Well, granted, as I sat down to watch the 2021 thriller "My Brother's Keeper", I wasn't exactly harboring much of any expectations, having read the movie's synopsis. But I opted to watch the movie regardless, as it might turn out to be a surprise of a movie and actually be a great one.
Yeah, well, it wasn't.
Writer and director Karlton T. Clay just didn't manage to bring anything of any entertainment to the table. And the movie just fell short of being enjoyable for me. Perhaps I wasn't exactly the target audience for a movie such as this.
The storyline told in "My Brother's Keeper" was pretty straight forward, but offered nothing new to the thriller genre. In fact, it wasn't really much of a thriller, as I would assume a thriller would require a movie to bring up your pulse and keep you on the edge of the seat. Yeah, "My Brother's Keeper" didn't really manage to do that. It was quite the opposite really.
The characters in the movie were pretty bland and the dialogue the actors and actresses had to work with was just atrocious.
Then there was the music in the movie. Yeah, I am definitely not a hip hop man, so the music that permeated the movie was just not sitting well with me.
For a thriller then the 2021 movie "My Brother's Keeper" was a massive swing and a miss. This was more of a drama than a thriller. So you might want to keep that in mind if you opt to sit down for watching this movie.
