Weak..
bchisenhall-7371714 October 2022
Notice how the 8 and over star reviewers have only reviewed 1 movie? It's because they worked on this movie or know someone who did. The lighting is horrible, the acting is weak, it's not original. The only thing original about this is that it's an all black cast. If you're looking for a dumb movie to watch, because you have nothing else to watch, just watch nothing. It would be better than this trash. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because people actually took time out of their lives to make this movie. I cant knock the hustle, but I'm knocking the outcome. I was cringing from the very beginning. Trying way too hard to be "hip" and "original" when it's far from it. Take my advice and watch Zombeavers instead.

666 night
nogodnomasters26 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The production opens with Tony Todd giving us a brief history of black horror. He then explains that B**** A** is the first masked serial killer. The film opens in 1999. We see a killing. The film cuts to the daytime as Spade (Sheaun McKinney) of the 6th street gang instruction 4 recruits to break into the house of B**** A** (Tunde Laleye) and rob him as his grandma had a lot of money. Little do they know he is now a masked killer. Inside the house on 666 night, the kids get caught one by one and are forced to play a game for their life. Needless to say, things not do go too well. The story centers on Q Gadsen (Teon Kelley) so we know who the final guy will be.

Our killer had bulk but lacked imagination and personality. Acting and dialogue less than par. Not much of a slasher or horror.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Decent Horror Film
billcr1215 October 2022
Three young guys and a young woman are attempting to join a local gang and for their initiation they must break into a house and rob a stash of cash for the gang leader.

One of them, Q, is a good kid with a mother with high expectations for him.

Against her wishws, he joins up witht he group to earn their respect and make some much needed cash in the process.

Of course, the plan goes from bad to worse as Badass, the title character has other ideas and, one by one, will amke the intruders play a series of games against him fr their very lives.

The cast, especially Q's mother, are all very good and some laughs are provided along the way.

Tony Todd does the intro in the style of the Crypt Keeper from the old HBO series from the eighties.

Bitch Ass is a short and passable diversion.

Ambition Can Only Go So Far
lexical-6225310 November 2022
I went into this movie with an open mind to a lower budget movie with a unique story and an intriguing new lead killer entering into the horror slasher genre, and went out of it confused how it dropped the ball. I wasn't expecting powerful acting or writing, but I also wasn't expecting seemingly rushed performances and cliche after cliche that fell flat and felt like it was written by people with nothing in common with the characters. The best actor was surprisingly A-F-R-O, who looked like a veteran amongst rookies, and has a bright future as an actor, while the rest of the ensemble seemed inexperienced and out of place. The gang initiation premise seemed forced and out of place as there are plenty of ways to place 4 friends in the house. Bitch Ass himself had promise, but the voice, the mask and outfit were all a miss as he wasn't scary or creepy, just awkward and nerdy. The games weren't compelling or exciting, and I didn't need the edge of my seat at any point. I was also confused by the flashback scenes as there was nothing but costume changes involved with them, nothing was added to them to create a mood or feelings. This movie is right on the border of being really bad and cult classic bad.

Not that bad
DarkKnight555 October 2023
A lot of negative reviews but I thought it was much better than a lot of low budget movies of this type that still spawned sequels- Sleepaway Camp ring a bell anyone? I also recall one of the best classics ever originally being panned by critical when it first came out, the original Evil Dead. While this is far from being in that category it still has its moments and may be a classic in the making, who knows? I'm impressed that it was as good as it was being the extremely low budget it was under, especially having a known celebrity as Tony Todd as part of the cast. I've come across so many horror movies on the streaming services where I couldn't watch any more than a half hours worth before turning them off, especially with the horrible acting involved, which was not the case here. All actors involved did seem to be much better than what you'd expect, that's for sure! But you can make your own decision.

What did I learn from wasting 90 minutes of my life...
mhorg20189 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So, What did I learn by wasting ninety minutes of my life. That black filmmakers can make just as poor a low budget slasher film as white filmmakers! I mean white filmmakers have made way more than their black counterparts, but with cheap films on the rise, I'm sure they can catch up. This is really a terrible movie. It's simply a grandchild of every single bad, waste of time slasher movie going back to the 1970's. Take a little Chainsaw massacre or Friday the 13th (The mask), the hulking geek who walks silently (Halloween remake, Texas Chainsaw again), the lame games that couldn't frighten anyone (any of the Saw films and their horrible remakes) add in so-so to decent acting, but leave out any gore or decent SFX (far too many films to be names here) and you have BA. I wish I could sue to get the ninety minutes I wasted on this trash, back.. I almost left out the lighting is terrible-likely to hide the terrible sets, the music is putrid and the game of Battleship the killer forces another to play-ripped off from Bill & Ted, only not as good. Just a truly tepid, terrible movie. Has to be seen to be disbelieved.

lot of problems but I liked it
likeemikey15 October 2022
The movie looks cheap but I still had a good time watching it. The kills were surprisingly gory. Liked the board death games.

