Fans Only Have a Few Days To Watch Gerard Butler’s 17% Workplace Drama Before It Vanishes From Streaming
Image
Gerard Butler has become known as one of the most recognizable action stars on the planet, but he’s no one-trick pony. Butler has starred in rom-coms and dramas in his career that see him play characters who are more effective with their words than their fists. One of those films is A Family Man — previously titled The Headhunter’s Calling. Butler stars alongside Spider-Man veterans Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina in the film, which follows a headhunter whose dream of owning the company he works for clashes with the needs of his family. A Family Man is currently streaming on Prime Video, but the streamer has announced that it will leave the platform in four days, with May 23 being the last day it will stream. The film earned scores of 17% from critics and 57% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Bill Dubuque wrote the script for A Family Man, and Mark Williams directed the film.

Liam Neeson Thriller With 83% Rt Score Finds Success On New Streaming Service 1 Year Later
Image
Liam Neeson has had quite an interesting career over the last few decades. Early in his career, he became an Oscar-nominated actor, recognized for his work in the leading role in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. He has also received Golden Globe nominations for Michael Collins and Kinsey. As such, many of his works have been critically acclaimed, including Everest, Widows, Husbands and Wives, Ponyo, and Batman Begins. Thus, Neeson is a well-respected and acclaimed actor of his generation.

However, Neeson's career has also been saturated with action movies that are poorly reviewed, including Blacklight, Taken 3, and Men in Black: International. In addition, many of his films have disappointed at the box office. Despite receiving positive reviews, the pre-covid Ordinary Love made less than $1 million at the worldwide box office. His recent 2024 film Absolution also struggled at the box office, getting just $3.4 million. However, another 2024 movie starring Neeson is...

Liam Neeson's 'Non-Stop' is Global Streaming Hit on Netflix After Being Removed from U.S. Platform
Image
Liam Neeson’s popularity continues to see his older movies pull in impressive audience volumes – even then they have left a platform. The actor’s 2014 action thriller Non-Stop was dropped from the Netflix U.S. platform on January 1, but the movie’s availability around the world has seen it continue to secure a stop on the global Top 10. The airborne thriller is one of several movies of Neeson’s currently dominating the streaming charts, and despite the actor heading closer to retirement from such heavy-duty roles, fans are watching his back catalog…well, non-stop.

Non-Stop sees Neeson playing U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks, a man with personal demons – and a set of skills – who finds himself targeted on board a flight from New York to London. After receiving a text message threatening to kill a passenger every 20 minutes until $150 million is transferred to the terrorist’s bank account, Marks must play a tense,...

Liam Neeson's FBI Operative Flop Finds Success on New Streaming Home
Image
Despite being a legend in the industry, Liam Neeson has had his share of failed projects, one of which is the 2022 action thriller Blacklight. Blacklight currently holds a 12% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus stating, “Turn it off.” Even so, the critical flop appears to have found favor among Netflix subscribers, as it is now the fifth most-watched movie globally on the streamer. This marks its first week on the charts thanks to 13.3 million hours viewed and 7.6 million viewers, most of whom are from Central and South America.

2 Idris Elba Survival Movies Ascend Netflix's Global Top 10 Chart
Image
Two survival movies starring Idris Elba have ascended Netflix's Global Top 10 chart. The English actor began his career in television, rising to prominence for his compelling performances as the ambitious drug kingpin Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire and as the titular brooding detective in the BBC series Luther, the latter earning him four Emmy nominations. Elba has also made notable appearances in other TV shows, including a recurring role as Charles Miner on the NBC sitcom The Office.

Transitioning to film, Elba's career reached new heights with a series of high-profile roles in blockbuster films, including Heimdall in six Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and Bloodsport in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. His versatility was on full display in more blockbuster movies like Prometheus, Pacific Rim, Star Trek Beyond, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, and Sonic the Hedgehog. In recent years, Elba has continued to captivate audiences with survival movies,...

One Of Liam Neeson's Worst Movies Becomes Global Netflix Hit 2 Years Later
Image
One of Liam Neeson's worst movies has become a global Netflix hit two years after its release. Beginning his film career in 1978, the Irish actor broke through with his portrayal of Oskar Schindler in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed Holocaust drama Schindler's List in 1993, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. From there, Neeson took on several roles in blockbuster movies, including Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins, and Aslan in The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy.

