Started as good, Ended as bad
gulay-8119820 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The best thing in this series is good acting but it is also ruined by long staring scenes, the plot is getting annoying when you come closer to the end.

Also it was so long than it should be, there is so much scenes that don't add plot anything and just a filler to take time.

They symbolize Nalan as a pure, innocent princess while she cheats on her husband and kept in touch with Hayri even when she found out about he is married and tricked her. And if this is a true story, I don't think that real woman would feel good about this series making her seem like a gullible woman

I gave this all 7 points to the actors, especially Burcu Biricik, for their good acting despite this traumatic show.

It started well
izvorualb2 January 2022
This girls is not a hero, she is a door mat! I am tired to see her crying and crying and willingly submitting to an abusive grand mother. It is not real life! Too many lies and too many stupid people. The only smart ones are the bad oes and they are winning in every episode, this is boring.

Excellent series
tempresident4 June 2021
Storyline is a bit hard to watch. Child abuse in both families with people (supposedly caring) just standing by allowing it to happen. Story draws one in and you wish Nalan to get angry just a little. She seriously needs help breaking free from everyone abusing & manipulating her. The affect the abuse of her grandmother has had on Nalan reverberates throughout her adult life, so much so that she cannot see who else is having the same affect on her. She later becomes a pathetic person, clinging to her abuser, who she gave up everything for. Or maybe it's the realisation that she has given up everything for someone who was not worthy at all.

This series, loosely based on true events, is actually very good. Portraying the affect abuse has on a person, and how difficult it is to break free and see things for what they really are. I shouldn't give bad ratings because I 'm so frustrated and angry with the characters. All the actors are excellent.

People you once loved, you later hate and vice versa. You want to stop watching but you just can't. One hopes that there will be a happy ending for Nalan...with healing in the end.

Happening in real life is very remote
breezegarcia23 December 2022
This series is supposed to be based on a novel that is based in real life story but the depiction in the series has gone to the extreme.

The probability that all the scenes in this series happening in real life is very slim.

Too unbelievable for grown up adults to be treated as little kids.

Too unbelievable for grown ups to be watched my parents or grand parents in all their daily steps and actions.

Too unbelievable for a grand parent to be listening all the time with her ear on the door of a married couple to make sure they are love-making, and getting inside their room almost all the time to zero privacy.

Too unbelievable that the old lady is forcefully commanding everyone around her even those unrelated to her. What is she? That powerful? One hand blow and she'll die.

This series has too much immorality and impossibilities.

The family are trying to portray a clean reputation but in reality there are too much corruption, dishonesty, perversion and indecency.

Up to episode 58, it's ok, not good but ok. Past that, it's repetitive and unbearable to watch.

It's like Addams Family on drama.

Great series
mhananader23 October 2021
From the beginning of the series you are directly attached to the psychopathic characters of Nylan mother, Jana. But surer ( Faride) is great actress. Worth watching dark drama.

unbelievably childlike imagination of the writer and director
dophiea24 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This story is the fruit of the imagination of an emotionally unstable writer and director. Apparently, some male Turkish directors mentally have problems with the sexuality of women and their virginity. And since money is the only motivation to make these poor-quality series, the writers and directors try to satisfy their own sick imaginations in the process. That is why their scripts are full of stories about below the belt of women and underage girls. This is shown in other Turkish series, like Orphan Flowers, Fatma Gahol, and the like. The confused writers and directors of these types of stories care nothing about the quality of their work. They create this nonsense to satisfy their own sick imagination and also please their male viewers in third-world countries that these things on a smaller scale happen all the time. Sadly in this series, there is also no sign of the brilliant acting that is usually the signature marking of their artists.

A series in very slow development
juneb-208982 January 2023
And just like that, the old witch got vindicated without excitement! What kind of retribution is that? I was expecting a drastic, momentous, applaudable consequence to her evilness, but no! The writers gave the selfish wicked woman an honorable escape.

