Good Historical Movie
petroskapoyr28 March 2021
My family and I watched the anniversary film of the Holy Metropolis of N. Ionia, N. Philadelphia, Chalkidona and N. Heraklion "Where are you Nikitaras" on March 25, 2021 written by Marigo Mpouri and directed by Theodoros Kolovos. With the participation of the members of the parish theatrical group "The Time Machine" of the Holy Temple of St. Marina of New Philadelphia in collaboration with the theatrical group "Floga Hellas", who play the historical characters of the film adaptation. Firstly, we singled out the playing the young Panagiotis Arvanitis, in the role of Capatain Nikitaras, where he duly honored and with the prestige that the bio of the great hero of 1821. The director, actor Theodoros Kolovos dynamically held the role of uncle and General Theodoros Kolokotronis and presented him as the greatest Patriot of Greece. Stressing many times, that "God put His Signature and does not take It back". Really, the surprise of the night 25th March and the one we all enjoyed in the anniversary movie and we did not know him as an actor, is Leonardo Thimo, in the role of Grigorios Dikaios Papaflessas. His Interpretation and Physiognomy do not go unnoticed and his resemblance to Archimandrite Papaflessas make him a great new Greek actor. The special tone of his voice has remained in our ears like the old classic Greek black and white films of the Classical Greek Cinema. Also, I want to say a huge congratulations to the Director of Photography Nektarios Souldatos and the Composer Nikolaos Theotokatos where they beautifully dressed with images and sound of the scenes of the beheading violence of the film as well as the wonderful landscapes that frame the film of 1821. Summing up at the end, I want to say that in the 200 years of the Greek Revolution of 1821 for Freedom and my own-hero 71-year-old grandfather is not ashamed to say like a simple cinephile human: That the Representation for our Greece in this anniversary film is reminiscent of classic films such as: The Lake of Sighs, I Limni ton Stenagmon (1959), Papaflessas, I megali stigmi tou '21: Papaflessas (1971), Manto Mavrogenous (1971), The Trial of the Judges, I Diki ton Dikaston (1974), and if the character of Manto Mavrogenous was not missing from this movie, we would be talking about a Masterpiece Film for the epic of 1821.
