I like the idea of a gremlin nation, but to ban all immigration and gremlins having genocidal tendencies? Come on! It's bad enough that Hollyweirdos have ruined all other franchises! Why must the leftists touch this one too? This is why I'm not excited for new movies anymore because of Hollyweirdos politicizing everything they touch, and yet they claim the right pushes propaganda. I can see this movie have racial issues while ignoring the real issues today. I see the BS on both sides really. The far right wants to get rid of autistic people all because of the epileptic boy in the Bible, yet the left ignores that. There is systematic human trafficking, and yet the left ignores that too. We have legitimate issues that BOTH sides of the majority chose to ignore. Instead, they want us to transform into weirdos. If you ask me, the Hollyweirdos and the government are the gremlins who forces change down our throats to change into them! This movie ain't gonna make it to the theaters or stores!

Fun visuals, especially the makup, but with the rest I am glad it was such a short film

Warning: Spoilers
"Gremlins 3: Dawn of Desmond" is a fairly long title for a film that makes it only slightly past the two-minute mark. The director is Justin Cipriani and the writer is Nick Lutsko and he also plays a character in here and the production company is named after him, so you can probably say that this is his film more than anybody else's. Taking the idea to make (very) short films look like movie trailers is nothing that this film has done that others haven't. Of course, this way they also go forward with the idea that if the short film or trailers gets a really big approval or fanbase, that there is indeed the option for a full feature film being made. So in a way, you cannot be totally sure if it is a short film or a trailer when you watch it right after its release. But the more time passes afterwards, the less likely it is that it will turn into an actual trailer for an upcoming work. This one here is from December 2020, actually just two days before Christmas, and this means that it is almost three years old now that I am writing this review and it seems unlikely that there will be a full feature film to come. Lutsko himself uploaded this on his Youtube channel where it has scored almost 200,000 views by now. It is still his only writing credit to this day. With Cipriani you can say that he is at least as much of a cinematographer as he is a director. So yeah, it was not really those two guys that drew attention to this project, but rather the fact that it is linked to the Gremlins franchise, even if all in all it is just a fan film you can say. Probably the name of Tim Heidecker in the cast is helping a bit as well, even if Tim & Eric were never really super-big names either. Some find them funny, others not so much, but it is not important here.

All in all, I would say that the outcome here is a bit on the forgettable side. As I stated in the title of my review already, I quite liked the makeup work with how they made the hybrid between human and Gremlin look like. Nicely done there. Also when we hear one such character (is there only one?) have a meltdown as he starts swearing. Everything else was just not good enough for a positive recommendation. Oh and Jennifer Aniston is referenced twice here as it seems she was taken hostage by the Gremlin man or so. She is of course not part of this short film otherwise. Maybe it was just the looks that I liked about him, the physicality I mean like how he is basically a human from the neck down and the strong contrast to the Gremlin head. At the end, we also find out why there have not yet been seven Gremlins movies or rather we hear the explanation of one character or a narrator. That is all then. Overall, this film does not deserve to call itself "Gremlins 3". I give it a thumbs-down and I think it is really only a must-see for the very biggest Gremlins fan. Or maybe it is exactly those who should skip it more than anybody else. But I kinda wonder when there will actually be a third Gremlins film happening. I'd be surprised if it does not happen before 2030. The series is still known by literally everybody and has massive cult status and these days they are picking up so often on old content that it is destined to happen eventually. Probably rather sooner than later.

Ya'll, this is a true masterpiece. You thought Gizmo was just a little Mogwai, but his son Desmond starts a legacy in this movie. This is the Empire Strikes Back of the Gremlin universe. Get your hybrid gremlin ass to see this movie.
