Saturday’s episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa opened with the contestants performing in teams, with each judge of Jhalak, heading the team. Team Madhuri features Ashish, Akshat and Mallishka. Team Remo features Tara, Kushal and Kiku. Team Karan features Mouni, Shakti, Sophie and Karan. Team Madhuri danced on ‘O Re Piya’ from Aaja Nachle, team Remo danced on ‘Pump It Up’ from Chance pe Dance and team Karan danced on ‘Iski Uski’ from 2 States.
It was then time to decide which contestants would be in this week’s face-off. Kushal and Kiku were the bottom 2 contestants this week.
Kiku and Kruti were the first to perform. Their chosen dance style was popping and locking. Their chosen song was ‘Badtameez Dil’ from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Their act was based on an elderly couple who were celebrating their anniversary. As always, Kiku’s scores were saved and would be revealed after Kushal’s performance.

Having grown up with dance reality series, Boogie Woogie being the first, harboring a penchant for dance and ensuring I’ve caught every dance flick that’s ever been made, the not-so successful history with Bollywood dance flicks (remember Chance Pe Dance) had made me very wary of reviewing Abcd – AnyBody Can Dance. Being a loyal audience of ‘So you think you can dance’ and the ‘Step Up’ series, although not the biggest fan of the latter, I usually felt that we lacked the finesse that was required of western routines. With Abcd I had two major apprehensions – How much originality would Remo be able to introduce in dance routines that haven’t been done before and secondly having keenly followed the telecasted dance performances of the films protagonists, Dharmesh, Salman, Lauren, would their inexperience in acting cause hiccups in matching the standards set by its Hollywood contemporary?

Post the 2010 debacle Chance Pe Dance that starred Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza, director Ken Ghosh, who has been missing in action, will be returning to direction soon. It is learnt that Ken who is keen on returning to direction will be helming the project which is basically a rustic comedy produced by Shyam Bajaj. Though more details of the film are awaited, reports confirm that the film unlike Chance Pe Dance with Shahid, will feature Arshad Warsi and R. Madhavan in lead roles. The reason behind the casting of these two actors is that apparently the film being a comedy, Ken wanted actors who are known for their comic timing and who better than Arshad and Madhavan could fit the roles.

New Delhi, Oct 13: Bollywood director Ken Ghosh says despite being the country's entertainment capital, Mumbai is a tough place to shoot in.
"Why is Mumbai (which is the film capital of India) such a difficult place to shoot in? The red tape that a producer faces is ridiculous," tweeted Ghosh.
He has earlier directed movies like "Ishq Vishk", "Fida" and "Chance Pe Dance".

We have heard of slapstick, loud, situational, subtle and black comedy but while talking to writer-actor Manu Rishi we were introduced to a totally new nomenclature for a comic/comedy film. To make things clear we wanted to know from the highly talented and multi-faceted, Manu Rishi, if his upcoming flick, the Rakesh Mehta directed, Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi (where he essays the role of an 'over the top' 'jat' cop), was a black comedy. But being a renowned writer (Chance Pe Dance),...

Surprising as it may seem, Vidya Balan is going to use cosmetic filling to round off a few of her assets
Actress Vidya Balan is definitely in the mood to get into the skin of the late Southern siren Silk Smitha. Vidya (33), who plays Smitha in Milan Luthria?s Dirty Picture, is reportedly going to use cosmetic filling to acquire Smitha?s child bearing hips and bum.
Even as we write this, Vidya is pilling on the kilos to look like the voluptuous Smitha. Producer Ekta Kapoor wants Vidya to have well rounded bottom just like the controversial south actress. However this is not the first time bum-pads are being used in Bollywood. According to reports, actor Shahid Kapoor and actress Anushka Sharma used these to enhance their tush in Chance Pe Dance (2010) and Patiala House (2011) respectively.

Three flops, Dil Bole Hadippa, Chance Pe Dance and Paathshaala, and people were quick to dismiss Shahid Kapoor's latest film Badmaash Company. True there was not much hype for the movie despite some very good publicity (Seemingly Yash Raj have learnt from their previous mistakes of keeping their films under wraps!), and there were many reasons for that. After Housefull opened to an excellent start last week, it was the turn of Badmaash Company to open to a heartening start at the box-office. Shahid Kapoor's last major release Chance Pe Dance (not counting Paathshaala) had fetched a below average start, so it was imperative that Badmaash Company fetch a good start at the ticket window. The opening numbers of Badmaash Company were an impressive 80% to 90% at places, while at places it ranged from 45% to 75%, which only improved towards the evening shows.
Badmaash Company grossed a decent 13.50 crore nett over its first weekend. The film did around 5 crore nett in Mumbai and around 3 crore nett in Delhi/Up. East Punjab added another 1 crore nett approx. The business on saturday and Sunday was better than Friday but jump was not huge.
The first week is looking to finish in the 19-21 crore nett depending on the how well the weekdays perform.

May 10, 2010: At the box office, ‘Badmaash Company’ has managed to take an opening which is better than what one would have expected. While one was looking at a 50%-60% start, there was a pleasant surprise in store as collections were a little more than 60% all over. Considering the fact that there was a perception being built around Shahid Kapoor, courtesy his crop of films after ‘Kaminey’, several in the industry believed that ‘Badmaash Company’ would take a hit because of that. However, such perceptions were completely misplaced because except for ‘Chance Pe Dance’.

