  General Sam Lane : That's true, Mrs. Powell. We're still in the process of gathering facts about how Derek died.

  Sharon Powell : He died because of what Morgan Edge did. That is how he died! You have known for months, and you didn't bother saying anything to me.

  [as a soldier whispers in Sam's ear, he surreptitiously alerts Clark, then leans over to Lois] 

  General Sam Lane : My team just got a hit on Edge.

  Lois Lane : What?

  General Sam Lane : He just attacked the facility where Larr's being held. We need to go.

• Chrissy Beppo : General Lane, can you tell us where Morgan Edge is right now?

  General Sam Lane : I'm not able to publicly comment on that at this time.

  Chrissy Beppo : Why not? People are afraid and they wanna know that they're safe.

  General Sam Lane : [shouts of agreement]  Ms. Beppo, I think you've caused enough panic for one day.

  Chrissy Beppo : Can you at least tell us if Edge is in custody?

  General Sam Lane : Ms. Beppo...

  Lois Lane : No, he's not.

  General Sam Lane : Lois.

  Lois Lane : They deserve to know. Edge managed to escape a holding facility a few weeks ago. Now, since then, Superman and the DOD have been working diligently to try to track him down. But as of right now, his whereabouts are still unknown.

  Chrissy Beppo : Should we be worried that he's gonna come back here?

  General Sam Lane : I'm afraid until Morgan Edge is apprehended, there's reason for concern. But let me assure you, the DOD is doing everything we can to keep the people of Smallville safe.

  Sharon Powell : Don't anyone trust a word that man says.

  General Sam Lane : Is that Derek Powell's mother?

  Lois Lane : Yeah.

  Sharon Powell : The DOD has been lying for months. Ever since my son died.
