Rajat kapoor has nailed it again by coming up with a very unique movie

the story is totally new and fresh and has made also very well with super performance by rajat kapoor..only people like rajat kapoor can bring such new ideas on a very low scale

it was so fun so watch a different concept and be gripped till the end..some might find it stupid but one has to accept new things which updates the industry in a better way

vinay phathak and neha was missed.

A different style in indian cinema but needs improvement
anankit-7775619 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Idea of the story was good but execution was not.

A movie character came alive in real world but everyone behaving like it's normal for them no one is shocked, it looked like that happen pretty regularly.

Ending was not that great it just seems flat ending no suspense at all.

The change we all need
ChopraParth0122 July 2022
Yeah there's no car chase, no thunder or webs, no action sequences either.

This film shows how you don't need the above chemicals to make a product which does immensely well at delighting you.

The idea is truly innovative and artistic, and perhaps something all of us have wondered atleast once in our lifetime. The humor does a fantastic job of being there precisely when needed, and not once trying to force a laugh out of you. The actors, too, do a great job in portrayals.

The pacing sometimes loses grip of attention, but that's all fair and fine in the bigger picture (literally, watch it in theatres. We need more films like these).

Real Kudos to Rajat Kapoor!

'buri buri filmein log independent ke naam pe dekh lete hai'

Rajat kapoor's contribution to film industry is being hidden for many years. This film will make you laugh, will make you think about what the hell is going on here. Every actor has done a wonderful job here be it ranvir shorey to kubbra sait and malaika sherawat. These movies, even though goes through a hard way to make it through mainstream lines but they are better in off-the-beat cinema because the essence is there.

you don't need big stars or big wallets
beevenkat24 July 2022
Filmmaker RK has finished filming his latest movie where he plays the protagonist. While being edited, something bizarre occurs. The lead character, Mehboob, vanishes from the film and enters the real world. He starts living with RK and his family and refuses to return to the reel world. What happens next? #RKRKay, by actor-director Rajat Kapoor, is quirky, funny, experimental and certainly worth watching. Actors Mallika, Ranvir, Kubbra, Manu, Chandrachoor deliver good performances and prove that you don't need big stars or big wallets to make an eloquent film. Rating 3.5/5.

A bollywood Cult Noir like Martin Scorsesic style
shernawaz29 December 2021
A movie far ahead of its time.

Amazing story, beautiful Urdu speaking style, by Rajat Kapoor.

Rajat Kapoor's life best acting and direction like Matin Scorsese.

Beautiful performance of Mistress Sharawat.

Bollywood has lost an actor like Ranvir Shorey but Rajat Kapoor always brings him in a brilliant role.

This movie is not for everyone, it is for those who want to see some new kind of movie.

Bollywood is still immortalized by making such films.

From start to finish, great experience.

Will win the Best Critics Award.

You exist. But you don't really exist.
chand-suhas9 December 2022
This meta comedy involving RK (Rajat Kapoor) an actor-writer-director in search of his first success is making a movie & while on the edit table, the hero of his movie Mahboob (Rajat Kapoor), within the movie goes missing. He makes the transition from reel world to real world. The situations that arise out of this leads to some hilarious, some profound scenes leading to the creator crisis.

Several scenes stood out during the interaction between RK & Mahboob. Real highlight are the scenes with Gulabo in the second half. Once you buy into this premise, Rajat Kapoor really delivers. A fictional character coming into the real world has always been a fascinating concept to me & the way the writer's complex is inserted here came out really well. For that third act to work, I wished there was bit more drama involving Mahboob's existence in the real world & his bonding with RK's family to get the desired impact. Even then, this is still a deserving watch.

What works is Mehboob alam
pranay_misra10 September 2022
Movie was little strange to me when main events start to execute but thereafter when we get mehboob alam on real life, it was full of lively moments. Mehboob alam was really a character which we all want.

Now i can discuss alot about the movie but all that will be spoiler but i saw it yesterday night and when i think about the movie, i get a smile on my face because it was a small cozy limited budget picture which sweetly tickles your heart in a good way.

