Nutty comedy with fun , hilarious set pieces and disconcerting scenes without falling into the histrionic or excessive.
ma-cortes14 October 2022
Eduardo (Miguel De La Lira) and his brother-in-law, Sabonis (Xosé A. Touriñán) , are in desperate need for money . Both of whom decide to execute their great goal and the solution results to be kidnapping Modesto (Federico Pérez Rey) , Alicia's (Paku Granxa) brother-in-law, the woman who got them into trouble in the first place, only she's not planning on paying an Euro. Meanwhile , a police inspector (Eva Fernández) -who turns out to be sister-in-law of one of them- investigates the rare kidnap . There're also couple moments with Eduardo who separates his wife Peque (María Vázquez), fights among the brothers-in-law , basketball, and anything else .

There's a brief depiction of the Galician habits and the ordinary people . Galicia has always been known for its good food, its Camino de Santiago, its football teams , its Celtic music, its ribeiro wine , its mythology and for its beautiful and green landscapes. And , of course , the northern accent is not lacking, it is entirely recorded in Galician . This is a comical and sometimes embarrassing account of two pals , a hilarious movie , fast , agile in the dialogues , and there are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit , however they bear a strong Galician accents , that's is why being hard to understand them , at times . It takes a simple concept , a duo of bungler friends who abduct another , their adventures and misfortunes throughout Ourense, Galicia outdoors . Stars Xosé A. Touriñán as Sabonis , Miguel de Lira as Eduardo as the kidnapped Modesto played by Federico Pérez Rey giving sympathetic acting ; among the diverse leading trio, a comic vibe develops that, although it cannot be said to be groundbreaking, often makes us laugh. The characters are quite odd , grotesque and geek and the film races on at speed enough. Undertaking an undercover criticism of the Galician society from the personal , social , cultural , and economic perspective , while the three protagonists needing all of them , urgently , a lot of money to resolve their problems . In the film there are strange situations , swift frames , twists and turns ; but it especially contains ample touches of humor and irony . The flick interweaves fun comedy along with a social critical about the deep Spanish crisis , including a real critique to economic abuses , speculation ; as well as a little bit of suspense and chases . This film is made to entertain , and this movie , especially for a good time and a pleasant entertainment . And it results in a passable yarn , with a brief message about corruption and economical crisis . The flick packs rapid dialogue in strong accent , silly incidents , fun plot twists , tongue-in-cheek , grotesque situations and above all , humor . ¨Brothers-in-law¨ could have been even funnier if it didn't cut short with its mischievousness . It is somewhat white in its humor and that does not have to be a problem, but it does leave us with the impression that it could have been used for something more poignant or hilarious. As a virtue, it is neither stale nor burdensome, something that could easily have fallen into with three brothers-in-law on hand. Sitting in a strange middle ground between the completely absurd and the stylishly cool . This film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few ridiculous .

The motion picture was professionally directed by Toño López who wanted to make a family film , he was born in 1971 in Ourense, Galicia, where he often shoots his films . Toño Lopez is emerging as a very decent director . He is a filmmaker and editor, known for Matalobos (2009), Cuñados (2021) , Auga Seca (2020) and TV series as Nada es para siempre ,Los Avatars , Reliquias , Valderrei , La revoltosa and Los Argonoutas . If you take out some of the usual cliches; the movie manages to be funny but not hilarious.

Gallician comedy
napakujr19 August 2022
This is a very nice Gallician comedy. I watched it in Castelliano with English subtitles because my Spanish is still rubbish even after several years of vacationing in Spain:) It's the story of 3 brother in laws who's lives get intertwined with a mony scam.

Almost everything shot on location in Ourense,Spain and the final scene takes in Allariz,Spain (the place where I usually spend my holidays) in a restaurant.

It's a nice rounded story where in the end the loser of the brother in laws becomes a hero.

It's also nice to seen a lott of things typically for Gallicia to be featured in the movie. (Empenada, pulpo, wine) If you're familiar with the region one to watch.
