Loved It!!!
yvette-7855223 December 2022
Absolutely loved it!!! Loved the evolution of all of the characters dealing with real life issues. "Adulting" and trying to navigate life and everything that comes along with it....the good, the bad and the ugly. The ups and downs of maintaining relationships and the ability to work through problems, issues, secrets, falling outs and allowing love and true friendship to prevail. I too identified with so much that the characters were dealing with...Real Life, Real Problems. Kudos to Malcolm Lee for writing these characters in such a beautiful way that allowed us to grow up with them. Excellent work by the cast for bringing the story and characters to life and allowing us to close the final chapters of their lives. I am so happy and pleased with the ending of the stories, but I'm holding out hope that this isn't truly the end.

Loved it
melodyccomrie22 December 2022
I loved it! Real life, real problems, real talk. All the things that happen when you grow up and life happens. Everyone has grown up and reached certain pinnacles in their life, but are still searching and reaching for happiness. Very relatable as someone who grew up in this era. Monica Calhoun was definitely missed on this movie. These episodes also touched on issues front and center in many of our lives and touched on how important relationships are to keep, self care and spiritual fulfillment as important in our lives

I am not going to spoil it but I identified w everyone at some point in the movie.

Great series!
eddieaduko24 December 2022
It was a great serious, I identify with every character at some point. Real problems, real storylines. The only thing that kinda ruined it was the producers tryna force the LGBT/pronouns stuff down our throats...also the way Lance initially coped with Mia's passing was a bit...unexpected for a guy who was portrayed as strong, god-fearing and family-man in the last 2 movies.

However, still loved all the characters, it really feels like they're real life friends as their chemistry is amazing. Wonderful acting from all.

From 1999 up until now, it was a great journey. Great way to end the franchise.

Perfect Ending to a Cult Classic
seansoulo7323 December 2022
Been rockin' with the Best Man franchise from day one and although I didn't know what to expect with the switch from film to a TV series, Malcom D. Lee and company pulled it off wonderfully. I'm about the same age as all the cast members, so in '99 I was a single man who had already walked away from an engagement. By the second installation I was married with kids, and now with this latest and final reboot, I'm 20 years in on this marriage journey.

This film captured every facet of black marital excellence, struggle, stress, sickness, tribulation, triumph and loss. Binge watched it from start to finish with my wife today and we could relate on so many levels. Bravo to the entire cast! Ya'll did that! Take a bow.

Final chapters? Need a Prologue
Alwnva15 January 2023
So, every once and a while you get a group of friends that are completely well rounded. To be able to catch up with friends throughout the years is a treat. It's satisfying to celebrate black culture. I do appreciate that the characters have layers and dimension. I know someone like each of these people. Music is an essential part of black culture and they have the soundtrack for this saga just right.

I cannot accept that this is the end. I don't have a favorite character. I don't have a favorite scene or episode or movie. I just love my group of friends. So, I'm gonna say we need a prologue.

Excellence on display
Advocate123 December 2022
This is the kind of excellence I love to see from us! The cast, the chemistry, the final chapters. First, the idea to make it a series is great, instead of one movie, you get three! The storylines are great, full of all the twists and turns you expect from this crew. The first two episodes have a special guest who is a nice addition. The youth in the movie do a great job as well!! The final chapters leave you wanting more, but I believe we will get more. Without giving away the details, there is no way the show is going to end the way it did. I think the network wants to see how good it does, so go watch it. Tell your family, tell your friends, co-workers, church members, get these numbers up because this type of excellence isn't always on display!!

Love, Love, Love it!!
dawntezino23 December 2022
My husband and I have been waiting for this limited series to drop and had it calendared. I am only three episodes in and it is awesome! We are huge fans of this franchise because it mirrors real life exquisitely. The characters embody what it means to be successful black people and navigating friendships from college into older adulthood. The storylines are always on point and great actors of course!! This is definitely a holiday treat!! So sit back and relax and let the show take you on a journey! So excited. Also gorgeous location and set!! Cheers and best wishes for continued success of this newest franchise addition. I know it's supposed to be the final chapters but we can dream that it continues, can't we??