Kudos to whole team for making this movie and taking us into a whole diffrnt world which for its run time, really was little dream like but it was a good dream.

Just Like The Hero, The Logic Is Also Missing From The Film.
SAMTHEBESTEST24 July 2022
RK/RKAY (2022) : Movie Review -

Rajat Kapoor has brought experimental cinema to life with his comedy drama, RK/RKAY. However foolish the title sounds, believe you me, the film is one step above. RK's entire concept is not acceptable even if you are making or seeing a film in your dreams, then just forget making and watching it in real life. Rajat Kapoor brings an insanely mad idea of 'lost and found', but misses the logic that is never found. RK/RKAY turns out to be a curse for progressive filmmakers who want to use artistic liberty for the digitalized metaverse. Thank God it was a film within a film, otherwise people would have lost faith in artistic filmmaking forever.

RK (Rajat Kapoor) is an anxious director who has written a sober love story with a tragic ending and has somehow finished shooting the film even before the given schedule. In the post-production process, the editor learns that the hero, Mahboob (Rajat Kapoor), has gone missing from the reels and has entered their real world. RK and his team try to send him back to his reel love interest, Gulabo (Mallika Sherawat), while RK himself goes through a process of surreal emotions during the same period. What happens in the climax shouldn't be spoiled here, but I don't think it would be difficult for you to predict what happens.

Rajat Kapoor as a writer has gone beyond imagination. He wanders aimlessly in some deserted land where finding a sensible scene is more difficult than finding water in Thar. How can a man go missing from reels? You keep thinking about the answer and then you have another question: how can he enter real life? Even a UPSC topper would give up here. Then just think about normal people with normal IQ. The screenplay takes you into a dark, complex and illogical world with no proper gag. Was that a comedy film? Where was it then? I didn't laugh even once in those 96 minutes. Have they changed the criteria of the comedy genre or what?

Excluding Rajat Kapoor, no other actor looks promising in the film. Even for Rajat Kapoor, RK's character looks real with some good moments here and there, whereas Mahboob's character is nothing but the same face trying cliched expressions and outdated dialogue delivery. Mallika Sherawat seems to have forgotten how to act. The melodramatic expressions reminded me of Suraiya's great performances in "Anmol Ghadi" (1946) and "Mirza Ghalib" (1954). Mallika tries to be that allegorical in 2022, but oh well, that's too much for her. One cannot believe it if I say that Ranvir Shorey's so-called improvised act is terrible. He is so loud and horrendous. Thankfully, Kubrra Sait and Manu Rishi Chaddha have got normal roles. At least somebody did something normal here.

RK is a well edited film, though. You can't bash the editor for the footage. That's one lesson you learn from the film (if you didn't know it yet). RK's entire process has been done with no lavish set-up, so whatever the technical aspects have to show you is definitely very good. What RK/RKAY lacks is logic in the writing. It doesn't matter how you act, how you edit and how you direct the film if your writing doesn't make any sense. RK happens to be one of those rare films. Rajat Kapoor made the film with the help of crowdfunding, but I wonder how not a single person from the crowd stopped him from making this film. More than money, it would have saved everyone's talent and time, including ours, to view it.

RATING - 3/10*

Incredible Piece Of Indian Cinema
AryanD1512 September 2021
With incredible direction, acting and a very well written plot, Rajat Kapoor's RK/RKAY is a very unique and enjoyable film. The storyline/concept is fast-paced, intriguing and overall competently constructed. Must watch for all cinema lovers.

Unexpectedly entertaining
truetool-8803924 July 2022
I went to watch it without any expectations. The plot is unusual to say the least, and it takes some time to make sense of what is happening. Once you figure it out, the twists keep you hooked. Rajat Kapoor and Ranveer Shorey execute their roles well, and Mallika Sherawat acts for a change. Overall the movie is thoroughly entertaining and funny and deserves a good deal more than the 7 stars it currently has.

