Like you'd not know your own child after 6 short years?! Absurd premise but hey it's Lifetime. I'd definitely know mine. Not finished but the name's a spoiler lol.

Better than most made for TV

This movie held my interest all the way through, and while not Oscar material, does present a tense tight story that is believable. Script is good. Director is very good. Acting very good, except perhaps the mother...who has her hair perfectly fixed in every scene, and smiles just a little too much.

Liked the story and the love between them. But weird that she didn't recognize she wasn't her daughter before. And could been better filming. But good movie tho.

So dumb and bad
deedrala17 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So many unrealistic things:

A mother not being able to tell right away that the girl was not her daughter - especially since the two girls looked nothing alike at the end

The police not having a blood test done to be sure the girl was their daughter before turning her over to them

The mother not calling the police upon finding out the girl was not her daughter

The mother not calling the police before walking into a kidnapper's house - he could've been a maniac lunatic monster but she blthely goes in with no weapon of any kind, with one of his victims

The kidnapped girls choosing to stay with the kidnapper when they could have left with the mother when she found them and told them to come with her

People walking and sitting outside in the freezing cold and blowing snow

And there were a few times when I couldn't understand the dialogue - they either talked too fast or didn't make sense. And I couldn't believe the mother didn't think to give her daughter Olivia her coat when she found her - she made her stand and walk in the freezing weather with snow on the ground in the thin little nightgown she was wearing! What a massive oversight by the entire crew AND the actress playing the mother.....wow.

As a side note: why was Natalie's hair SO thin and stringy throughout the movie and then suddenly thicker with body at the end (a year later)?

Too slow and draggy most of the time, with all the excitement happening at very end.

Grade D / 2 out of 10.

Confused

Warning: Spoilers
How can parents NOT know this isn't their child?! I get 6 years have passed but come on! I think a parent would know their own child. And what about a blood test? Did they do that? I guess not.

Garbage

Warning: Spoilers
Another one of those films where people do things that they would never do in every day life. What mother doesn't know her own child, and what person doesn't ring the police when they find out the girl that's pretending to their daughter, isn't. Pathetic film. Not worth the positive reviews it's received.

Not-So-Sinister Switch
cahidi2 August 2022
It's kinda boring for the first hour. But nearing the end of the movie it got a little exciting and thrilling. The horror set in. And although it's rather predictable, but the plot twist is not that bad. I'm not sure how to rate this movie. And I don't wanna be mean, cause it's not a terrible one. So I just give it a 6.

Amateur movie
kigszjc8 December 2021
This movie lacked creativity, and the acting was way below an average movie. It lacked proper direction and authenticity of actors. The acting was showing, lack of proper emotions and all. It was very boring.

Good plot
Deavergent12 December 2021
Overall, this movie was well written and the acting was.. okay. But it definitely felt like a low-budget film, what with all the weird transitions between scenes and stuff. Enjoyed it though.

Meh... it was OK
Chartreuse128 November 2021
This plot has been used by Lifetime a few times before so nothing original. Justin and Kristen are reunited with their daughter, Olivia after an abduction 6 years ago. But is she really their daughter or an impostor? This was a very uneven movie and the acting was OK. Worth one watch.

Really Good Movie
jmas23828 November 2021
I really was surprised how well this movie turned out, and how much I enjoyed it. Will it get any awards? No, but very entertaining, and had my total attention the entire time. Definitely worth the watch.

Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, I don't really like the abduction-themed movies, so that I watched this was a surprise. Secondly, I'm not sure how this movie happens if they'd just gotten a DNA test when Olivia came back, but they went w/o one. Justin, Olivia's father and Kristen's ex-hubs or estranged hubs, is a doctor or something and works in a hospital (he's in scrubs in his first scene in the present)....how would he not think to get a DNA test?

Sure if they did a blood/DNA test, they would have discovered who this girl was and there would have been no movie, but it was such an obvious thing to not include. Would a hospital and law enforcement really not confirm her identity? Especially given that there were several other missing girls? Press X for doubt. It makes no sense.

Not to mention, I would say except for maybe losing the baby fat or gaining some weight, maybe hair darkening, by the age Olivia went missing, her features should have been set. HOW do they not question their "daughter's" appearance? How is the best friend the first to acknowlege. To be fair, traumatized parents might want it to be their child, but it's a stretch. The wrong bedroom thing wasn't a huge red flag for me, so I didn't mind it.

A few "character development" things I did like were "Olivia" asking where Justin was when he wasn't at the house. It makes sense to me that their kid would notice her father not being home. I also liked Kristen explaining to "Olivia" the reason why her bedroom was packed up. Same for Justin grabbing "O" to keep her from eating shrimp which she's allergic to, "O" running off, and then her parents apologizing. These felt like "human" moments in a Lifetime movie, which is rare.

I also find it absurd that Olivia/Natalie escapes (for good reason) but then doesn't warn Kristen about where she's taking her. She doesn't seem to have Stockholm Syndrome or seem protective of her captor necessarily, so why not tell her where they were going? Especially if it's a chance to help the other girls. That was really bizarre.

I like the winter movies, but it's a little over the top here. I'm assuming this movie is filmed in Alberta or somewhere like that, so it is what it is I guess. It is kind of weird to see them with open coats, no hats or scarves just letting the snow fall on them lol. I also liked the house even though we didn't see much of it.

The ending was fine. Climax wasn't super dramatic which was fine. But did they even try to find Natalie's real parents???

It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. You have to accept the premise of no dna test and parents not knowing their own kid to sit through this.

It looked like it was filmed at the North Pole...?

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty interesting story with a very happy ending!

The characters were pretty well fleshed out, and the character of the kidnapper was very creepy.

The only complaint I have is the excessively snowy scenery - - with the characters driving through it all. (Also, I live in Chicago and we are entering winter.)

7/10.

Avoid!
martykka-0317224 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Oh my I've seen some turkeys in my time but this movie!!!! I've seen better infant school plays... the acting is awful so many awkward silences between the husband and wife it never flowed it was like they were reading directly or a script... no twists no surprises just droll paint by numbers bore fest .... So many mistakes and irritations ... why didn't the mother take of her high heeled shoes in her own home running around her house on polished wooden floors in those stilettos and then sitting by the fire with a wine in those shoes ... come on! Another unknown irritation why the main character had very thin stringy hair all the way through then at the end albeit a year later had thick bouncy hair ??? Facts wise why on earth would the parents not know their own child 6 years isn't that long you'd recognise your own flesh and blood ... why wasn't a simple dna and blood test done ??? Why did the mum go into the kidnappers dwelling with no weapons totally unarmed without telling the police ??? The list goes on but the acting from the parents and kidnapper was just diabolical honestly it was a struggle that's 90mins il never her back ... z movie at best low budget just dismal .

Terrible acting
mekid-3318322 August 2023
Acting is high school level, the daughter looks older than the mother, typical Z movie with nonsensical plot and more plot holes than Swiss cheese.... The worst acting is from the mother, this is so bad

I enjoyed it.
markstefano-881012 December 2021
Worth a look, well acted, photographed and staged ( in the North Pole judging by the weather lol) A couple are so happy to have their daughter back after she disappeared six years earlier. But is she who she seems?

Interesting storyline.
HeroDT1219 December 2021
The film is quite enjoyable. The story presented is good, gives tension and anxiety in some scenes, makes guessing the next story line, about who and why. And ended satisfactorily for me.