Pretty decent cast I thought. Some wooden acting due to awkward writing, but also good moments.

Some parts like the grandma showing up near the end couldve been thought out better. The opening credits are a nice idea but the font used looks cheap and rushed.

Editing was choppy at parts and pretty noticeable.

I do think this movie deserved a better title IMO. The title holds back how serious the movie gets at times.

Killer was a little cringey but not too crazy. I guess the accent just threw me off at times.

But I liked the movie for the kills, tone and some good performances.

Cmon guys. It's not THAT bad
matthewmarklukejohn20 October 2022
B***h A*s is a very low budget movie with nice gore and a fun chemistry between the cast.

Is it perfect? Of course not. We have weird choices with the aspect ratio, some questionable choices as far as the script goes, and I thought the ending could've landed better. But despite my nitpicks, I had a good time.

I will say, pieces of the story do feel like a re-hash of Tales From the Hood. If B-horror movies are your thing, give it a shot. You might enjoy it like I did. The acting is decent, and the practical effects are fun.

I think 3.9 is ridiculous, and should be at least in the high 4's/low 5's. Hats off to a movie that was filmed with pennies.

Fun horror throwback
iamkrause15 October 2022
I liked this one quite a bit. It has "Boyz in da Hood/People Under the Stairs" vibes mixed with one of those movies where people are forced to play death games. It's low budget but nice looking, and the director played around with changing aspect ratios and split screen shots to add to the mood. Some funny stuff like score cards flashing on the screen and text popping up that only the audience can see. Some might not like those gimmicks but I do.

The games themselves were all based on beloved childhood games, except with a lot of blades, nooses and electric shocks. The gore was nice and explicit, if not a little cartoony. I like cartoons so whatever.

It really explained the killer's backstory, which I enjoyed, but it had a little bit too much of that backstory than necessary. They could have added in another death game and cut out some of that stuff.

The acting was hit and miss, but what do you expect from these kind of movies?

Can't remember much about the score, which means it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I loved the track on the end credits though.

Here's what you get with this movie. Just a fun throwback to the times when everything wasn't ghosts popping up making boo faces and loud pitch-shifter noises. If you yearn for those times, you might enjoy this one.

A Cult Classic In The Making
abdurrazaqdar10 October 2022
Bitch Ass has all the right elements to make it a cult classic in the future. The production value, despite the measly budget, is insane. This is the sort of slashers movies we have been missing from our life.

The movie provides enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie pays homage to all the lovable aspects of slasher movies. All the talented people involved with this project have done it justice.

The brilliant storytelling and acting overshadow all the minor production value issues. You feel as if you're watching a classic 80s or 90s slasher thriller. Bitch Ass is the next big slasher you need to look out for.

A great throwback to 90's slashers
terrellgivens12 October 2022
I had a lot of fun with this film. It's refreshing to see an all-black cast in a horror movie, which I find rare nowadays.

The entire cast delivers. I enjoyed the performances from the hooligans that break into the killer's house. Nice chemistry between the four.

I liked BA as a killer. The backstory makes him a bit sympathetic, and I didn't blame him for wanting to kill those who wronged him.

I will admit that the low-budget is very noticeable, but the story, gore, and acting elevate the movie to enjoyable heights.

Also got to see BA at a screening, so the audience experience enhanced my love for the movie.

9/10 for me.

Dope! fun watch
mossburgh-9699912 October 2022
Bloody and great gore.

The movie does look good from what the trivia says so points for that.

Good acting. The lady who played the mom was the best actor. She killed it every time.

AFRO was funny here good job on his performance. And the game he has to play was my favorite.

It was dope seeing Tony todd still at it. Small part but always good seeing him.

Didnt care for B***h a*s grandma. She was a little too much. Also didnt care for some of the lovey stuff. But then that's just me.

But I still liked the movie.

At the end of the movie it says that there can be a number 2. I would watch it.

Deeper than you think with great performances and WIDESCREEN!
joeplonsky15 October 2022
Bitch Ass harkens back to the fun of your first horror film. It looks great (boldly going anamorphic) and definitely delivers a good time -- thanks to its inspired cast, the script, and of course the directing. Bill Posley stages things well and amps up the tension throughout. Tunde Layele is a gem as the killer with the right kind of pathos to make the audience root for him. The rest of the cast are strongly developed and quite memorable -- especially young Cecil and his Grandmother.

Nutshell: If you're tired of flicks about an "invincible killer with a lame backstory", you should check out Bitch Ass.

