There are so many directions that a Spy x Family could pursue. The ongoing anime has a deeply versatile story structure that allows it to indulge in diverse missions so that the series always feels fresh. Accordingly, it’s seriously surprising to see Code: White function as a covert cooking anime movie.
It’s the type of story that audiences would expect to see in a Food Wars! or Toriko feature film, but not Spy x Family. It’s also an ambitious approach to Spy x Family’s first movie that hedges its bets and is too cautious to disrupt the status quo. Code: White is still rich in classic Spy x Family elements, even if it amounts to an empty meal.

If big wins at The Anime Awards weren't enough, now Guinness World Records is touting the success of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Guinness is using data from Parrot Analytics to give Jujutsu Kaisen the distinction of "most in-demand animated TV show," a title that has been in the hands of Attack on Titan since 2020. Those calculations aim to determine "demand" based on metrics like "attention, engagement, desire and viewership." Social media engagement ranges from likes and shares to related hashtags, and viewership is centered on downloads and streams. They also factor in "research" actions like looking a series up on sites such as IMDb. Actions like streaming carry more weight because of the effort required, apparently, but the bottom line is they've deemed Jujutsu Kaisen to be pretty darn popular. The One Piece anime was in the running, too, but Jujutsu Kaisen hit a surge near the end of 2023 that carried it over the hump.

Jujutsu Kaisen is getting more interesting with each chapter. Since Ryomen Sukuna began his rampage, people have been skeptical of the King of Curses’ true powers. But as time passed, his number of kills increased. He killed Satoru Gojo during the battle of the strongest. After killing Kashimo Hajime, he gained his original form from thousand years ago, and since then, it has been a one-man show.
Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori formed a great tag team, but it was not enough to put down the King of the Curses. With Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 255 knocking on the door, fans have already welcomed the spoilers. The spoilers featured a strong Jujutsu sorcerer entering the battlefield and fighting Sukuna. He was last seen in Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Gege Akutami’s hatred for one of their most important characters Gojo Satoru has been a topic of discussion for a long time. There have been multiple instances where Akutami has expressed their hate for the character. They even went to the lengths of calling him a mob character during the second season which was reported by @soukatsu on X(Formerly Twitter).
Gojo and Geto
Although Gege has never stated the reason for their enmity, it may stem from Gojo’s God Complex. In contrast to other characters, Gege unintentionally gave Gojo too much strength. Gojo’s inclusion in the story therefore prevented Gege from inventing any fresh, credible threats, which unintentionally caused them to develop a dislike for their creation.
However, this hatred has now reached a new level. Akutami might have taken another opportunity to express their hatred towards the character. This time they have also involved Gojo...

Jujutsu Kaisen manga is slowly approaching its end, with the mangaka having confirmed that they will try to wrap it up by the end of 2024. However, the window feels to be too little to reveal all the mysteries surrounding Gege Akutami’s magnum opus. One of the biggest mysteries of Jujutsu Kaisen is Ryomen Sukuna. Except for being the King of Curses, there seems to be no information available about him.
But the fans may have found the source of his massive Cursed Energy with the latest fan theory. Unlike Satoru Gojo, Sukuna never revealed his origin or the source of his power, but the latest fan theory claims him to be the embodiment of anti-love. This factor, according to the fan theory, has helped him gain such godly powers.

There have been thousands of distinct manga created in the realm of Japanese manga, spanning a wide range of genres and themes. Some works like Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, One Piece, and more have shot to the top of the charts, regardless of when they started, how long they’ve run, or how many volumes have been produced. Their success is usually determined by the number of sales the manga has accomplished.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Although One Piece by Eiichiro Oda typically tops these lists, it appears that Jujutsu Kaisen, the magnum opus of Gege Akutami, has eclipsed it as the most popular manga, accounting for 7 of the Top 15 volumes sold in the United States in January 2024. This speaks for the wave Jujutsu Kaisen has created since its release.
Although the cultural impact of Akutami’s manga is difficult to measure, Jujutsu Kaisen manga’s overall success can be inferred from the raw sales figures.

Although Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of elements that make it one of the best anime and manga series of all time, there is one aspect of the series that is very much underrated. This aspect is its theme songs that too have developed quite a love from fans because of their catchy tunes and possible hints in the animation.
Jujutsu Kaisen
From Lost In Paradise to Specialz, Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has managed to nail the opening and ending themes of the series that may not look like much but is a very big achievement for any anime series as fans usually tend to skip the opening and ending themes and focus on the storyline in between of the episode.
In regards to this, Akutami has shown great gestures towards the creators of one of the most talked about opening themes of Jujutsu Kaisen, King Gnu.

Everyone knows that Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, hates Gojo Satoru. However, there have been many instances that prove that they love Yuta Okkotsu and, in a way, may have wanted him to be the original protagonist of the series. Despite being a side character (although important), Yuta gives the main character vibe more than Yuji Itadori.
Yuta Okkotsu in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2
The plotline in the series since the beginning has shown that although Yuji has potential, he is not able to achieve success until and unless someone helps him one way or the other. Be it Sukuna, Aoi Todo, or any other character, Yuji has always needed someone to help him or rescue him.
However, that is not the case with Yuta. Since Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Yuta has been self-sufficient against some of the biggest enemies and managed to break out of some of the worst situations.

