bangladesh also make a nation. But in this film it's shown that only Mujib is a torchbearer of all movements of Bangalees during Pakistan period. You can see in this film Sheikh Mujib is the main leader of Language Movement. But He wasn't. At that time He was a student leader only an He was in the jail.

A Great Film filed with lots of emotions!
tamimrayhan-7261623 October 2023
Those people who were against the creation of Bangladesh are going to hate this movie, and we can see a lot of negative comments are from those traitors! You you keep politics aside, this is a wonderful Bengali Film, a watch for Bengali film lovers, both Indian & Bangladeshi. I have watched thousands of movies including English, Hindi, Bengali... The storytelling of this movie is great, not only for a Bengali film but as a film in general. Cinematography was great too, camera work was done nicely. Only downside is VFX and scarcity of extras. Movie like this should be done with massive budget, it wasn't cheap to make this movie either. The budget was around 83 crore, more money and time should have been spent to VFX department. Still a 8/10 movie! Recommended 👍

Great acting
rebasannyasi28 October 2023
Genuine account of Bangladesh's history Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation's father. Some issues arose as a result of the filmmaking process, which could have been more flawless. However, as a biopic where the main guy had a Himalayan height like personality...it was extremely tough for the main actor to perform more good like him. Arefin Shuvo gave his all as Bangabandhu, and we may say it was a watershed moment in his career. Others tried their best as well. The history of Bangabandhu's political and personal life is too vast to cover in 150 minutes. However, the director has done an outstanding job. Overall, a terrific film that is based on actual events and is entertaining to see.

Mujib the Making of a Nation : Immediate Response
badhonmkb14 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The trailer didn't do it justice at all, Mujib movie gave us quite a few fascinating scenes in a very unexpected way. But it was not perfect, the list will be very long if we want to calculate the shortcomings. So I understand that Shyam Benegal ended the movie with the death of Sheikh Russell. Really like the whole movie, the killing scene of baby Russell in the dying lap of Bangamata numbs all the senses for a while.

Mujib is an emotional movie. Once you get into the emotion, you will enjoy the rest of the time. But the absence of some historical characters, events in the second half will spoil the attention. And if you remember the scenes of the August 15 incident, you will really feel numb for a while

But if you can't pay attention to the movie in the first 15 minutes, the countless inconsistencies of the entire movie will give you a hard time.

Totally lose project of a nation Bangladesh, False story is Added in some scene.
kamal-6185717 October 2023
"Mujib - The Making of a Nation" attempts to depict the life and achievements of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh. However, despite the significance of the subject matter, the film fails to deliver a compelling narrative and falls short in its execution. From the disjointed storytelling to the lackluster performances, the film disappoints on multiple fronts, failing to do justice to the incredible journey of the man who shaped a nation.

Weak Script and Disjointed Storytelling: The screenplay of "Mujib - The Making of a Nation" lacks coherence and fails to provide a cohesive narrative. The film jumps haphazardly between different periods of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's life, making it challenging for the audience to connect with the protagonist and fully comprehend the events unfolding on screen. The lack of a clear timeline and narrative structure undermines the film's ability to engage and immerse the viewers in the story.

Inconsistent Performances: Despite having a talented cast, the performances in "Mujib - The Making of a Nation" are inconsistent and fail to leave a lasting impact. The actors struggle to bring depth and authenticity to their characters, resulting in shallow portrayals that lack emotional resonance. Even the lead actor, tasked with depicting the iconic figure of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, fails to capture the charisma and gravitas associated with the historical figure, leaving the audience disconnected from the protagonist's journey.

Superficial Character Development: One of the film's major shortcomings is its inability to provide meaningful character development. The supporting characters, including political figures and Mujib's family members, are underdeveloped and reduced to mere caricatures. Their motivations and relationships remain poorly explored, preventing the audience from forming a strong emotional connection with the characters and limiting their impact on the overall narrative.

Lack of Historical Context and Depth: While attempting to portray an important chapter in Bangladesh's history, "Mujib - The Making of a Nation" fails to provide adequate historical context and depth. The film glosses over crucial events and political complexities, leaving the audience with a shallow understanding of the socio-political climate during that era. The missed opportunity to delve deeper into the complexities of nation-building and the challenges faced by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman undermines the film's potential as a historical drama.

Uninspiring Cinematography and Production Design: The visual aspects of "Mujib - The Making of a Nation" also fall short. The cinematography lacks innovation and fails to capture the grandeur and significance of the portrayed events. Additionally, the production design appears lackluster, with sets and costumes that do not effectively transport the audience to the time period in which the story unfolds. The overall visual execution feels uninspired and fails to enhance the storytelling experience.

