Not as bad as you would think
juliethood10 December 2022
Tonight I decided to watch something silly whilst the football was on. I settled on Hollyblood. I'd had it on my watch list for a while, but kept putting it off because I wasn't in the mood for a silly horror film. It was silly, very very silly. Its a film that has a parody of a film in it, the titular Hollyblood. The scene from that are cringeworth, but also in some parts laugh out loud funny. Its clear from the outset that Hollyblood is a spoof of Twilight, and thankfully it only shows us two scenes (one where the main male characters are shirtless and growling at each other). Getting into the film itself, its about a girl (Sara) who loves Vampires, a new boy (Javi) who likes her and a hapless Vampire hunter. The script itself isn't the best, and the acting is patchy but the scenes between Javi and his Dad are pretty funny, just bordering on cringeworthy.

Full of clichés and questionable acting
aronharde16 September 2023
Hollyblood is full of clichés from the vampire subgenre and has to deal with actors who are forced to portray characters that they don't fit at all. For example the main character Javi is played by a good looking dude who seems to be the complete opposite of what his character is supposed to be, a shy and nerdy weird dude with no confidence at all. There are other characters that I think were miscast, because the acting in general was not convincing, especially from our main protagonist. The movie also leans a lot towards the comedy genre and while some jokes or characters really worked in that aspect many of the scenes were just straight up unfunny. I personally really enjoyed the scenes with our protagonists father and some scenes with the young Van Helsing wannabe. And in general I thought some of the characters, even though they were really cliched were at points interesting. But overall the movie was more of a teen drama with some comedy aspects than a horror movie and like I said there were many aspects of the movie that didn't work for me and took a lot from the overall enjoyment. Only recommend if you are a hardcore vampire comedy movie fan. [4,3/10]

Tepid Teen RomCom
johnspringer-9544011 February 2023
It's a parody of Twilight that arrives about a decade after Twilight stopped being relevant. Since Twilight's already been parodied ad nauseum the basic premise of this movie instantly feels a bit stale. The cast is affable and there are some funny moments, although they're too few and far between to sustain any kind of comedic momentum. (To be fair I watched with English subtitles, which undoubtedly threw off the timing of some of the dialogue-based humor.) The movie doesn't quite manage either the outright silliness or the sharpness its concept demands. Too often it feels like a straight remake of a teen romcom rather than either a zany send-up or a subversive indictment.

Too bad there is no 0 star rating for this
opticuscro29 September 2022
First and foremost, I would mention the obvious things, this movie is actually a perverse parody of twilight. The film is very offensive from a Catholic perspective, as if it was filmed to serve that very purpose, which surprises me a bit because it comes from Spain. The theme of the film is somehow uninterestingly tangled, it lacks the adventurous and action spirit that a film like this should have. There are some attempts at comedy within this film, but the attempts themselves are nothing really funny. The film is full of woke trend content as if it was filmed for this very purpose. Uninteresting, boring, this is an insult to fiction and comedy, terribly bad. In any case, I didn't manage to watch it to the end, I don't recommend this. Then again, what else can you expect from netflix, a bunch of woke content with bad acting and boring stories!?

Ummm...

This looked great in the trailer and I was so keen to watch this. Horror and comedy is a genre I absolutely love and we're seeing more and more of it being released and I love watching them as they come. Netflix seems to be investing in these horror comedies, which is exciting to me.

This movie.. however.. I don't even really know what to say - it was that bad. The storyline was super cringy and weird. The acting wasn't great either. Possibly could be because of the dubbing, things don't always translate as well. But regardless, they all looked super awkward in their roles. I have a feeling they were all first time actors also.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because occasionally there's something funny that happens, but otherwise, pretty horrible.

Definitely wouldn't watch a second time. And definitely wouldn't recommend, not even for background sound.

Worst movie, avoid
subhradeepshah9 September 2022
This is the worst acting, worst movie I ever watched. How come Netflix can introduce such pathetic movie.

Mindless, worst movie of all time.its just a time waste movie. Don't watch if you want to save your time.not a single instance where we can say movie is worth watching.

There is nothing called plot, if I can give 0 rating I would have given 0 rating to this movie.

There is no plot, just some random story. How come someone can make such a distasteful, worst acting movie. The final fight with the vampire looks like some cheap stunt with trying to be funny but failing in that as usual. Till the end I thought it might be somehow good, but no. Yuukkk.