However, starting in 2009, Neeson established himself as a prominent action star with roles in the Taken movies, The A-Team, The Grey, Wrath of the Titans, and Cold Pursuit. He's collaborated multiple times with director Jaume Collet-Serra, starring in four of his action films – Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night, and The Commuter. Even as he's expressed interest in retiring from the genre,...

Liam Neeson Revenge Thriller 'Blacklight' is a Streaming Hit on Netflix
Image
Liam Neeson is one of those stars that audiences are drawn to – especially if he is taking down bad guys as a vigilante-style law enforcer. That is probably why 2022 movie Blacklight is now finding success on the Netflix global chart. With Neeson recently claiming that his time making action movies could be coming to an end soon, perhaps fans just feel they need to cram in as many of his previous movies when they show up on streaming.

Netflix is the home of many successful action movies of the past, so Blacklight is just the latest in a long line that have found themselves frequenting the Top 10 on the platform on many occasions. In this movie, Neeson plays Travis Block, a government operative drawn into a conspiracy that threatens his family and his life – surprise, surprise right? As you would expect, the story finds Neeson’s character balancing up his pursuit of justice,...

Liam Neeson's Highest-Rated Movie On Rotten Tomatoes Isn't An Action Thriller
Image
Once upon a time, in the years before 2009 when "Taken" somehow took cinemas by storm, Liam Neeson used to act in all different kinds of movies. Before "Taken" and its many sequels, Neeson starred in movies ranging from the ultra-saccharine Christmas romantic comedy "Love Actually" to genre fare like "The Haunting" remake and "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace." He played Jean Valjean in the 1998 adaptation of "Les Misérables" and brought numerous historical figures to life, including Irish Republican Army founder Michael Collins, 18th-century Scottish highlander Rob Roy, and German industrialist and humanitarian Oskar Schindler.

Unfortunately, since "Taken," Neeson pretty much only stars in action thrillers, like his absolutely abysmal 2022 movie "Blacklight," which is currently the prolific actor's lowest Rotten Tomatoes score. He starred in plenty of great films before that, however, including one of director Steven Spielberg's best movies: the multiple Academy Award-winning "Schindler's List." It should...

Liam Neesons Highest-Rated Movies Confirm He Is Making The Right Decision About His Action Career Future
Image
Liam Neeson is making some major decisions related to his action movie career. Neeson has starred in several popular action movies, such as The Grey, The Commuter, The Marksman, and of course, the Taken movies. However, the actor recently admitted that he is planning to retire from action movies. Neeson acknowledged that he is 72 years old now, and doesn't want to film an action movie if he can't even do most of his stunts. Therefore, Neeson predicted he would retire from action films by the end of 2025.

While Neeson's name has become quite synonymous with the action genre in recent years, he actually did not get his start in action films. It was 2008's Taken that led Neeson further and further into the action genre. Taken grossed $226 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of just $25 million, so it only made sense for Neeson to star in more action movies.

Box Office: Tom Hanks and Robin Wright’s ‘Here’ Fizzles With $5 Million as ‘Venom 3’ Rules Again
Image
“Venom: The Last Dance” topped the box office again as newcomer “Here,” a fantasy drama that uses AI so Tom Hanks and Robin Wright can play younger (and older) versions of themselves, fizzled in its debut.

“Here,” which was produced and financed by Miramax and distributed by Sony, opened in fifth place with $5 million from 2,647 North American theaters. The film, which reunites the “Forrest Gump” co-stars with their director Robert Zemeckis, follows the inhabitants of a single house over the course of 100 years — allowing Hanks and Wright to portray teenagers and octogenarians across 105 minutes thanks to de-aging technology. Critics and audiences rejected the movie with a 36% on Rotten Tomatoes and “B-” grade on CinemaScore. So, word-of-mouth may not help bolster attention for “Here” in its box office run. The movie cost $45 million and needs a long life in theaters to justify that price tag.

Hanks has been a massive big screen draw over the years,...

One of the highlights of Mipcom premiere screenings on Oct. 21, the buzzy international action thriller “Safe Harbor” repped by Eccho Rights, gathered in Cannes its starry creative team: Showrunner and “Ozark” co-creator Mark Williams, actors Colm Meaney Alfie Allen (“Game of Thrones”) and Martijn Lakemeier.

Liam Neeson's Worst Movie, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
There was a time when Liam Neeson played a variety of roles, starring as the titular benevolent industrialist in Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List," for which he earned an Oscar nomination, and as Michael Collins in Neil Jordan's biopic of the Irish revolutionary. But somewhere along the way, the Irishman decided he was going to focus exclusively on playing grizzled badasses in a series of films that, honestly, have all coalesced into the same movie in this writer's head.