Overall very bad
siyamsheikhfb18 October 2023
In the realm of storytelling and performance, the art of acting is often regarded as a powerful medium through which narratives come to life, leaving a lasting imprint on the minds of those who witness it. However, the subjective nature of this craft means that experiences can vary widely, and sometimes, one may find themselves disappointed in the portrayal of characters and the unfolding of historical narratives. It's in the delicate dance between expectation and execution that the nuances of disappointment emerge.

To say that acting is "very bad" is a sweeping statement that warrants a closer examination. Acting, as an expressive form, is an intricate interplay of emotion, body language, and dialogue. When an audience perceives it as "very bad," it raises questions about the alignment between the actor's interpretation and the viewer's expectations. Perhaps the nuances intended by the performer got lost in translation, or the portrayal failed to resonate with the viewer's emotional spectrum.

The historical context in which a narrative unfolds adds another layer of complexity. History is a vast and multifaceted tapestry, with each thread contributing to the overall narrative. When historical events are portrayed on stage or screen, there's an implicit responsibility to balance entertainment with accuracy. The term "history elucidated" suggests a desire for clarity and authenticity in the portrayal of events. Disappointment may arise when the artistic liberties taken overshadow the historical truths, leaving the audience feeling detached from the reality they expected to witness.

The phrase "overall experience is very bad" implies a holistic dissatisfaction that extends beyond the realm of acting and history. It delves into the broader aspects of production, including direction, cinematography, and perhaps even the script itself. An unsatisfactory experience could stem from a lack of cohesion in these elements or a mismatch between the director's vision and the audience's reception.

However, it's crucial to acknowledge the subjective nature of artistic endeavors. What one person perceives as a flaw, another might interpret as a bold artistic choice. The beauty of storytelling lies in its ability to provoke varied emotions and perspectives. While one viewer may find the acting lacking, another might appreciate the vulnerability or uniqueness brought to the characters.

In navigating the landscape of disappointment in acting and historical elucidation, it becomes an opportunity for constructive critique and dialogue. Rather than dismissing the experience outright, engaging in discussions about the choices made in the production could offer valuable insights. It might unveil the intentions of the creators, providing a more nuanced understanding of their artistic decisions.

In conclusion, the intersection of acting and historical representation is a delicate dance that requires a delicate balance between artistic interpretation and audience expectation. While disappointment is a valid emotional response, it also opens the door to explore the intricacies of storytelling, inviting conversations about the choices made in the pursuit of bringing narratives to life on stage or screen.

Seeing this film will lead to the liberation of the people of Bengal. I enjoy learning about past events and eras. Among today's youngsters, Mujib will be a household name. The Bengali people's campaign for independence from West Pakistan was led by the well-known and much respected Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, or Sheikh Mujib. He played a crucial role in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which saw the country gain its independence from Pakistan. The biography will most likely include his early life, his involvement in politics, his leadership throughout pivotal times in Bangladesh's history, and his vision for the nation. His influence on other politicians, as well as his beliefs and legacy, may be investigated.

Though unobtrusive, visual effects assist the tale without overshadowing it. They provide a current cinematic insight into the past. It's upsetting to see bad reviews that are motivated by political bias, because "Mujib" deserves to be recognised for its cinematic greatness. Despite the political turmoil, the video shines out as an homage to Sheikh Mujib and an important historical document. The direction of Shyam Benegal delivers a compelling watching experience, awarding "Mujib" a well-deserved 10/10. This video is a must-see for everyone interested in South Asia's rich history and culture..

Generation via the eyes of up-and-coming performers. It seemed hard to do justice to such a towering person as Bangabandhu in a single film.

Movies like "Mujib - The Making of a Nation" are great tributes to historical periods, and this one in South Asia is no exception. This film, directed by the legendary Shyam Benegal, depicts Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dogged efforts to establish Bangladesh. Benegal's expert narrative and the stellar performances transport viewers back in time to relive the era's excitement, hardships, and triumphs. This video does more than just retell the events of the independence struggle; it also inspires tremendous pride and reverence in its viewers. For film aficionados and history nerds both, this is a must-watch. The governments of Bangladesh and India worked together on this film. And only the most talented performers were cast. I felt like I was transported to the 19th century while I watched the video.

It can be make better
ijazuma13 December 2023
The plus points are : (a) the story is fairly balanced in terms of history (b) provides good account of the events and (c) filmized in a very simple way, no extra.

It can be make more better by adding the real events of the time whose videos are available online. For example, the speech of Bhutto, the statement of Yeha and General Niazi.

The film does not provide sufficient details about the killing of Mujib. It is not clear from the events that why the rogue element Bengali force killed the father of the nation.

By and large, it is a good movie to understand the events of 1971 and the creation of a new nation on planet.