After waiting for a long long long time for the punishment to arrive, my long wait is just a huge disappointment.

I like the story itself but it kind of pulled me into watching it. It's different although very slow.

An abusive old woman, a grown up daughter the subject of the old woman's harrowing, her stupid husband whose erotic fantasies is satisfied by an older woman.

Every character in this series is hiding a secret from each other while all of them are hiding in unison a secret to the female lead character.

Acting is good, it's just that the aim of the writer is unclear. Audience deserve to see the bad characters in this series to get that long-awaited retribution, something that I will applaud. It doesn't seem to come. I'm disappointed.

This is not a bad series
mcc-0844525 October 2021
Script:4 Directing: 3 Acting: 6 Question: if Rafet and his family are multi- billionaires why does their house look like a bombed 2nd world war building (outside). Any explanation?

After a while it got unnecessarily long and boring. Poor writing and directing.

Rating for plot
joycefielder18 November 2021
Although a lot of the creativity of the images could use some value-add, I give high rating for the storyline and for the acting. The psychologist contributes a great aspect to this dark drama. Especially characters of Selena and Feride are excellent, Oscar worthy (or Turkish equivalent).

Please stop?
olcare9 March 2023
I came across a TV series today and decided to check its IMDB page. I had watched it a couple of times before and was surprised when I read the reviews. I can't believe anyone would call this cheap thing excellent.

The acting and storyline are both terrible. They tell stories about silly and convoluted schemes and intrigues, and they do it so poorly that it's frustrating to watch. I don't understand why some people put this on TV. Maybe their goal is to torture the actors.

Let me examine it a bit. First of all, the acting disappears due to the long staring scenes and the horrible script, especially Burcu Biricik's performance is overshadowed. Technical details are terrible, camera angles, lighting, and color correction are all below this budget. Anyone who pays a little attention will agree with me. It's also a disaster that it lasts for 65 episodes. Breaking Bad is told in 7-8 episodes, and they've told it in 65 episodes, with a screen time of 2 hours and 30 minutes (unbelievable).

I hope someone sees this, and we can overcome this mediocrity.

TV series in slow-mo
kristinepametlan30 December 2022
I'm still watching it just waiting for the witch grandmother to - I don't know whatever should happen to her.

Burcu is a good actress, seen her in Kuzgun and Hayat Sarkisi, she's brilliant. Impeccable acting in this series too, it's just that the story has gone too heavy, too hard to watch and perhaps a small percentage of the real thing that happened in real life or the real story itself. Scenes and execution of her sufferings in the hands of all the people around her is just too much to bear for a grown up woman. I don't understand that an adult woman gets to be watched and commanded and manipulated by her grandmother all the time, specially the wearing of chastity corset, what is that? You'd rather have her developed a life-threatening urinary or intestinal disease rather than lose her chastity?

The story is too slow like you're watching a tv series in slow motion.

3 star for acting, production design and camera works.

BURCU BIRICIK IS BRILLIANT!
bryonybedford11 November 2021
Absolutely amazing story, lovable characters and some you HATE like Cana who is the SHE-DEVIL!

Burcu Biricik absolutely shines as beautiful, innocent, kind, and naive Nalan who opens her eyes and sees that her husband, Sedat, for he TRULY is, a weak and pathetic man.

Worst ending ever!
loriewilliams-841194 August 2023
This was the first Turkish drama I've watched. It wasn't great, but somehow I got hooked into it. I got sucked into this telenovella and stayed with it to see what would happen. After three seasons, I finally thought it would have a good ending to all those hours I spent watching the characters and the plot. Well, whoever wrote the last few episodes ruined the whole thing. After watching 80+ episodes it ended in the worst way ever. The last few episodes didn't make any sense at all and it was such a disappointing ending. I can't believe this is how they ended such a long-running drama. Save your time.

Stupid!
vidanour21 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I know it is based on a true story but as far as I go, Nalan is a big liar! I can't imagine how she could be the princess of the story? I hope it ends well because as far as I see, Nalan is the worst character in the story.