It started with "Taken," Neeson's hit 2008 actioner in which he portrayed an ex-CIA officer who is forced to go on a violence-filled quest to recover his kidnapped daughter. The film birthed two sequels, a TV series, and as Witney Seibold noted in /Film's ranking of the "Taken" movies, an entire subgenre: "the Post-'Taken' Liam Neeson-is-a-Violent-Dude subgenre." 2022's "Blacklight" is one example of this highly specific genre, and put simply,...

Liam Neesons Acclaimed Action Thriller The Grey Is Free to Stream
Image
Acclaimed actor and Oscar winner Liam Neeson is now well-renowned for his particular set of skills in the world of action movies. And you can stream one of his best for free, right now. Co-written, produced and directed by Joe Carnahan, The Grey Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, Nonso Anozie, and James Badge Dale alongside Neeson, who leads the pack as a John Ottway, an expert sharpshooter working at a remote Alaskan oil facility. Grieving the loss of his wife, and wondering if life is even worth living, Ottway finds himself stranded with a small group after a plane crash. If that were not already bad enough, a pack of Canadian grey wolves has begun stalking them.

Blacklight Is Liam Neeson's Most Divisive Movie
Image
Quick Links Blacklight Follows a Government Conspiracy Blacklight Is Liam Neeson's Most Divisive Film Should You Watch Blacklight?

Liam Neeson has become best known for having things "taken" from him only to get them back in glorious, violent fashion. Alternatively, many fans think of his role within the Star Wars franchise as Qui-Gon Jinn. Still, this is doing a bit of a disservice to the veteran actor who has amassed over 180 acting credits across various genres.

Liam Neeson has earned a substantial following for his versatility, which has seen him in such serious dramas as Schindler's List with his career-defining performance as Oskar Schindler, to his highly quotable Bryan Mills in the Taken movies. At the same time, Liam Neeson's career in the action genre has led to a pretty mixed reception, with one movie showing this divide more than any other, Blacklight. We will look at the divisive...

“I’m getting Studio Ghibli vibes”: After Harry Potter, Stranger Things Anime Concept Art Has Hayao Miyazaki Fans Riled up
Image
In the world of anime, Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli unarguably holds an incredibly strong presence, having expanded its portfolio among the likes of fan-favorite projects like The Boy and the Heron and Howl’s Moving Castle. That said, what if this respective studio worked on taming animated projects for the Stranger Things and Harry Potter franchises?

Obviously, that sounds like a sweet sight to behold for all those anime fans out there. And, as it turns out, it just might be a pretty cool thing to witness. This comes after a fan account for the studio shared a series of concept art for J. K. Rowling’s tremendously beloved saga, followed by the fan artist sharing her own animated perspective on The Duffer Brothers’ iconic horror saga.

Liam Neeson's Poorly Reviewed Western Movie Finds Second Life On Netflix's US Chart
Image
A Million Ways to Die in the West has become a Netflix streaming hit in the U.S. The Seth MacFarlane movie was the ninth most-watched movie in the region for the week of June 3 through June 9. The success of A Million Ways to Die in the West could help usher in a new era for star Liam Neeson.

The 2014 Liam Neeson Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West has become a streaming hit on Netflix. The movie, which was co-written and directed by Seth MacFarlane, was a disappointment, earning a 33% Rotten Tomatoes score in addition to an $87.2 million box office haul that likely didn't earn it a profit given its $40 million budget (which likely necessitated an $80 million return minimum) and publicity costs. In addition to Neeson and MacFarlane, the A Million Ways to Die in the West cast also includes Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi,...

Interview With Ren Sudo: Japanese Cinema Does Not Think Outside the Box
Image
Ren Sudo is a Japanese actor, director and screenwriter. Since 2017 he has been involved in many projects, ranging from features to TV drama such as “Little Miss Period” or “Kamata Prelude”. In 2022 he directed his first feature “Blacklight”, which also screened at Nippon Connection, just like his second project “Abyss”.

On the occasion of “Abyss” screening at Nippon Connection 2024, we talk with him to talk about the genesis of the project, its characters and about the state of Japanese independent cinema.

Ren Sudo is screening at Nippon Connection

I have to say “Abyss” strikes me as a very romantic story. Do you consider yourself a romantic?

Yes, of course. When I start a new project, I first think about the romantic and erotic scenes. Perhaps that makes me a romantic person.

