Autumn Road
BandSAboutMovies25 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Riley Cusick, who has directed a number of shorts and appeared as an actor in Chelsea Stardust's Satanic Panic and Joe Begos' VFW, makes his feature directorial debut with this film while also playing the roles of twins Charlie and Vincent.

A decade after her sister goes missing on Halloween, Laura returns home to make peace with the past, but comes back into the world of the twins who now run a roadside attraction. She has nowhere else to go and can't connect to her family, so she keeps falling deeper into their world of madness.

Yet as she grows closer to one twin, the other goes further down his own twisted path, as these three are all haunted and all on a journey that seemingly has only one dark close. I really enjoyed this film as it's just as much a slasher as it is a very human story.

I was also happy to see Friday the 13th Part VII star Lar Par Lincoln show up.

Autumn Road is most definitely worth your time. I thought it would just be a vanity project for Cusick, but now I'm excited to see anything and everything he does in the future.

Solid Indie Effort
thegrimmshaw4 February 2022
One of the other reviews claims to "love low budget horror" and then gave this movie a 2. They obviously don't actually watch indie and low budget movies, because Autumn road is leagues above what I consider a 2.

Acting, sounds, camera, directing, all better than an average indie. The story has soul but i agree with others that it is slow and a bit incoherent at times. BUT it's a well written s tory with well written characters. Likely someone's passion project.

I would also point out that it is much more drama than horror.

Good movie
spacyblu16 June 2022
I liked this movie it had a kind of haunting feel but then most movies about kids going missing usually do. The actors and actresses did a good job. The movie could have moved at a little bit quicker pace but it was a pretty good effort on everyone's part. I think with more of a budget the director Riley Cusick could make something even better I would definitely watch his next movie.

No redeeming features
amathaine-74-41525624 November 2021
This was uniquely bad; the acting is terrible, the pacing so slow watching paint dry would be more entertaining and faster. I love low budget horror, even the bad ones that weren't trying to be b movie, but this? Save yourself the wasted time. No idea how this got ratings over 2 stars.

Disappointingly stupid
jamarr_693 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I will apologize as I'm neither a director or screenwriter but this movie is stupid. There's not much consistency between the dialogue and storyline. Between the past flashbacks and current storyline running one can't make heads or tails of what's going on until the very end of the movie but by then you want to punch whoever directed this for all of the stupidity that happens within it. I've seen worse low budget films though if that helps any. Also also while another review said these boys were twins. I just didn't see it one boy was considerably taller and older looking than the other as children so don't get how their the same agree and lookalike when their older. Only adding to the stupid storyline.

I've said it before

And I'll keep saying it. When the director is also the writer and in the film, it usually ends up awful. And this was no exception. I'll give it to the guy playing his own twin. They didn't look a like at all in the movie, whether that was intentional or not. But everything else was awful. Volume, pacing, acting, dialogue, setting, etc etc. Truly was a waste of time even as background noise as I played my switch. Stick to your shorts as this was too long and filled with a lot of filler. Also, why this was categorized as horror/suspense I don't know. No horror. No suspense. The part I liked was when he tried to kill the one boy and ended up being at a surprise party.

Untapped potential
kingrayx14 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
An entertaining film, which is overshadowed by a mediocre performance by most of the actors in it. If this had been better done and some scenes had been developed in a more daring way, perhaps we would be talking about a film that was at least decent as a whole and perhaps even recommendable. It has certain notable specific scenes, but it ends up getting lost when mixing human drama with the terror it tries to provide... It doesn't end up convincing.

If we go into Spoilers, the whole part of the dead sister drama becomes too dense, with a conclusion that leads to nothing. The theme of the sinister twin brothers does not quite gel and leaves too much to the viewer's interpretation. In the end there are more daring scenes missing and plenty of drama.

New Director has very high potential!
mjperez-113803 December 2021
I'm a very big psychological thriller movie watcher. I see great potential from this new actor, writer, and director. This was Mr. Cusick's first feature film and I appreciated his ability to portray two very different psychologically damaged set of brothers. The story revolves around two brothers who share a dark secret that binds them together and the consequences of the past that will affect both brothers' futures. Mr. Cusick's direction with his actors and abilities to build up emotionally charged scenes impressed me, especially since most new directors are given a very low budget to be able to shoot scenes and make their movie quality scenes look crisp and clear. The only weak part of the movie, in my opinion, was the lead actress. Ms. Linklater's acting and facial expressions lacked on so many levels. I truly look forward to seeing Mr. Cusick's next film. The sky is the limit for this talented young actor, writer, and director.

Solid Indie Film and Unique Concept

Solid Indie Film and very unique concept and great cast. The use if the haunt was phenomenal and I'm glad to see some local Texas areas getting some love. I can't wait for the next film from Mr. Cusick 👍🏻

Solid Indie Film
freednow200315 April 2022
I love this movie. It is an excellent psychological thriller as well as a horror movie, it does both well. I love the differences in the identical twins. Both are walking wounded, but for very different reasons. There is a subtleness under the obvious horror. I will be following Riley Cusick's career, acting both lead characters and directing is impressive.
