Peaceful enjoyment.

If you need a break from cruddy language, explicit sex, rape, torture, and bloody faces, this is great. A vacation from stressful viewing. I enjoyed the Canadian gentleness. Even if it is a murder mystery.

Better mystery, which ain't saying much

I liked this episode. It was better than the previous movies in this series which felt like a one hour plot stretched over two hours. I must say that I like corny mysteries like "Murder She Wrote". This isn't that, but I really enjoy the main cast especially Jesse Metcalfe. The writing is getting better. However, they should make him a part time cop so it isn't so frustrating watching him do cop stuff.

Stop the music!!

Story is pretty standard Hallmark. But why don't the people making these films just listen to the unnecessary LOUD music before turning the finished product loose on the public. Sometimes it is so loud you can't hear the dialog.

It Stunk

Another Martha's Vineyard story filmed in Canada and with the same weak cast of regulars.

Absolutely idiotic that this retired cop (Jesse Metcalfe) runs around the island with the lame female doctor in tow demanding to see bank records, personal information, arresting people, harassing people, chasing people etc when he has ZERO authority to do so. The island's chief cop (and doctor's daddy) shares all kinds of privileged information with these two. No one every says a word. It's all illegal and their cases would never stand up in court.

Ditto the female doctor who blabs all sorts of information about patients, autopsies, test results, etc. And never seems to work for more than an hour at a time. She spends all her time chasing after Metcalfe.

Oh and maybe import some shaving equipment over to the Vineyard. It seems none of the young men ever shave.

Poison in paradise

A nervous Katie Leonard (Britt McKillip) approaches him with an unknown problem, and he, sensing that she's in a world of legal trouble, advises her to report her concerns to the police. She never gets there and instead ends up dead on the side of the road. Feeling guilty about brushing her off, Jeff jumps into the investigation alongside Chief Madeiras. Immediately they suspect foul play since Katie died not from an accident but from a heart attack due to poisoning.

An ok mystery set in a shipping area, has a fairly diverting narrative, though the hero can be bland and the plot is routine. Sarah Lind is a really beauty and I liked her acting.

Disappointing

The story could have been a good one, but the acting (or the directing?) was off, seemed to me to have overacting, be unnatural. The filming location was pretty obvious that it is not really Martha's Vineyard.

I hope the real Marthas Vineyard is warmer

Everyone so wrapped up here clothes wise. Did Jesse Metcalfe really dodge Chesapeake Shores for this? Mind you the money may be better for him in which case OK that is fair enough.

It is an OK story for a wet winters afternoon I guess but nothing outstanding. So record and save for then.

Orchid's, Kombucha, and Money play a roll in this hallmark mystery
cgvsluis14 June 2022
I am sorry to say that I just don't feel the chemistry between our two romantic leads. The mystery was ok, but not very engaging...and as someone who brews their own Kombucha at home, it would have been nice to see that accurately portrayed on film instead of the fake colored water with no scobies in sight!

This is not my favorite of the Hallmark mystery series. That distinction lies in one of the following Aurora Teagarden, Hannah Swensen, and Mystery 101.

A mystery crops up involving money, gambling, a dummy corporation, a bank, and a waitress who brews her own kombucha that needs to be solved by out big city retired detective and the town's medical examiner.

5/10 - I personally am not the biggest fan of the Martha's Vineyard Mysteries series, but this was passable.