The true form of Sheikh Mujib
cpasoeib19 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It is a fake biopic, the hero of this movie Mujeeb was a goon and dictator but the movie portrays him as a hero. Extr The director's origins from the same country cast a dubious shadow over the storytelling process, seemingly manipulating the narrative's perspective. The portrayal of such an iconic figure becomes difficult to swallow under these circumstances.eme lies have been done in this movie. As the film is overshadowed by the regime, it seems the story is overly manipulative. A film of this scale and a film about a massive character falls short massively. The performance of the main characters are pathetic which is obvious because they're trying to portray something without any genuine background and their only purpose is to satisfy their master by oiling her feet.

"Mujib's Biopic: High Hopes and Mixed Emotions - A Moviegoer's Take"
ahsanrubel21 October 2023
Last night, I had the opportunity to watch the film "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" at Modhumita Cinema hall, a place I hadn't visited in nearly 25 years. My expectations were high because the movie had been in the making for almost two years, with a budget of 83 crore, and it was directed by the legendary 88-year-old filmmaker Shyam Benegal, who had previously directed the biopic "Netaji Shuvas Chandra Basu: The Forgotten Hero," which I had also seen. However, it's important to note that biopics, by their nature, often struggle to achieve 100 percent accuracy, and this challenge is even more pronounced in the case of iconic or conventional figures. That's why having a disclaimer at the beginning of such movies can help viewers better understand what they are about to watch.

As a movie enthusiast, I must recommend the film "Gandhi" if you haven't already seen it. In my opinion, it's one of the best biopics about a political figure, highly praised for its historical accuracy. It allows the audience to connect with the protagonist in a truly believable way. Another noteworthy biopic, directed by the famous Steven Spielberg, is "Lincoln." Unfortunately, "Mujib" falls short of these standards due to average acting, inconsistencies, and a lack of connection with the audience. Portraying a character as monumental as Mujib, who had numerous highs and lows in his life, is an incredibly difficult task. I also felt that the film focused more on Mujib's family life as a regular person than his political career, and other prominent characters didn't get enough screen time to truly shine.

Nonetheless, I did appreciate the first and last songs in the movie, and the color grading was well done.

As a nation of movie lovers, I hope that "Mujib" marks a promising beginning for the biopic genre, with the prospect of even better movies to come in the future. 👍

This film tells us a great deal about my upbringing and the lives of my parents. This movie shows us parts of history we never knew existed.... This movie will be spoken about for years to come. This film does an excellent job of conveying the greatness of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, and the sacrifices he made for his country. The new generation and future generations will learn about his [Bangabandhu's] significant contributions to the great Liberation War thanks to 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation.

"Controversial Film: A Propaganda Piece in Disguise"
binziadtarique18 October 2023
A particularly concerning aspect of "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" is the perception that it serves as a vehicle for political propaganda. The film's release coincides with a period of intense political scrutiny, with allegations of authoritarianism against the ruling government. Consequently, it's difficult not to view the film as a calculated attempt to reshape public opinion and to bolster the regime's legitimacy by presenting a more favorable depiction of a historically complex figure.

The film appears to selectively omit, embellish, and manipulate well-documented historical events to fit a particular narrative. This skewed depiction diminishes the historical accuracy that any film purporting to be a historical account should uphold.

Furthermore, the film's portrayal of events is biased. It focuses heavily on elements that align with a specific political narrative, while sidelining any aspects that might cast a less flattering light on the central character. This selective storytelling not only distorts historical reality but also deprives the audience of a more comprehensive understanding of the historical context.

In conclusion, "Mujib: The Making of a Nation" serves as a stark reminder of the need for a critical and independent media to evaluate the actions of those in power. It emphasizes the importance of approaching such films with a discerning eye, skepticism, and an understanding of their potential for political manipulation. It underscores the responsibility of filmmakers to uphold historical integrity when dealing with subjects of historical significance. While art has the power to shape collective memory, it should do so with the utmost respect for the truth and a commitment to responsible storytelling.

Fantastic movie

When Arifin Shuvoo met with the great Indian director Shyam Benegal, he told Benegal that all he ever does is fight bad guys and try to win the heart of pretty women. In the Indo-Bangladesh film Mujib: The Making of a Nation, directed by Shyam Benegal, a 41-year-old Bangladeshi actor named Shuvoo assumed the role of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. "When my pictures were sent to Benegal sir, I was buffed up as I had been working on my action film Mission Extreme," Shuvoo said. In all of my prior performances, I had never played a revolutionary, politician, or senior citizen. Before I was cast as Mujibur Rahman, I had to go on a total of five auditions, two in India and three in Bangladesh. Shuvoo was thrown in at the last minute to the 2019 producti.
