Fox Unveils Its Lineup for Fall 2025 Television Season
Image
Fox’s fall schedule is full of surprising twists, as the network chose to heavily lean on unscripted shows, along with making a major change to Monday nights.

Of course there’s a slate of returning favorites sandwiched alongside these new shows, meaning there’ll be plenty excitement to look forward to this coming fall.

Fox Joins Other Networks Like CBS and NBC In Unveiling Its Fall Schedule

On Monday, May 12, Fox released the schedule for its fall TV season – a day before its upfront presentation. This made Fox the third network to release their fall schedule, behind only other network giants like CBS and NBC.

Monday nights had been previously dedicated to beloved dramas ‘House’ and ‘9-1-1,’ but the network had probably decided to pivot, approving two unscripted series to take their slots instead.

They then opted to pair two of their live-action scripted programming shows – ‘Doc’ and ‘Murder in a Small Town...

Fox Doubles Down on Animation With 3 More Major TV Series Renewals
Image
Fox will be the place to go for animated comedies on broadcast television. After recently giving several animated shows big renewals, three more have been confirmed.

Per Deadline, Fox has just renewed the following animated shows: Krapopolis, Grimsburg, and Universal Basic Guys. The news follows the network recently giving four-season renewals of the long-running animated shows The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, and American Dad!. In the case of American Dad!, the series also is making its return to Fox after making the move from TBS, though it originally aired its first nine seasons on Fox.

Krapopolis is currently in its second season, which is concluding this month. The show, created by Dan Harmon, imagines a more zany version of ancient Greek lore where humans interact with gods and mythical creatures. It had previously been renewed through Season 4, and the new renewal by Fox will guarantee a fifth season of the show.

Fox Renews ‘Universal Basic Guys,’ ‘Grimsburg’ and ‘Krapopolis’
Image
Fox has greenlit more seasons of three of its adult animated series: “Universal Basic Guys,” “Grimsburg,” and “Krapopolis.”

“Grimsburg” and “Universal Basic Guys” are both returning for Season 3, while “Krapopolis” has been renewed for Season 5.

“Krapopolis,” which has received a Season 5 order ahead of Season 3, “is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters trying to run one of the world’s first cities, while also trying their best to not kill each other in the process. The series centers on Deliria (Hannah Waddingham), goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. As petty as she is powerful, Deliria is only interested in defending civilization if it means she’ll get more worshipers out of it than her frenemies up on Mt. Olympus,” according to the official description.

Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell also star.

Fox is further solidifying its animation lineup, handing out renewals to Krapopolis, Grimsburg and Universal Basic Guys.

Rescue Hi-Surf Can’t Beat This Wave: Fox Drama Canceled After One Season
Image
We’ve been shocked by sudden cancellations this season, but Fox may have just taken the cake.

According to Deadline, Rescue Hi-Surf has been canceled after its freshman season.

While the decision comes as a shock given that its numbers were pretty respectable for a show on the network, it seems the decision was more about money than anything else.

(Zach Dugan/Fox)

In recent years, new shows have featured one or two A-list leads as the draws, but it seems Fox wanted to get Rescue Hi-Surf off the ground, err, shore, within a strict budget.

When all was said and done, Rescue Hi-Surf Season 1 averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.22 rating among adults 18-49.

‘Rescue: Hi-Surf’ Canceled at Fox After One Season
Image
Fox has canceled its tropical drama “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” TheWrap has learned. The series will not be returning after airing one season on the broadcaster.

The drama was originally supposed to go to HBO Max before it was picked up by Fox for a fall 2024 air date. Season 1 concluded in late March of this year. Created by Matt Kester, the action-drama followed a team of lifeguards in the North Shore of O’ahu, Hawaii, which is known as the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Arielle Kebbel led the cast alongside Adam Demos, Robbie Magasiva, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono and Zoe Cipres.

In addition to creating the series, Kester served as an executive producer alongside co-showrunners John Wells and Daniel Nathanson. Erin Jontow also executive produced for John Wells Productions. “Rescue: Hi-Surf” was a co-production between Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment Studios.

Network Scripted TV Scorecard 2025: What’s Renewed, Canceled and Still in Limbo
Image
After a rough few years in the broadcast landscape, the 2024-25 season has brought in some rays of hope.