What in the Hell did I just watch
khadidjahbintsalafi31 January 2023
Come on Netflix are you serious right now. It's bad enough you have B- and C rated movies but this tops the cake in bad movies. Some of the worst acting I have ever seen. Looks like an elementary school filming project. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. The screen spoof movies were so much better and I didn't even like them either. I guess I a. Not a comedy fan butthats just me. Even writing you this I feel like I am wasting my time but I also need to warn those people who like vampire movies, this is not the movie to watch. It is utterly boring. It is like random acting thrown into a movie. Did they even edit it?

Humor me
kosmasp12 September 2022
No pun intended - you have to suspend your disbelief, but you have to get in line with the style of humor this throws at you. Humor is always something that may work for someone and not work for someone else entirely. Especially when it is as silly as it is here.

Add the horror factor into it and you may feel cheated in a way the movie did not intend to cheat. We get a feeling that the main character may be telling stories - and it is quite obvious, but he has the heart in the right place. When he is not lying that is - can you really blame him though? I guess you can - but also again, it is a silly comedy. Something that I don't think is meant to be a bluepring on how to behave. Not to mention that certain things are not even possible (and plausible) in the real world anyway ... sit back, relax and let this wash over you. Otherwise you'll likely be annoyed.

Not overly great...
paul_haakonsen15 November 2023
I had never heard about this 2022 movie titled "HollyBlood" prior to sitting down to watch it. So I didn't really know what I was in for, aside from it being a vampire-themed movie. I figured that I would be in for a horror comedy of sorts, given the movie's synopsis. I hadn't checked the movie out on IMDb prior to watching it, however.

The storyline in "HollyBlood", as written by José Pérez Quintero, was not a particularly entertaining story. The plot was rather uneventful, and that made the narrative feel rather slow paced and mundane. It was as it there wasn't enough action or plot milestones throughout the 87 minutes that the movie ran for.

It felt like director Jesús Font's 2022 movie "HollyBlood" was somewhat of a spoof on the "Twilight" franchise.

The acting performances in "HollyBlood" were good. I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, and that is something I enjoy when I sit down to watch a movie, as there are no associations to previously portrayed characters in other movies.

While I did manage to sit through all 87 minutes that "HollyBlood" ran for, I have to say that I found there the movie has absolutely zero replay value. So this is not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.

My rating of "HollyBlood" lands on a four out of ten stars.

I did not expect this to be so good.
missmishka14 April 2023
No idea why this doesn't have a higher average rating unless it's because Twilight fans can't take a joke. I, personally, LOVED how the "HollyBlood" movie within this movie pokes fun at the Twilight saga. Especially how it loves shirtless men acting all aggro and buff.

The only thing I loved more than that was Javi's dad, Fernando. The recently divorced dad energy was so well played. His encouragement to Javi, after assuming his son is something other than straight after seeing the HollyBlood site on Javi's laptop, is so funny but also a genuinely endearing attempt to connect and show a child that you love them regardless of their sexuality. Jordi Sánchez acting, his expressions and body language, was just perfect for this story and he absolutely stole the movie for me.

The subplots with Diego, the wannabe vampire hunter, and Carmen, Sara's "disabled" friend are so good that going into any more detail about them would spoil how delightful they were. Isa Montalbán played the character of Sara so well and Óscar Casas was priceless as Javi. The weird little gym teacher and ridiculous dance sequence in gym class was hilarious. The real vampire was good, but that's where the movie starts to plateau for me.

The Manu bully storyline was my least favorite, but teen movies of this sort do always have an obnoxious bully so he serves his purpose well. The ending also falls flat for me. With so many moments that made me laugh out loud throughout the movie, I just think there could have been something more to parody how these teen movies typically end instead of having the exact same kind of cheesy happy ending. The "HollyBlood" fight scene from the movie within the movie was priceless, though.

A fun high school romantic comedy with a vampiric twist
Tweekums8 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sara is obsessed with vampires and regularly chats about them online with another girl... at least she thinks she does; the other 'girl' is in fact her shy classmate Javi. He has a crush on her but can't find a way to approach her. Then one day his actions, following an accident at the screening of the film 'Hollyblood', she comes to believe that Javi is in fact the vampire Azrael. This could work to his advantage but for a couple of problems; another boy at the school considers himself to be a vampire slayer and a new pupil might actually be a vampire!

If you watch this hoping for scares or gore you will be very disappointed; however if you want a comedy that provides a decent number of laughs you could do a lot worse. The plot may be silly but it provides a stream of amusing moments; highlights include Javi's father misunderstanding what he's doing online and trying to be understanding but only causing embarrassment and the spoof of aspects of the 'Twilight' films in the 'Hollyblood' film within a film. Things get a bit silly towards the end but it is still amusing. The cast is solid enough, although most look far too old to be playing school aged characters... of course that could be mocking the way Hollywood often does the same. Overall I'd say that this was better than I expected; certainly worth a watch; just don't expect any real horror.

