Filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green seemingly rose quickly in Hollywood. Still, the reality is he toiled away in shorts and TV for years before his big breakout feature-length directorial debut, “Monsters and Men,” made a huge splash at Sundance in 2018. Still, everything seemingly changed overnight, and in quick succession, he helmed “Joe Bell” with Mark Wahlberg, a critically acclaimed series (HBO’s “We Own This City”), and directed Will Smith to an Oscar Best Actor award in “King Richard” among other projects.

With all the drama in the world, sometimes the best way to keep from succumbing to its evil is to let the music ground you. Bob Marley’s famous tunes let the world release its tension in a different way when faced with conflict. It lets you groove to the beat of the human heart. It comforted you like a warm blanket or a caring friend or family member. Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Bob Marley: One Love, which tells the story of the musician who dared not to let tragedy take his message and his love for the people.

2021 was unquestionably the Summer of Cena, as John Cena appeared in "Fast 9," "The Suicide Squad," and the truly delightful "Vacation Friends." The latter was, in this writer's opinion, the first comedy film since "Blockers" that truly knew how to play to Cena's comedic strengths as a leading man, and pairing him alongside Lil Rel Howery ("Get Out'), Yvonne Orji ("Insecure"), and Meredith Hagner ("Search Party") was a recipe for comedy gold. The film was a huge hit on Hulu, snagging a sequel greenlight less than a month after its debut on the Disney-owned streamer. Less than two years later, the foursome is back for "Vacation Friends 2," reuniting with writer-director Clay Tarver in the process.
The sequel picks up a few months after the first film, which saw Ron (Cena) and a pregnant Kyla (Hagner) finally tying the knot, doing so with their new friends Marcus (Howery) and Emily (Orji) by their side.

David Corenswet has landed the part of Clark Kent in James Gunn‘s Superman: Legacy, which is set to be released in theaters July 11, 2025.
On Tuesday, Gunn, the director and co-chairperson of DC Studios, announced that Corenswet will suit up to play the role of Superman or Man of Steel, along with Lois Lane, who will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s star, Rachel Brosnahan.
Fans noticed Corenswet’s similar appearance to Superman actor Henry Cavill long ago when he debuted on Netflix’s The Politician.
He tried to play it cool on the comparisons. “I am officially not taking a position,” he told EW in 2019. “I think that’s the way to go. But it has come to my attention. It actually came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me, and my sort of pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.”

After an extensive search for the actor to fill the role of Superman in writer/director James Gunn’s upcoming DC reboot “Superman: Legacy,” 29-year-old American actor David Corenswet has won the coveted role. He’ll star alongside Emmy-winning “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actress Rachel Brosnahan in the new Warner Bros. film, which is slated for release in 2025 and will officially kick off Gunn’s rebooted (and interconnected) DC universe.
Much like the actors who donned the tights before him, Corenswet isn’t a complete unknown but also isn’t (yet) an incredibly recognizable performer. Consider this your primer to get to know the new Man of Steel.

James Gunn has found his hero: David Corenswet has officially been cast as Clark Kent/the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman: Legacy. He’ll be joined by Rachel Brosnahan, who has been tapped to play Lois Lane in the DC Studios film. Gunn himself confirmed the news on Twitter, adding, “They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people.”
The news comes after a months-long talent search. Both Corenswet and Brosnahan’s names have been at the top of the pile since May, while Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney were also vying for the cape and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor were up for The Daily Planet’s star reporter. Reports that Gunn and his co-dc Studios boss, Peter Safran, had screen-tested all six actors earlier this month signaled that a final decision was near.

James Gunn has found his Superman and Lois Lane.
After a lengthy search, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will star in Superman: Legacy, the film that will launch DC’s new universe under writer-director Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss, Peter Safran.
Corenswet and Brosnahan were among six actors who vied for the lead roles, with Gunn filming screen tests over the June 17 weekend with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney also in contention to play Superman/Clark Kent and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor in the running for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
Few roles are as coveted — or come with as much pressure — as Superman. That’s doubly true in the current landscape, as Corenswet will anchor a new universe as DC attempts to reinvent itself after a streak of misses with October’s Black Adam, March’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods and the recent The Flash. Only...

Following months of audition tapes and in-person screen tests, Warner Bros and DC Studios have their new Clark Kent and Lois Lane. David Corenswet has been set to play Superman while Rachel Brosnahan is on board to play Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.
The decision comes after the two were among the few selected to test in front of DC co-chairs Peter Safran and Gunn (who is directing) in full costume and makeup for the parts.
The tests took place over two days with the men; one of the days saw the three actors in full Superman attire. Sources close to the situation said that each actor had closed test deals that would expire after two business weeks, so clearly all parties wanted this sorted out before a potential SAG-AFTRA strike, which could go into effect at midnight June 30.

Deadline has reported that DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are clearing their calendars for screen tests for a little over a week from now. TV Writer David Simon Says Industry Is Going to “Infantilize Itself” if AI Is the Future for Scripts
David Simon, television writer known for The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street, is sharing his thoughts on artificial intelligence in Hollywood and writers rooms amid the ongoing strike.
During a recent interview on NPR’s Consider This podcast, Simon said, “I’d rather put a gun in my mouth,” than use AI to help write scenes for scripts.
He added, “I don’t think AI can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.”
The use of AI has been one of the topics at the center of discussions in the film and TV industry, especially during the Writers Guild of America’s contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Writers are concerned and want to regulate the use of AI.
It’s also one of the reasons, among others, that led to negotiations between the WGA and AMPTP faltering at the...

Shout! Studios presents The Magic Flute by Florian Zigl, executive produced by Roland Emmerich, at 325 theaters with expansion likely. A reimagining of the Mozart opera, it follows a present-day teen sent from London to the Austrian Alps on singing scholarship at the legendary Mozart boarding school. There, he discovers a century old forgotten passageway into the magical world of Mozart’s famed opera.
This Harry Potter-ish adventure fantasy stars Jack Wolfe as Tim Walker, who passes from school into the world of the opera and its many adventures as hero Prince Tamino. Wide releases may be picking up steam and Scream, but in terms of new specialty, and family fare, these isn’t much new competition this weekend.
Melissa Boag, EVP of Family Entertainment at Shout! Studios, hopes it will play with fans of magical adventure, Harry Potter, and classical music. Wolfe is a star of Netflix YA series Shadow & Bone.