So good!!!
DelilahHerbert77818 October 2022
I really enjoyed myself!! Was it perfect? No! But what horror movie is? It did exactly what it was suppose to do... bring back that 90's nostalgia vibe in an entertaining way that we've never seen before! The first black masked serial killer! We've never had that which is crazy! And they did it in a way that felt like a tribute to all black horror movies from back in the day... I mean iykyk and if you don't then sorry to you!!

There's horror, comedy and even moments where you feel for Bitch Ass. Not crazy about his name but overall the film was great! Fun characters and an enjoyable watch for sure. I recommend!

90's nostalgia
cynthiaranae17 October 2022
Bitch Ass didn't disappointment with creative ways of torching 🙌🏾 This all black cast had me on the edge of my seat as they navigated through the house looking for valuables unfortunately for them Bitch Ass has other plans.

Grab your friends and popcorn and enjoy this modern day horror film with a nod to the 90's. From the games to the costumes you are sure to feel like you're back in the 90's.

I love the horror aspect with a hint of comedy! Hold on and be ready to go back to the 90's!

If you've ever walked to the corner store for penny candy then you will truly appreciate this movie!!!!!

Just wow.

Love it!
ajcaesar17 October 2022
The first horror movie I ever saw was "Jaws"-an all-time classic filmed in 1975 by Steven Spielberg. My parents did not let me watch "Alien," "Friday 13," or any other horror thrillers, so I desperately wanted to see a movie that gives me this vibes. Kids in my class were bragging about watching this or that scary movie, and I remember envying them greatly. One day when my parents were out, and I was staying home, lazily clicking the TV remote, when all of a sudden a huge maw with razor-sharp teeth almost jumped out of the screen. It was already the middle of the movie and I did not get all the premise, but I still watched it till the end. Next day, I could finally boast of watching a horror film.

B***h A** still evokes warm memories in me. Long story short, I like movies about games. I also like games in general, but even more than that, I admire the resurrection of a black killer. So, when I saw trailers of "B***h A**" I knew what I wanted to watch!

Yo! Go buy this movie! It's absolutely a vibe! It's a classic that should definitely be amongst some of the greats!

The best horror film I seen this year
Clarissapatterson21 October 2022
Really great to see an all black cast, also brings back the 90's remind me of Tales of the Crypt, Tales of the Hood, Vampire in Brooklyn, Candyman, Leprechaun, ect.

I like how Cricket and Moo played off each other, by the way Cricket is my favorite character. B**ch A** was a great serial killer and villain, felt sorry for him at times. Playing board games great idea, win or lose to live or die. All the characters played their role perfectly, I loved the flash backs, kept the audience attention.

If you want a mystery, funny, any age group of characters, thriller up beat movie watch B**ch A**.

The opposite of "Weak.."
rsnhzsmbt3 November 2022
This is a direct response to a 3/10 review. I've never reviewed a movie on IMDb, I just created this account. Most of the movies I watch are multimillion dollar productions - this is apparently a $30,000 production. I'm extremely impressed!

No, it was not as good as it could have been with a bigger budget. However, everyone involved in making this should be proud of creating such a surprisingly entertaining movie. I'm most impressed with some of the filming techniques used and creative choices that I've never noticed elsewhere. This feels like a very 2022 movie even though I think zero references to the modern day are made. It seems like they brought new things to the horror genre based on the very few horror movies I've seen.

I would have never watched this on my own. I don't usually enjoy horror movies and even with the genres I like I'm very hesitant to watch something made by people who's work I haven't already enjoyed. Tonight, I'm thankful it was chosen by someone who didn't mind watching it a second time to show new people.

I'm giving this a 10/10 because I genuinely enjoyed it, I'll probably recommend it in the future, and I really disagree with the current low rating.

Low-Budget Saw
jmyohanan20 October 2022
Well done low-budget film. Kid games made into adult games, with shocks, blades, and more. Come and check it out if you like gore, Saw style type games - all done on a low budget but delivered with quality.

And for those who may get confused, this is not a "black empowerment" type film, unlike another user who posted a review here would like to mislead others to believe.

Now do I have anything to do with the movie being made, nor do I know anyone behind making this film. Truth be told, chisenhall may just have some personal issues he needs to resolve with himself, so take his biased with a grain of salt. Watch the film and form your own opinion.

Personally I found that I come to love and enjoy this movie.

Outstanding!!
Constacebrown3 November 2022
The actor's personality made the movie. These new upcoming artists need all support and encouragement. The black excellence is so authentic and pure filled with happiness! I suggested this to many of my friends and family because it is a wholesome movie and gave me so much laughter throughout the film. Cricket and Moo should've had longer scenes because of how funny they are, the acting flowed so smooth. I also enjoyed the one on one contact with B&tch A$$ so we witnesses each one of the characters skills and how the maneuvered when going up against their component. If you haven't watched it please do !!!