Love it.
arthurturcios13 January 2023
I've watched best man since the first movie. Loved every single moment of the movies to show. This show was timely need. It was put together very well and loved the fact of being able to get more of each of these characters story's. It spoke on all of life's issues from the present and I'm sure will help many understand the many choices life will gives us. When we get knocked down it's alright we will make it thru. Thank you for this series of the best man very much needed and appreciated. Glad they kept all the characters as well. If you haven't watched yet what are you waiting for go watch this series!

Amazing
kgizza200223 December 2022
It's a great addition to the movies and is very well written and of course the acting was superb. Pleasantly surprised! It was great to see the old cast reunited and to see how they have aged over the years. It's funny but the series still deals with very serious and relevant issues. The story reflects on things that has happened between the last movie and the current series. It's not a hacky remake, it's well put together and was made with thought and care. I would highly recommend this series to any body that wants to binge a great series with comedy and heart warming moments. Well done to all involved.

So many plots left dangling
annette70527 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Felt cheated out of seeing Lance develop his new relationship and his wedding. Making Lance have sex with random women was unnecessary and not true to his character as a God fearing man. What happened with Candace's dissertation and the pervy professor? What about Quentin and his father - Did they sell the hotels or keep it in the family? What about his father's health? Did Murch continue fighting after winning that one bout? Way too much airtime was given to LJ. He has nothing to do with the Best Man movies. That was valuable time that could have been given to other storylines that needed closure.

This Was A Creative Continuation of The Best Man Series
leighabc1232 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was creative seeing all the Best Man Characters grow up and mature. All the actors and actresses are excellent. The actresses look fly in this series. The actors were funny! It was nice seeing Monica Calhoun in dream sequences, even though she had cancer and died during the last Best Man movie. I didn't like how they shoved non binary down our throats by making LJ non binary. It would have been better if all the characters lived happily ever after. But in real like, things do not turn out that way. I am looking forward to seeing a new season of this series. Maybe things will turn out better for the characters.

Good story...until the end.
da_poet156828 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched and adored these characters for years and years. Watching them grow up, grow apart, laugh, cry, and elevate themselves and each other has stuck with throughout the years. So, I was a bit disappointed when I found out there was not going to be a third film, but rather, a TV mini-series, chronicling their lives from 2013 until now. Skeptically, I started watching it, and as more cliffhangers arose and more drama ensued, I became more interested. When I got to the last episode, I was left stunned. The ending for many of the characters, especially Harper, was left without true resolve and very little promise of a beneficial future. I guess, for many of the viewers, sides were taken, from the start of the franchise - female fans expressed how they related to the female characters, and the same for the male fans. But somehow throughout the films, we were able to understand more about how to approach and resolve issues with the opposite sex through these characters and their situations. But somehow, that mark was missed in the very last episode. Twenty minutes left in the episode, and there's a huge blowout with the entire gang. Everyone cusses everyone else out, secrets surfaced, sides were taken, ties were cut, and love was lost. And it felt like we were time traveling back twenty years ago to when none of them knew how to portray their true feelings to each other. And as the time ran out of that last episode, I was hoping for an epilogue instead of a gag reel. I have never felt so cheated in a TV show in my life.

Extremely Frustrating and Felt Betrayed
woodb-2444123 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was extremely excited to watch The Best Man: The Final Chapters, and when I did I felt so disappointed and frustrated by what I saw. I think the two movies are phenomenal and the characters in them feel like real people and the actors have phenomenal chemsitry, but I have so many problems with this series. The characters don't even seem like the same people as in the movies. Spoilers Ahead on what I thoguht on each storyline.

Harp and Robyn: In the two movies Harp was a person who made mistakes, but ultimately had a good heart and made the right decision when faced with a life altering decision. In the series he is made out to be a self centered a hole which I feel like doesn't fit with what the movies portrayed him as. Robyn turned from a wannabe chef to an activist, and it comes across heavy handed and forced. Robyn and Harp ended The Best Man Holiday having a child and going into marital bliss, and this series took their relationship in a direction that's only purpose is to create unneeded drama. It feels like as an audiance we went through two movies of Harp and Robyn trying to come into their own and be in a stable relationship, but in this series they decided to tear everything they built down and just get divorced which feels like a slap in the face.