Since your film portrays both sides of Tokyo, do you prefer Tokyo at night or at daytime?

“Abyss” is some kind of self-portrait because,...

Is This 2022 Thriller Really Liam Neeson's Worst Movie In His 46-Year Acting History?
Image
Neeson's 2022 film, Blacklight, has an 11% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it his worst-rated movie among critics. Despite the low critic score, the audience score for Blacklight is high at 82%, indicating strong viewer interest and positive feedback. While Blacklight is rated poorly by critics, it's not Neeson's worst film. The Other Man (2008) arguably holds that title as one of his lowest-rated movies.

A Liam Neeson thriller from 2022 is considered the worst movie of his illustrious acting career on Rotten Tomatoes. Since making his film debut in the 1978 drama Pilgrim's Progress, Neeson has become one of the most recognizable leading actors on the planet. Neeson's most notable films expand across all genres, including the action thriller Taken (2008), the romantic comedy classic Love, Actually (2003), the first Star Wars prequel movie Star Wars: Episode I -The Phantom Menace (1999), and of course, Steven Speilberg's harrowing Best Picture winner Schindler's List (1993), which earned Neeson his first and only Oscar nomination.

The high rating for "In the Land of Saints and Sinners" proves Neeson is a solid action star, and that he's ready for his upcoming role in "The Naked Gun" reboot.

Liam Neeson has a major remake coming soon, and his most recent movie's critical success on Rotten Tomatoes has perfectly set the stage for it. For years, Liam Neeson has established himself as one of the biggest names in the entire action genre. Neeson has played some deadly action heroes over the course of his career, and they often led to major critical success. However, not all of his action movies have been hits, and his recent movies have especially suffered.

In the Land of Saints and Sinners Review
Image
Plot: In 1974, an aging hitman (Liam Neeson) tries to leave his violent past behind and reinvent himself in a small, isolated town in Ireland. However, his good nature leads to him making a fateful decision that puts him in the crosshairs of an insane Ira assassin (Kerry Condon) and her cronies.

Review: I know what you’re thinking – another Liam Neeson action flick. Ho-hum. Normally, I’d be right there with you. While no one can deny he’s become the 21st century’s version of Charles Bronson, with him churning out a steady diet of B-level action flicks, not all of them are disposable in the way something like Blacklight, Honest Thief, Retribution and too many others are. Once in a while, he works with a really interesting director, such as on the beautifully photographed Marlowe by Neil Jordan. One of his better recent action flicks was definitely The Marksman,...

Liam Neeson’s New Action Thriller Breaks A Rotten Tomatoes Streak That Lasted 4 Years
Image
Liam Neeson's new movie breaks his Rotten Tomatoes streak that consisted of eight straight movies deemed "Rotten." In the Land of Saints and Sinners could become one of Neeson's best action movies, showcasing his impressive status as an action star at 71. Neeson has more action/thriller genre films on the way, as well as a role in the upcoming Naked Gun remake, demonstrating his versatility and willingness to explore new roles.

Liam Neeson's new movie In the Land of Saints and Sinners has broken the actor's eight-movie Rotten Tomatoes streak, which lasted four years. The Northern Irish actor reinvented himself as an action hero when he starred in Pierre Morel's action-thriller Taken in 2008. Since then, the Oscar nominee has appeared in numerous action, crime, and thriller movies, with the most recent being his second collaboration with director Robert Lorenz, the thriller In the Land of Saints and Sinners.

Everything Coming to Hulu and Disney+ in April 2024
Image
If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.

Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

‘Cold Pursuit’ Ending Explained — Does Nels Get His Revenge?
Image
It’s easy to forget that up until a decade ago, Liam Neeson wasn’t exactly known for action films. Neeson was considered to be a rather straightforward dramatic actor ever since his breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic Schindler’s List, but his performance in the action film Taken ended up being the first of many action roles. Neeson has rarely stepped outside the “action revenge thriller” genre in the last decade of his career. His action films tend to run together due to how similar they are; it can be hard to identify how films like The Marksman, Honest Thief, Blacklight, Retribution, and The Commuter are distinct from each other. However, Neeson’s performance in the 2019 action thriller Cold Pursuit ended up being an outlier in his action resume, thanks to its morbid sense of humor and more extreme ultra violence. Many of Neeson’s action films are tongue-in-cheek,...