Among the countless other reasons that make Jujutsu Kaisen the best new-gen anime and manga franchise, the most prominent was the friendship between Geto and Gojo. Fans loved their chemistry on screen and always wished the best for them. Unfortunately, Gege Akutami had different plans as they made vile sorcerer Kenjaku take over Geto’s body after his demise.
Kenjaku
When viewers thought that Geto would never be back, Gege, as usual, shocked their fans once again when Geto subconsciously moved his arm and tried to choke his own body in Shibuya. However, this was never explored further, and what could have been the perfect beginning for the comeback of Geto was left behind.
Gege Akutami could have bought back Geto using this scene in Jujutsu Kaisen
Since Gojo Satoru came back from near death, the idea of a dead person coming back has been discussed among Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

The hosts of a One Piece themed variety show had the opportunity to tour the Jump editorial department a few weeks ago. During this visit they ran into the editor of Jujutsu Kaisen manga Junya Fukuda, and talked to him about different things, including the ending of the manga.
The hosts were initially shocked to see the rough draft of the Jjk chapter that Fukuda was editing, and their reaction suggested that the manga had some crazy twists in store for the fans in the upcoming weeks.
As Fukuda and the hosts talked more, it came to light that author Gege Akutami has already decided on how Jujutsu Kaisen manga would come to an end. According to Fukuda, Akutami explained everything to him till the end, accidentally, in a meeting.
“He told me like how he wanted things to go. and he’s got it all planned out,” Fukuda told the hosts.

When it comes to Shounen anime, more often than not, it happens that the remarkable, most anticipated arcs are difficult to follow up, resulting in a drop in qualitative aspects, as seen in the cases of some of the most popular titles like Bleach, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, and so on and so forth. The way the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen peaked with the adaptation of the Shibuya Incident arc, fans are skeptical whether the series will be able to surpass it in the third season, which will be released after a year or so. It remains to be seen how well the makers adapt the ensuing storyline from manga, but there are ample hints and plot points provided in the course of this season that can be used to create a narrative that can match up to the brilliance.

It had been a quiet couple of weeks at the box office until "Wonka" arrived to liven things up with a bigger-than-expected debut. Luckily, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" has had long legs, or theaters would truly be in rough shape, as Disney's "Wish" flopped pretty hard and "Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce" didn't hold nearly as well as "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" did. Jjk Season 2 episode 21 featured an additional scene, in which Todo is seen in a girl’s uniform alongside his favorite idol Takada. This sequence actually plays out in Todo’s head while he is fighting Mahito.
While Todo’s cross-dressing part was well received in Japan, it received backlash from Arab fans, who cited that cross-dressing was a sin in Islamic religion.

The Japanese Film Project (Jfp) released the results of a survey that was conducted to investigate gender disparities and improve the working environment in the Japanese film industry’s production sites on Dec 12, 2023.
This time, the survey expanded its scope to include both anime films and also theatre works. In addition to that, the new survey also examined the gender ratio in “assistant roles” in the anime film industry, instead of just focusing on the decision making positions.
The movies that were considered for the survey included One Piece: Film Red, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Suzume no Tojimari, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond, Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night, and others which released in 2022 and managed to earn over 1 billion yen in box office revenue.

Voices That Bring Anime to Life: Celebrating the Best Anime Voice Actors of All Time ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Japan takes its anime voice actors very seriously to the point where they have special voice acting academies and schools to train them to master their art completely. This is exactly why these professionals are so versatile and have such natural, golden voices. In fact, a large number of avid anime fans prefer watching anime subs rather than anime dubs exactly because of this. Some Dub actors tend to exaggerate and overact as a way to compensate for the inconsistency in translations and syncing. Native voice actors retain the ‘authenticity’ that dubs lack.
The authenticity of the subs is attributed to the voice actors’ talent and how natural they are with their jobs. Here are some of the best Japanese anime voice actors of all time.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) animator Nishii Terumi, who has worked as an animation director on various anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures, said that the anime industry was bound to collapse soon.
Terumi isn’t someone who has shied away from pointing out the malpractices in the industry. This time too, she has highlighted an issue, which she feels would make the anime industry come to an abrupt end, once the veterans like Hisashi Kagawa and his generation retire from the industry.
Kagawa is a prominent animation director who has worked on Sailor Moon and other iconic titles.
Terumi wanted to point out that it was high time that the anime industry and studios started taking the aspect of training new animators seriously.
“It’s seriously in dire straits. Once the generation of artists like Mr. Kagawa is gone, everything will come to an abrupt end.

