Aileen's real mother goes under the surname "Spool", the same last name as the woman who claimed to be Norman Bates' real mother. And like Mrs. Spool, Aileen's mother works at a diner.
The film is structured similarly to "Showgirls" in many aspects, from it beginning and ending with Aileen (Nomi in "Showgirls") meeting up with the driver she assaults to mispronouncing a fashion label.