The Equalizer 3: Why the Action Movie Will Be Better Than John Wick 4
Image
Keanu Reeves's John Wick 4. Liam Neeson's Retribution. Denzel Washington's The Equalizer 3. Action enthusiasts seeking thrilling, unexpected, novel combat scenes combined with exceptional acting are facing an embarrassment of wealth this summer. But who will reign supreme?

Frankly, fans have been somewhat divided on John Wick 4, given the leak of the ending and the reprisal nature of the action sequences. Indeed, John Wick 3 felt more like a video game scene than, at times, a movie – even with the inclusion of Halle Berry. Though John Wick 3 gave a cliffhanger ending that naturally led to a fourth installment, the desire simply hasn't been there.

And the story is similar to Liam Neeson's latest offering, Retribution. The backlash in the action community against Liam's often slash-house movie releases, most notable being Blacklight, has rattled the executives and left them wondering about ticket sales. Rightly so, because Equalizer 3...

Retribution Review
Image
Plot: A businessman (Liam Neeson) is trapped in his car with his two kids by a mysterious caller who warns him that there’s a bomb under his seat that will go off if anyone tries to exit the vehicle.

Review: Remember when Liam Neeson said he was giving up action movies a few years ago? Many think he wasn’t being serious, but watching his latest, Retribution, I’m almost thinking he was telling the truth as there’s so little going on here in the way of physical action that you could almost call this an “inaction” movie. Indeed, Neeson spends 95% of the running time comfortably seated behind the wheel of his car, making this less taxing than the brawnier movies that made him a late-in-life action star.

As usual, Neeson’s latter-era movies are a mixed bag. I was fond of his recent film noir, Marlowe, and...

Box Office: ‘Gran Turismo’ Boosts Opening Day With $5.3 Million From Previews, ‘Barbie’ Challenges for No. 1
Image
The summer box office wind-down is in action as Columbia Pictures’ “Gran Turismo” looks to outrun a slew of holdovers. The racing feature got off to a head start with an $8.5 million opening day from 3,856 screens, a figure that includes a sizable $5.3 million from preview screenings over recent weeks.

In late July, Sony swerved with its release plans for “Gran Turismo,” bumping the formal opening two weeks later than its initial Aug. 11 release date, but organizing several days of special screenings for the film in hopes to build up word-of-mouth. It’s typical for studios to include preview grosses in their opening numbers — after all, “opening day” gross accounts for ticket sales across Thursday and Friday — but “Gran Turismo” certainly has had more runway than the typical wide release. It’s become more commonplace for studios to increase the amount of preview screenings for wide releases in recent years; Paramount...

Shocking Liam Neeson Rotten Tomatoes Stats Show His Action Movie Downfall
Image
Liam Neeson's new action movie Retribution is part of his ongoing streak of poorly reviewed films, with a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Since 2014, Neeson has only had one action movie, Cold Pursuit, receive positive reviews, highlighting the challenge of breaking the Rotten Tomatoes trend. Despite the negative reviews, Neeson's action movies continue to be made because they have a solid track record at the box office and an audience willing to see them.

Liam Neeson's new action movie Retribution continues the actor's horrible review trend on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2023 Liam Neeson action movie follows his character after he learns a stranger put a bomb under his car seat. It leads to a twisted plot for survival as Neeson's character and his two children are trapped in the car. The action thriller movie concept is nothing new for Liam Neeson, as the actor has almost fully transitioned his career to...

Maybe It’s Time for Liam Neeson to Retire From the Action-Movie Game

Liam Neeson has played Jesuit priests, Jedi masters, Greek gods, German industrialists, revolutionary heroes (Irish and Scottish), iconic sexologists, and megalomaniacal supervillains. Make him play one man with a particular set of skills — skills that make him a nightmare for folks who want to harm his loved ones — and the next thing you know, Neeson has to save his family/friends/fellow plane and train passengers every other time he walks out the door. Retribution Review: Liam Neeson Settles Into His Age in Nimrod Antal Thriller
Liam Neeson
Wholly possible that it was a script kicking around since the mid-2000s pitched as “Speed meets Phone Booth” with a few hence-added references to “the dark web” and “crypto accounts,” the new Liam Neeson thriller Retribution likely won’t surprise anyone. It’s at least notable for bearing the return of sturdy journeyman Nimrod Antal to English-language thrillers (Neeson’s go-to director Jaume Collet-Serra serves instead as producer this time), and certainly shows a more competent hand behind the camera than that of the Blacklight variety.