To be sure, the long-term structural challenges for network TV remain in a world where streaming is the default platform for the largest share of viewers and ongoing corporate consolidation continues to shrink the number of potential suppliers (and buyers) of shows. But several network shows have achieved breakout status in the past year, and each of the big four broadcasters (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) can claim at least one success story among their crop of first-year series. The fact that networks are also the primary suppliers of the long-running, deep-library shows that keep streaming services humming also seems to have sunk in across the industry.

About that corporate consolidation: The past year has continued the trend of media company reorganization. Both Paramount and Disney closed studios (Paramount TV Studios...

All the Fox shows renewed so far in April 2025
Image
With the 2024-2025 TV season almost over, there are many cancellation and renewal decisions coming. Fox still has a lot of shows on the line, but there have been some good decisions so far. While not many Fox shows have been renewed yet, we get to look forward to some.

On top of that, there are a few shows that we just know are likely to be renewed. We’ll take a look at them in this post. Just keep in mind that this is only about scripted shows, including animated comedy. The unscripted shows are a different beast.

All the renewed Fox shows so far

As of April 2025, there are only four renewed shows on Fox so far. The one that you may have overlooked is Krapopolis, which was renewed for a third season back in March 2023, ahead of the series even landing on our screens ever! On top of that,...

Fox Renewal Status Report: ‘Animal Control,’ ‘Alert’, ‘Rescue: Hi-Surf’, ‘Accused’, ‘Cleaning Lady’, ‘Going Dutch’ & Animation
Image
Fox veterans The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers have never really been on the bubble because first, they remain strong performers for the network, and secondly, due to the longer lead time needed in animation, they would always get an early renewal. That was taken to a new level this year as all three, along with American Dad!, returning to Fox after an 11-year run on TBS, have just been given four-year pickups, keeping the 20th TV Animation-produced comedies off the bubble list for the foreseeable future.

Also safe are the two Fox-owned animated comedies, Krapopolis and Grimsburg, which are not as strong in the ratings as the three long-timers but still bring eyeballs while also making money for the network via international and streaming sales. Krapopolis, now in its second season, already has been renewed for a fourth season. Grimsburg, also in its second season, is expected to be renewed for a third,...

Fox has reclaimed a former series and renewed it for 4 seasons
Image
A major Fox show is returning to the network and in multiple seasons! This is surprising news.

Fox’s “Animation Domination” has been a key part of their lineup for decades. It began with The Simpsons, which set the tone for every adult animation show since 1990. That included the long-running Family Guy, which began in 1999.

Fans are used to these shows being renewed on a season-by-season basis. But per TVLine, Fox is making a stunning move as it not only brings back the animated show American Dad! but it, along with The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy, are all renewed for a whopping four seasons each!

American Dad! renewed for multiple seasons

Each season of American Dad! will comprise of 15 episodes. For those counting, this deal will take The Simpsons through to season 40, Bob’s Burgers through to season 19, Family Guy through to season 27, and American Dad! through to season...

'The Simpsons,' 'Family Guy,' and More Get a Huge Yet Unsurprising Renewal Update
Image
Fox is reuniting its Animation Domination lineup and locking them down for years to come. The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob's Burgers have all been given huge, if not particularly surprising, four-season renewals at the network while also being joined by a former staple of the Sunday night block, American Dad, following the end of its run at TBS. It has also been ordered for four more seasons. With an unprecedented 16 total seasons ordered at once from Fox, the network has ensured plenty of consistency for broadcast animation fans, keeping the shows together through the 2029 season.

Such a sizable renewal has assured some history for the 20th Television Animation-produced shows. The Simpsons is now guaranteed to reach its landmark 40th season, attaining heights that few shows have ever even approached and padding the yellow-skinned family's lead as the longest-running animated comedy in history. Its fellow Animation Domination cornerstones aren't slacking either,...

The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy & American Dad Land Massive Multi-Season Renewals at Fox
Image
Fox is keeping its animation lineup intact for four more years. The network has handed out massive four-season renewals to long-running animated series The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad.

Per Variety, the renewals will take Bob’s Burgers to Season 19, Family Guy to Season 27, American Dad to Season 23, and The Simpsons to a record-setting Season 40. "This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at Fox is truly monumental for these iconic animated series,” said 20th Television Animation head Marci Proietto in a statement. "We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob’s Burgers for years to come."

American Dad Returns to Fox After 11 Years

The renewal announcement also confirms a late March report stating that American Dad would be returning to Fox for its next season.