Gita Rebbapragada grew up reading manga. Becoming the chief marketing officer of Crunchyroll, the world’s leading streamer of anime, was “like this kismet thing that happened,” she said.
Math was her favorite subject in school, she told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View, but “I also loved art. To me, they’re like this perfect blend of the two things about design and stories.”
That led her to the burgeoning field of performance-based marketing, which she called “a marriage between art and science.”
That passion for math and a love for how entertainment connects people brought her to Sony as an SVP of marketing in 2018. She moved over to Funimation, which Sony combined with Crunchyroll in 2021.
Combining the marketing organizations and catering to the quirks of anime fans, she realized, required a common skill: listening.

This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 part 1.
Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has been a breakout hit ever since its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2018. In only five years, Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga has sold more than 80 million copies and is currently the 27th-best-selling manga of all-time.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime adaptation has proven to be just as popular, with its first season winning several awards, ranking at the top of many lists, and even becoming 2021’s second most discussed TV show on Twitter, anime or otherwise. Not to be outdone, the anime’s first feature film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, is currently the ninth-highest-grossing Japanese movie ever made (beating the likes of Pokémon: The First Movie and Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke). Clearly, excitement for Akutami’s dark signature shonen series isn’t going anywhere. This popularity buys the anime a lot of goodwill and trust with its audience,...

As the global streaming business underwent a surprise, secular reassessment last year, Sony’s anime service Crunchyroll found the whole industry suddenly contemplating the same strategies it had been prioritizing for years. Out was the gusher approach to content spending in pursuit of limitless subscriber growth. It's the start of a new week, which means another anime film making big bucks at the box office. At this point, it shouldn't come as a big surprise that the release of an anime film, especially one based on a hugely popular TV show -- let alone one as popular as "Demon Slayer" -- would make bank, but here we are.
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba -- To the Swordsmith Village" took the fourth spot at the domestic box office in its opening weekend with an estimated $10.12 million gross (via Box Office Mojo). This is just under "Cocaine Bear" and its $11 million haul in its second weekend. Indeed, the first weekend of March was a pretty great time for anime fans in general. Cinema admissions in Japan grew by 32 in 2022, reaching 152 million, according to data published Tuesday by the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan (Eiren).
In revenue terms, Eiren shows cinema box office growing by almost the same proportion to 1.24 million. That cements Japan’s position as the world’s third largest box office territory behind only North America and China.
The Eiren data for 2022, however, diverges significantly from figures from other sources as it runs from December 2021 to November 2022. That means it omits December when “Avatar: The Way of Water” was released and when box office worldwide received a significant lift.
Given that Eiren’s data for 2018-2019 showed earnings of 2.00 billion from admissions of 195 million, the 2021-2022 figures appear still substantially below-pre-covid levels.

2022 has been another big year for anime and manga in the United States. This fall's "Chainsaw Man" anime is earning rave reviews. "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" earned 32 million worldwide in its first week. Netflix's "Cyberpunk Edgerunners" convinced folks to give the messy "Cyberpunk 2077" another shot, rocketing the game up the Steam rankings. On the manga front, the blockbuster success of Junji Ito has led publishers to take chances on other horror artists like Kazuo Umezu and Kanako Inuki. There's even a fledgling indie manga movement in the United States, with small publishers like Glacier Bay Books and Star Fruit Books distributing titles that might never otherwise see the light of day. We're long past the time of executives chopping up anime series in the editing docket to be marketable to American children. Anime and manga are now respected in their own right, if only because it sells.

It’s hard to say just when One Piece crossed the line from cult manga comic to global media phenomenon.
But with 15 feature films, more than a dozen television specials and multiple video game spin-offs, not to mention Eiichirō Oda’s original comic, which has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates have become as well-known to the current generation of fantasy fans as those of Harry Potter were to the one before.
The latest One Piece feature film, One Piece Film: Red, was the first to go truly global, earning 198 million worldwide as of Dec. 2, according to box office analysts at Comscore, making it the sixth most successful Japanese film of all time.

In the early days of the Academy’s animated feature Oscar, there were questions as to whether enough films would qualify each year for the award to be given. Not anymore! This year sees a record number of contenders across a wide variety of genres, styles and audiences, from serious, adult-targeted films (like “Charlotte” and “Eternal Spring”) to boffo offerings from Hollywood’s top toon studios — and that doesn’t even count such anime franchise sensations as “One Piece Film: Red” and “Jujutsu Kaisen 0,” which didn’t submit but further illustrate the vitality of the form.

The sappy and satisfying teen rom-dram “The Quintessential Quintupluets Movie” stands out among this year’s bumper crop of movies based on popular Japanese anime series. Much like other recent anime crossover hits, like “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” and “One Piece Film: Red,” “The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie” primarily addresses its franchise’s established audience.
You either already know who’s who and what’s already happened prior to this movie’s events, or you’re likely to get pretty lost.
That kind of insular appeal might seem like a handicap for uninitiated viewers, but several anime franchise spinoffs have already dominated the Japanese box office and enjoyed weeks-long, nationwide releases in American chain theaters and multiplexes. “The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie” also has all of the melodramatic revelations and puppy-love intrigue of the preceding anime series, based on Negi Haruba’s manga comics.