This time we see Neeson as the generically named Matt Turner, an American businessman or hedge fund guy or something of that ilk (his boss played by Matthew Modine calls him “a credit to capitalism”) living in a modernist Berlin house with his family. Though home life is strained in virtually every arena; disconnected from his moody son Zach and phone-addicted daughter Emily...

Box Office Preview: ‘Gran Turismo’ Targets $10 Million Debut, Liam Neeson’s ‘Retribution’ Aims for Single Digits
Image
Sony’s racing drama “Gran Turismo” is driving to a sluggish $10 million to $12 million in its first weekend of release.

The film lands in 3,800 North American theaters on Friday and will compete with last weekend’s champion “Blue Beetle” for second place on domestic charts behind “Barbie.” Greta Gerwig’s box office behemoth is expected to return to the No. 1 spot in its sixth weekend of release, with projections of $12 million to $14 million between Friday and Sunday. So far, “Barbie” has grossed $572 million and is days away from overtaking “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($572 million) as the highest-grossing domestic release of the year.

National Cinema Day, which takes place on Aug. 27, could throw off estimates across the board. That’s because movie tickets on Sunday will cost under $4 — much less than the average ticket price — at participating theaters. More than 3,000 locations, including approximately 30,000 available screens, are expected to take part in the one-day event.

Liam Neeson’s Car Will Explode if He Stops Driving in ‘Retribution’ Trailer
Image
Pop quiz, hot shot: Liam Neeson has to figure out what to do when he discovers a bomb in his vehicle in the first full trailer for the film Retribution.

Director Nimród Antal’s Lionsgate release hits theaters Aug. 25 and is a remake of the 2015 Spanish-language thriller of the same name. The new version centers on Matt Turner (Neeson), who is driving with his kids when he learns from a mysterious caller that the car contains a bomb that will detonate if anyone exits the vehicle, leading to a high-speed chase throughout the city.

“Honey, something’s happened,” Neeson calmly relays in the trailer. “There’s a man who has put a bomb in the car. Under our seats, there are pressure triggers. We can’t get out. The car will explode.”

Later, the star loses his cool when the caller claims to be in control: “No, you’re not!

14 Liam Neeson Action Heroes Ranked By Deadliness
Image
Here are Liam Neeson's 14 action-hero roles ranked by the deadliness of the character he plays. Neeson has starred in a plethora of high-budget thrillers and action movies, carving out a place for himself as one of the premiere action stars of his generation. Neeson remains one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood and has one of the most iconic voices in modern filmmaking. His estimated net worth of around $145 million speaks to his incredible success in Hollywood.

Throughout Neeson's acting career, he has become known for high-octane action thrillers like Taken and The A-Team. He has also displayed his range in other hugely successful movies, such as the iconic 1993 historical drama Schindler's List. Every Liam Neeson Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
Liam Neeson is one of the highest-grossing actors of all time, but how do Liam Neeson movies rank from worst to best? From prestige dramas, to iconic appearances in franchise epics, to his late-career resurgence as an action movie headliner, Neeson has proven himself the definition of versatility. Born in 1952 in Northern Ireland, Neeson began his career in 1976 with the Lyric Players' Theatre in Belfast, before transitioning to supporting roles in films throughout the 1980s. His 1993 breakout in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List kicked off a decade of success as the warm, soulful center to a whole bevy of epic dramas.

He's played a Jedi Master, voiced Aslan, and recently been enjoying a career third act almost entirely comprised of action thrillers, springboarded by his now-iconic turn in Taken. There's no doubt this actor has a "particular set of skills," from the warm, steely timbre of his voice, to the...

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Has Box Office Buzzing With 104 Million Debut
Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd, Kathryn Newton, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, and Jamie Andrew Cutler in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Disney’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” buzzed to 110 million at the domestic box office, beating expectations and scoring by far the biggest opening weekend in the pint-sized Marvel trilogy.

The superhero adventure, starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the titular Ant-Man and the Wasp, is expected to bring in 118 million or 120 million by President’s Day on Monday. The film added 121 million at the international box office, bringing its global tally to 225 million.

Though the threequel landed the worst reviews of the series (and some of the harshest in the entire MCU), “Quantumania” got a huge jump on its predecessors, 2015’s “Ant-Man” with 57 million and 2018’s sequel “Ant-Man and the Wasp” with 76 million. Critical sentiments rarely matter for opening weekends of Marvel movies, but word-of-mouth could have an impact on ticket sales in the coming weeks. In addition to its bleak 49 average on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences saddled the film with a “B” CinemaScore.