Karan, the co-proprietor of Badmaash Company, who arrives in the theatres today, takes us back to the swinging '90s when matinee idols like the Bollywood Khans, Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman, ruled the marquee. "They still do," Shahid Kapoor is quick to point out.A few weeks ago, Parmeet Sethi, the director of Badmaash Company, had admitted that his elder son had come expecting to be bored through 18 reels of a typical Hindi potboiler. Instead, he had been surprised by a slick flick that was as much cool Hollwood as it was commercial Bollywood. One of the reasons for that, you discover, is because his lead actor's wardrobe has been borrowed liberally from Top Gun Tom Cruise, Shah Rukh Raj Khan from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Rangeela Aamir Khan. 'Chance Pe Dance' (2010)
Starring Shahid Kapoor, Genelia D'Souza
If you want to swoon like a schoolgirl, 'Chance Pe Dance'—a showcase for Shahid Kapoor's gorgeous physique and dancing prowess—delivers. But if you're looking for a compelling story that isn't utterly predictable, it doesn't.
Kapoor plays Sameer, an aspiring actor in Mumbai. In Bollywood, dancing ability is nearly as important as acting ability, and Kapoor is exceptional at both, but we only see his character's dancing expertise. In fact, Sameer is so good on the dance floor that he doesn't make a convincing underdog. Someone who looks and moves like him has the odds stacked in his favor, and his dream is hardly a long shot. In fact, that's the very premise of the story—that everyone is born with certain gifts that destine them to do certain things, and Sameer has been told his...

Had it not been for Aditya Chopra, Parmeet Sethi.s Badmaash Company for Yash Raj Films wouldn.t have been completed. Aditya played peacemaker between Shahid and Parmeet who shared a testy relationship after getting into a conflict right at the start of the shoot.A source from the sets revealed, .Shahid was highly inquisitive and often questioned Parmeet.s decisions on the sets. More often than not, Shahid wanted to be the one to decide whether a shot was okay or not. He always used to question Parmeet about why he was asksing for so many retakes. For both Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza, the year 2010 has started on a mixed note. Neither Rann nor Chance Pe Dance did well at the box office. However, the silver lining was the appreciation that both the actors earned for their act in the two films. Though Genelia had received some flak for her last release Life Partner, audience warmed up to her performance in Chance Pe Dance. On the other hand Riteish Deshmukh, who didn't have many cheers coming his way after Aladin...

And since he didn’t want to use make-up to hide the circles, he sought the safer way out. Mots also says that Shasha has added pages of the 12 characters of Priyanka Chopra from What’s Your Raashee? to his Facebook profile. Hmmm.... ...

This week's solo release is going to be Anil Sharma's Salman Khan and Zarine Khan starrer, Veer. Based of some good 'wide canvas' promotion, melodious music and curiosity factor, Veer, is expected to embark on a healthy start, more so at single screens. Last Friday's Ken Ghosh directed Shahid-Genelia starrer, Chance Pe Dance, failed to appeal to the audience, as we had feared. Released at 96 cinemas of Bombay-Thane (by Utv Motion Pictures) the film saw a so-so start. Outside of...

So, what was it like matching steps with Shahid Kapoor? There weren’t too many steps to match, thank God, since I’m playing a choreographer in Chance Pe Dance. What little I had was fun since you’re inspired just watching Shahid groove. The film is not so much about dance as struggle, aspiring actor Sameer’s struggle. I’m his soul mate, the one person he can talk to, laugh and cry with. (Smiles) My line “You want to franship with me?” seems to have caught on in a big way. The short hair is also getting a lot of ...

They'd confirmed the Shahid-Priyanka break-up after months of hints and guessing. The two friends (the only definite label we can give them) stopped following each other on Twitter, breaking even their supposed "friendship" and then Shahid was rumored to be flirting with a non-Bollywood mystery woman in Goa.
That saga was over and the media closed their pages, after months of guessing and pages of rumors.
Then, at Pyaar Impossible's preview screening, Shahid Kapur not only attended but sat next to PC. They seemed to be pretty flirty at the meeting.
And that's not all - while promoting his movie Chance Pe Dance, Shahid revealed that "Priyanka is a wonderful co-star. It has always been fun working with her. I think woh mujhe pasand toh karti hain. Main bhi unhe pasand karta hoon," said Shahid.
Is this all a part of their elaborate plan for ultimate media coverage? Now that would be a mind-boggling,...

Director Ken Ghosh is unfazed by the lukewarm reception that Chance Pe Dance has got at the box office. While initial reports suggest that this Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza starrer could garner only 30% occupancy on it's opening day, the film maker believes that word of mouth will take the film past the safety mark. One wonders though about the confidence level that Ken has in the film considering the fact that the reviews have ranged from below average to average. Though...

At one point in this heartwarming journey into the life of a Bollywood struggler, one of the kids in the school where our hero teaches dance wonders how he manages to wear such trendy T-shirts when he lives in a car and has no money for food.
‘Arrey, those are duplicates of branded T-shirts, you can get them at Rs.150 on the pavement,’ retorts a know-all kid. That one fleeting moment sums up what ‘Chance Pe Dance’ strives to squeeze into two hours of fluid playing-time.
Right.