Lance: I think Lance's romantic storyline could have been pursued more, and how he got over the grief of losing Mia but it felt abandoned after the second episode. Instead, most of the season is spent with him and his non binary child fighting over what is best for them. This storyline didn't really feel needed because it didn't affect the overall story of the show, and instead the showrunner was only checking off an item off a list to make the show appear more woke. I think the show should have focused on Lance coming to terms with the grief he is facing over Mia and introducing a new love interest.

Murch and Candace: I think the storyline of Murch trying out MMA was entertaining, but overall not needed and didn't provide anything to the overall storyline. I think the storyline of Candace being interested in plant based medicine was boring and not needed at all. It felt like an annoying side story that didn't provide anything to the overall story. I also felt like the sexual harrassment was ethe showrunner checking off another item on a list to make the show seem more woke. I think the idea of Murch feeling like the punching bag of the group is a good storyline, but it was done in a poor way.

Jordan: Jordan hasn't changed one bit since the first movie which is extremely frustrating because that means through two movies and a series there has been no character development. There was a little bit at the end of The Best Man Holiday, but in this one she turns back into the determined woman who is only concerned about climbing the corporate ladder. I also thought if you are going to have Harp and Robyn get divorced then Jordan and Harp should have ended up together, but that wasn't the case. Jordan should have either been introduced to a good love interest or ended up with Harp.

Shelby and Quentin: This is the stiryline that is done the best in the series in my opinion. I think the first two episodes should have just been a movie and it would have been much more satisfying than going on this pointless journey that only leads to problems. I think Quentin and Shelby should have ended up together and if their story ended after the first two episodes I would have been satisfied, but unfortunately it went on.

I think they should have just made a third movie called The Best Man Wedding with centered on Quentin getting married then Shelby coming in and Quentin realizing that Shelby is the one he wants to marry. I think Harp and Robyn should have got into a little arguement about where to live and end up staying where the wedding was. I think Jordan should have been introduced to a good love interest that could be seen having some longevity with her, and she realizes her happiness is more important than climbing the ladder. I think Murch should have stood up the group about how he feels about being the punching bag in the group and then they all reconcile. I think Lance should have gone their still grieving over Mia then meet the concierge and start to develop feelings that he hasn't felt in a while and being nervous to take a leap of faith but eventually does. I think these storylines would have been more satisfying than what was produced, and it stinks that this is probably the last time we see these characters and they go out on a low note. Overall, I didn't like where each character was taken and how they were portrayed in the show, and at times it felt like the showrunner was checking items of a list to make the show appear woke which ended up feeling heavy handed as a viewer.

EPIC! Best Series of 2021!
soulheavenventures13 January 2023
This was epic, congrats to the team. I was so, so, so, impressed with the beauty of the actors/actresses, the acting, the lines, the outfits, etc., I was blown away. I had one issue with the series which was the LJ plot. While I do understand the diversity and inclusion bit, I just think there has got to be a better way to address that agenda w/o making it part of the storyline. Having said that, I do think it was handled (included) in the best way possible w/o doing the most!

It's hard to portray an overall picture with so many viewpoints (writers, actor/actress, producers, etc.,). But I think you all stepped up to the plate to deliver an epic continuation (not going to say ending) to a great franchise. The series was unapologetically BLACK I mean it felt like I was in the episodes (if that makes sense). Loved the sinister looks/grins, the hard/crushing back and forths (pertaining to the arguments), the authentic looking black love. We definitely need more acting/scripts/etc., like this. I'm HERE for it! Thank you for your time and devotion to entertaining my family and I'm glad everyone was able to come back once again for "ANOTHER ONE"! I'm looking forward to more, what's next?

10 - YEAH, IT'S THAT GOOD!
denise-994452 January 2023
Malcolm Lee has finally given us the cherry atop the sundae with his The Final Chapters. The Best Man: The Final Chapters reunites college friends, Harper, Lance, Quentin, Murch, Candace, Shelby, and Robyn. When we catch up with the upwardly mobile friends, they are coming together to celebrate a wedding: lothario, Quentin is finally getting married to an Icon, Xiomara Amani. Lance is still grieving from the death of his beloved wife and as a result has become quite promiscuous. The group of friends are at the top of their games in their respective careers but experiencing mid-life crises for various reasons, (lack of emotional and career fulfillment, work/family imbalance, getting older, etc.) The series covers a lot of ground in its final chapters. We get a wedding, divorce, sequel movie in a movie, topical issues such as COVID-19, racism, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+ issues, parenting parents while still raising our children and yet Malcolm Lee and the ensemble cast expertly bring it all together. The attractive cast has SO MUCH chemistry that it is a joy to see them onscreen together again. The tropical setting, lush homes, beautiful clothes and with New York as a hometown setting are all a work of art on screen. I absolutely LOVED THIS SERIES. If you were a fan of the first and second movies, then this series is an absolute must see. I binge watched it in one sitting on New Year's Day - and yeah, it's that good!

