James Craddock • Gentleman Ghost
- James Craddock: I need just one more soul to complete our task. But now, I have some costumed freak chasing after me. He even knows my name. Plus, Holmes and another demon.
- Asteroth: I sensed the rhymer's presence in Whitechapel. I know him well. Tread carefully, for you are not immortal yet.
- James Craddock: [kneeling] Yes, Asteroth.
- Batman: Craddock, he's going to betray you!
- Asteroth: Give me the horn, human.
- James Craddock: First, complete your end of the bargain. Make me immortal.
- Asteroth: Very well.
- Asteroth: [Casting his spell on Craddock] Your soul shall never pass from the Earth.
- James Craddock: I feel invincible.
- Etrigan: You're a foolish man to take that deal. A demon's promise is never real.
- James Craddock: Before I turn you to dust, I simply must know, stranger. How did you recognize me?
- Batman: Because in my time, you're a ghost.
- James Craddock: [firing an energy blast from his cane] Lies!
- Batman: Craddock? The Gentleman Ghost?
- James Craddock: Gentleman Jim Craddock, you are indeed correct, sir. But a ghost? There's only one of those here, and that's you.
- Sherlock Holmes: What use have you for human souls?
- James Craddock: I need them because, unlike you, I have no intention of dying. Ever.
- Batman: [seeing him drain Holmes' soul] Craddock, no! I know how this is going to end. Don't do it.
- James Craddock: When I return from the underworld, I shall be immortal. And then I'll deal with you personally.
- James Craddock: Two on one hardly seems fair.
- [he throws a large golden ring, which summons an ogre]
- Batman: [to Etrigan] Friend of yours?
- Jason Blood: And what of Craddock?
- Dr. Watson: I daresay he won't be causing any more trouble for humanity. The jury will make sure of that.
- Gentleman Ghost: [rising from his grave] No matter how many centuries I have to wait to face you, Batman... I will find you again, and I will have my revenge!
- James Craddock: Come out of that frightful rain, my dear, or you'll catch your death of cold.
- Woman: Much obliged, sir. It's not often a lady finds such a gentleman here in the slums.