Good movies went unnoticed
yosanto-2176822 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Again a good movie went unnoticed just because it doesn't have any action, thriller sequence, item numbers & a big star cast. I think Rajat Kapoor is a next level writer but he needs appreciation to keep going which he is not receiving, i know, i know people want entertainment they don't really give a damn about story, content or imagination they just want to see car chase, gun fires, fighting scenes, but if you are not one of them i suggest you to watch this movie at least once , for once I thought I'm watching a Hollywood movie, and in last i just wanna say box office numbers doesn't define movies.

A fascinating Cinematic Experience! Rajat Sir Won Heart!
michelgarrison17 December 2022
Rajat kapoor has proved himself yet again, as a fan and admirer of him & his raw and engaging creative projects, I found this film truly fascinating - A blend of a unqiue concept and its amazing Cinematic execution, with plethora of realistic performances! Watching this film was a much fun and immersive experience, but you may enjoy it only if you allow yourself to get inside the movie with an open mind, opened to that world, and this time, a world which is a bridge btw reality and fantasy.

First you get to know the crew and creative minds off the camera, in a much interesting and 'real-to-believe' manner, sometimes it was so engaging and brilliant, that i thought maybe the actors did leaked their original talk into the film. Knowing the little up and downs and jokes the crew makes about the actors, the actors's nakhre, what goes on while planning/executing a scene, directors producers talk, and editing a scene, all was awesome to watch, and you can connect. But i believe there was a bit disconnect when suddenly the Rk's character came to life, there was no clear explanation or sense behind it, it just comes out. But again, I think its fair for the love of the cinema, that this kind of freedom is what you should give to some good makers trying to showcase something out of the box, and to yourself, to enjoy any fiction. When you look it with those eyes, you will find the beauty of this artwork, and what it is trying to showcase and make the viewers experience.

What happens or can happen when someone's imagination out of nowhere steps into the real world and that imagination starts to live your life and even get closer to your family? That is the core marvel of this film, its fun, its believablity. Also, yes, its sometimes confusing, or irritatable, but if you look it with eyes of wonder and fantasy, it all blends in to make a worth to live experience with good jokes, chills and at times, especially at last, tries to get little bit deep into the makers perspective about the life of anyone. Climax end twist was also fascinating, we saw it already but it may take a bit to understand what it really meant, and it shocked me when I realised it!

Overall, much like other marvellous films Sir Rajat Kapoor made over his career, "Rk/Rkay" was an Uplifting, Pleasing, Great Cinematic Experience. Must watch atleast for once!!!

Magic realism that breaks the 4th wall
abhinavsays4214 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Huge fan of Rajat Kapoor. Incredible tales. This time he weaves magic realism in neo-noir while breaking the 4th wall - something of a first in a bollywood movie. For this brave attempt itself, it deserves a 9 star.

The movie combines mid-life crisis, existentialism and wry humor and packs it with some amazing performances by the caste. It reminded me of three movies - Lucia (Kannada) that fuses the real and the imaginary, Ulta-Pulta which is also directed by RK and has similar breathtaking turn of events and Andhadhun - for the kind of ending.

There will be times in the movie when the idea overpowers the script and it feels that the script is going nowhere, but in reality I realized that the characters were evolving and it was needed to bring out the existential dearth of the protagonist which I believe is the real motif of the movie.

Fantastic
mva140828 October 2022
Like most good films in India this one has limited viewership! Probably a great film because of the absence of superstars!

I saw it on the big screen and must confess was sceptical because there were very few of us in the hall! Why did I choose to go in the first place? Because I'ma compulsive movie goer ? Nope! The reputation of Rajat the writer!

The genre is not that easy to define! IMDB says 'drama'! Well, every film is drama! But this film has a large portion of everything that you would like in a film; fantasy, comedy, suspense and one can think of some others too!

The crazy part is it takes you out of the real world into a world of 'what if ...?' What if an on-screen character ....? What if ???? So many questions!

But most of us can't think through the chain of events to make a coherent story! This film and this story do exactly that! I'm amazed at how one could do that!

I had so much fun watching this film just imagining how it would be if this happens or that happens and was in splits most of the time! Absolute gem of a film!