Great
maiwescm25 December 2022
I love the way they brought us up to date .. it was funny, sad, endearing.. I also love that they were all in it. I know it's the final chapter but I hope they do more. The producer Malcolm Lee did a great job on each episode and I noticed Robert Townsends name in one of the credits. I love how they showed growth in each person although it was a journey. There were parts when I said that is so real for today and I had watched the 2 before again to catch myself back up but it was really not needed as they made sure we saw the main highlights of the prior movies. I really enjoyed Shelby and Quentin.

Better than I expected
sweetlaci27 December 2022
This show is better than I expected. I finished Bestman Holiday and a new one came on. I thought I was watching a movie but turns out it was episode 1 of the final chapters. The writing is so good. Every episode speaks to me. The only thing I felt was overdone was when Murch had those flash forwards of what he'd do to "Karen". Yes I'm black but I thought one was enough. Also wish LJ coming out or being outed was done differently.

But other than that I look forward to reach episode. The cast still seems to be connected after all of these years. I love how now all of the women have put the past behind them and they get along.

I'm sad it's going to end. The writers and the cast are phenomenal.

I'm giving it a 10 because of the legendary cast of course and the classic that is the best man, but something's was a no
tehrijackson5 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Love the cast , legendary of course , still look good , amazing actors, honestly in my opinion the actors of today can't hold a candle to these artists they know their craft very well, but I do agree too much was put on LJ, wasn't feeling his whole storyline, they could've just had him feel like he was pressured to live up to his dads legacy , they ain't have to do allat extra lol, however Lance's activities in the beginning I'm sure was for shock value cause it shocked the HECK outta me lol, glad he came outta that. I would've like to see who Harp gets with next ... Jordan? We'll never know😞 And I do wish they would've used lance's other kids more instead of just LJ , they made it seem like he only had 2 kids at first I get it but, LJ's storyline I could've went without like I said before. I think it was smart for them to have Robin and Harp break up , even in the first movie I just never thought they matched completely sad about the Ghana move though. Legendary nonetheless!!!!!

Get in the mood!
robertson097 June 2023
I am so happy that I subscribed to Peacock, to see the final chapter. I loved the evolution of these characters and how much it can easily mirror real situations that I know. Loved where it was filmed. The different locations made me want to book a vacation ASAP! It is so nice to see the college men and women that these actors portrait, mirror real life. How they learn to balance their careers, their family life, their disappointments, and keeping friendship alive and flourishing! It's funny, heartfelt, and relatable on so many different levels. Great one to binge watch and discuss by the water cooler, the next day at work.

Pretty Good
kkcannady30 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although I love the actors and the franchise, I'm going to be honest with my review. The first two episodes were like a mini movie and very entertaining. Yes we all can tell that the actors have aged and it's more than 2 years have gone by since Best Man Holiday but let's just imagine... If you let go of reality and enjoy, you will be ok.

My favorite character arcs are Q and Shelbie, I was pleasantly surprised and it was well acted. Lance's character arc was ok; not a fan of the transgender character who was a smart butt in episode 7 for no reason. Murch and Candice's storyline was good and believable. The annoying love triangle between Jordan, Harper and Robyn was annoying. Robyn's character arc was surprising and I didn't enjoy it. I think Jordan and Harper's character arc were the least developed and I was disappointed by that.

Nevertheless, I would still recommend it for the culture. My final gripe was the ladies' wigs...they could have been better and have a variety. Shelbie was the only one who changed her hairstyle throughout the series and we know that out of 3 Black women who are wealthy enough to live in NYC over a length of time that is not believable lol.