On the other hand, we have an impolite, crazy man called Hayri! How people can accept him as a lover? He is completely insane and dangerous. But everyone says he is only a lover! Are they improving craziness in this story? It means everyone can get drunk and go inside a girl's house and fight with her husband?

I think there is something wrong with the story, I only hope it ends well!

If you have the patience, this series will simply suck you in....
geeakyol3 June 2022
This is one of the best of the best that I have watched among Turkish dramas.

It starts off (and continues) to be a bit slow. However, this is actually instrumental in captivating the watcher and making him/her almost become part of the show itself... as if you are living with them and among them.

The acting is absolutely top notch. Almost every single character is worth an Oscar, maybe even two.

The story may sometimes get to be a little bit unbelievable but if you can accept some degree of fiction, you will be hooked, just like I have been and still am.

I almost forgot... The music is also absolutely fantastic, haunting at times.

Excellent viewing
maustic21 January 2022
I stream numerous Turkish Series via internet/Turkish website offering subtitles a number of them are not worth watching but this series is so enjoyable for it's dark underbelly, sociopath characters all circling around the patient so accomplished sweet natured Nalan whose ideal husband Sedat is not worth a fleeting glance which she is slowly realising.

Burcu Biricik is brilliant as she is in everything I have seen with her performing. One of the best Turkish actresses.

To answer query below the reason the wealthy father doesn't paint the house is obvious he also has the butler count out the olives and cheese for all for breakfast he is a Scrooge!

My mantra is to loose at all series made/produced by Onur Gavanatman (excuse spelling) cannot go wrong.

Realistic and good series. Warning: Spoilers
This series is good, I just love it, because of the acting, all actors live in their roles. I just start a second season, but I don't understand why this series rating is 5,6, no he deserves 8, but doesn't a 5,6, because series by Gulseren Budayicioglu and by novel Camdaki kiz. So series is about a beautiful and a naive Nalan, who was grewing with many rules, and can't have a kiss until wedding and she can't have a boyfriend and she was wearing corset. Sedat, who haves childhood traumas, like Nalan. But he loves Cana by the way Cana has a husband and children, and his family wants that Sedat marry Nalan, because Sedat sister talks to her in the lift and will like her and by the way her father was working for him. So I recommend to watch Camdaki kiz. But the first scenes were boring, but nevermind.

A Unique Story
vaniaradonjic30 October 2023
I love Turkish series. This is one of the best, although hard to watch. You can learn a lot about people, their souls and dark sides. Cast is great, music is fantastic. I only have the impression that many series are ended according to the expectation of majority of audience, which a bit ruined more realistic ending. I am not convinced that people change so easily (Sedat). What Harry did for Nalan is PRICELESS. I could even understand his cheating on Nalan. He needed confirmation and popularity, but I am absolutely sure he loved and will always Nalan, he only succumbed to a fleeting emotion. Love story between Nalan and Harry is so crammed with emotions, you can feel the love so intensely. Feride, who is personification of utmost evil, unfortunately has accomplices even if they are involuntary. Is it possible that child abuse is tolerated and unseen to such extent for so many years???Also arrogancy and confidence given by money is well-described. A great array of characters. Overall-this is not a superficial story, but one which leaves you with many questions on human nature.

Best show ever !!!

Warning: Spoilers
This show is honestly my favourite turkish drama so far. The first few episodes you think to yourself what am I watching the torture the grandma does to Nalan its crazy BUT when you start getting into more episodes there's alot of back stories and it makes you want to watch more.

The actor who plays Nalan WOW she is amazing, they really picked there characters well. I really hope they continue the series because there is alot of back stories to it.

I do hope Hayri and Nalan end up together.

I don't partically like Sedat's character in the show his role played is very weak and makes him look like a child (Spoilt) I do hope they strengthen his character and make him useful for the show... but I guess we will have to wait and see what happen's next..