These comments are based on watching the film in Spanish with English subtitles.

A few young flicks
alutesthome9 January 2023
So. There is no way that this movie can stand even for a Monday night. I really enjoyed the tussy of the co star I don't remember her name. Except that the whole scenario is a parody of vampire style movies.

Weak effects, no trace at all in the dialogue and it keeps reminding me the whole gay, lesbian modern style of having normal relationships. I can't of course interfere in that because this period of human life is on the front of everything.

If you are bored and have an hour or so to spend without making cookies in the oven (which I recommend) watch it standing in front of the oven waiting for the cookies to cook.

A surprise
jeffpagtalunan9 September 2022
Exhausted preferred viewing material on Netflix, so I started looking at shows or movies that deviate from my usual and came upon this title. Judging by the title and the poster, my expectations were already not very high, and were confirmed within the first 5 minutes. Nevertheless, I continued watching. Overall, the acting and dialogue can be a bit mediocre, not to mention the special effects and makeup, but by the end of the movie I felt as if that was intentionally done to add to the comedic effect. The comedy was what kept me watching. Whether it was what someone said or done that made me laugh, the comedy seemed evenly spread out through the movie and kept me engaged. There were definitely scenes and dialogue that had my laughing out loud. This movie is great for those wanting a good afternoon or evening laugh without having to get too involved in the storyline.

Really nice
gianmarcoronconi14 September 2022
Really really good movie and a lot of teenagers, maybe too much and that can be a problem. The film was born and grows as a parody of the classic films with teenage vampires and in this it succeeds magnificently by stealing in full all the stuff that makes those types of films ridiculous, in addition to this the film manages well to be a comedy in its own right thanks to several comic shoulders and situations that make you laugh and smile. Apart from this, however, the film is very trivial and in more than one point it is slightly too over the top and difficult to accept for how the situation is posed. Ultimately, however, the film does exactly what it has to do, entertains and entertains.

Not for fans of Twilight.. or dubbed movies..
ronan7316 September 2022
This film constantly pokes fun at hollywoods attempt at rewriting the vampire story like Twilight. I presume thats why people are scoring it 1..its definitely not that bad.

Maybe the low score is because certain sections of society do not like the broad humour in this. It pokes fun at all sorts of people and judging by netflix and other streamers, making fun at someone's expense is now illegal in the west...I think.

Its silly and a bit childish in places and yes there are some blatant plotholes and ropey stunts but turn your brain off...as I say in a lot of MOVIE reviews I write..THIS IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY! Dont judge it as one.

This is Spanish made and anyone who has travelled will tell you that tv and movies in a lot of countries isnt the greatest. A lot of countries still only have 2 or 3 channels outside of satellite channels. So just getting a film produced and made inside the country is no mean feat... But then sadly it gets judged alongside massive budget hollywood blockbusters..instead of an equal judgement like it should get.

But the more foreign stuff you watch the more you will realise how hollywood and the like ran out of ideas decades ago so now just use their platform to politically brainwash people instead of just entertaining people, because thats all most people want. Entertainment. Bread and circuses.

This is a 5 but gets an extra point to help the business of entertainment.

Lol brilliant

Warning: Spoilers
A micky take of twilight with some laugh out loud moments. A cool father & Van Helsing wannabe.

A young girl obsessed with vampires, music very similar to the twilight soundtrack (yes I'm a sad twilight fan)

It was utterly ridiculous but very enjoyable.

Condoms filled with holy water, a father who loves his son so much he goes along with a ridiculous story that his son is a vampire.

The actual vampire is fed up he can't get a bank account.

I'm a hard-core horror fan but this amused me greatly.

There's everything silly in it. A girl who's in a wheelchair throughout the whole movie then just gets up out of it. As a wheelchair user this amused me.

The kids these days will identify as anything if it suits them.. Crazy nun & priest.

The dance scene is great. The lead actor does awkward well.

Dumb fun
A_Male_Specimen1 April 2024
IT is honestly not the best movie out there. Far from it, but it is very much so no trying to be. What it is however is just plain dumb fun and silliness/goofiness. I went in with no real expectation and it was a real fun watch.

I can whole-heartedly recommend this film as a watch for anyone into movies so "bad" they are good because this is just 100% the perfect fit for that. The actors do a good job but the casting seems to purposefully have been done in a way that mocks the usual casting of teenagers in Hollywood (Clearly Adults with 5 o'clock shadows and what not).

TLDR Goofy, funny and certainly worth a watch (at the very least for people who enjoy movies that do not take themselves too seriously)

I watched it in English which honestly just added to the comedic effect in my opinion (OG in Spanish)