Meh, missing the magic
kaydrelia27 December 2022
Not sure what happened, but there's chemistry and magic that the first two movies had that this series is missing. There's chemistry missing between the actors, the writing is a mix of being woke and trying to be funny and dramatic and it just doesn't work. The first couple episodes on the island were decent, then it just went downhill. Still love the characters, but they just didn't seem to want to be there in this series, something was way off. Disappointed, I'll stick to the two movies and their magic. Proof yet again that reboots in this new generation just don't work, magic is rarely re-created.

Loved loved loved it
tamicasears26 December 2022
This was a really great way to end the series. For the most part, I really enjoyed the way that each character developed and how their "lives" turned out. I was also really surprised at how easy it was to fall back into the characters. It was like no time passed, it felt like getting connected again with old, dear friends. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Morris Chestnut looks better and better with each of them, yes, I did go back and watch the first two movies.

This was a really good way to spend the holiday weekend and I think that everyone should have a Best Man Marathon weekend.

So this is what menopause and mid-life crisis looks like
Entertainmentsparadise7 January 2023
Ever watch a movie, and you are left thinking about the characters and what happened afterward? What's their day-to-day, and how do they develop? Well, this is it,

Best Man, The Final Chapters is a beautiful creation that brings imagination to life. The critical aspect here is the Black characters we know and love triumphantly reprise their roles with more depth after 23 years.

So if you aren't familiar with the Best Man franchise, it follows a group of 7-8 friends with unique personalities that intertwine well, which leads to a lot of drama. Harper (Taye Digga), an author and "Best Man" to Lance Sullivan (Morris Chestnut), a Football star, displays shady characteristics as he writes a book on the life of him and his friends without their knowledge. The untold secrets are revealed, causing a breach of trust among friends. Some are forgiven for completing the marriage between Lance Sullivan and Mia (Monica Calhoun).

Fast forward 14 years, and a sequel follow the same characters during Christmas. Harper is seeking his next big book while life-altering situations occur. The group comes together in healing and love.

And now we are here

The final chapters start with movie-quality episodes within the first two. Excited to see what our characters have been up two for the last decade; it brings a breath of fresh air.

Quickly the transition to a more standard series model as we spend intimate time with each couple and individual character.

As a viewer, I have seen growth and real-life issues that I don't see often displayed on Black tv as loose but legitimately effective. More specifically, the relationship drama felt real.

Such as mid-life crises, relationship / marital issues, discrimination, children, anxiety, health issues, finding oneself, sexuality, and identity.

The emotions are felt and conveyed relatively well with these heavy topics. What do you expect? Look at the cast!

Now it's not all sunshine. Just like many relationships,

There are a few holes in this series, a bunch of characters introduced to us and taken out without explanation. The series teased for a build-up of what I'd expect something to happen to forget about it. That makes it seem like they recorded the episode over a long time and just pieced it all together, leaving it to feel sloppy and awkward, going away from the purpose of the series and providing answers.

Ultimately, The Best Man Holiday has spark moments, especially for those familiar with the franchise. But it does lack the little things, with some good character development and real-life issues displayed, especially for Black tv; this is a binge-worthy paradise!

Grade: B Character development: B+ (the same characters with the same actions but see how they change within different stages of their lives) Plot: C+; it has some sparks, great themes, just some plot holes) Rating: 4/5 stars.

Did not know I needed this, and then it happened.
sasyscarborough27 December 2022
I have been a fan of the franchise all along, the actors have been superb, the storylines fantastic, and then this! I did not know it was coming, and came across it randomly, and I have binged it all. It is like getting a whole other set of movies but overlapping each other in a way that is not only complete but has me begging for more. I do not care what you come up with, but make this happen again, please.

There are still stories that can be told, dynamics that can be played out, and so much more, I am loving what this series has given us, I am hopeful that there will be a continuation because of adoration, but thank you for the gift it has been, even if it stops here.

Well done and hits all your emotions
jjely-579707 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was so surprised to see this on Peacock but this was done exceptionally well and the cast is amazing. This needs to be a series that never ends. There were so many surprises but I couldn't stop watching. You guys did that and I hope you were paid well.

You hit womanly emotions and challenges that we face in life.

Terrence Howard and Murch were my favorites along with. Shelby of course.

I didn't care for the non binary story line and the divorce but it was all real. There should have been a second season I still feel like I'm left hanging waiting for more. It was well thought out and very interesting.
