‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is an upcoming TV show created for Disney+ and a part of a Star Wars franchise. The show has been discussed since 2019, the premiere of ‘The Rise of the Skywalker’ when Leslye Headland expressed interest in the franchise as a massive fan.
In April 2020, it was announced that Headland would be writing and show-running a new Star Wars series centered around female characters for Disney+. Staffing for the series had already commenced, and it was anticipated to explore a distinct era within the Star Wars universe separate from other projects. Recently, a new trailer for the show dropped and over the course of numerous interviews, Headland revealed what fans can expect. If you don’t have time to comb through hours of text, we’ve summarized everything for you in this neat guide.

One of the best and most devastating moments in "Star Wars" is Order 66 in "Revenge of the Sith." To close out the Clone Wars, the clone troopers that have fought beside the Jedi turn and shoot their commanders in the back, on orders from Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
The most memorable death is Jedi Aayla Secura on the jungle planet Felucia, shot in the back by Clone Commander Bly and his brothers-in-arms. In one draft of the script (but not the finished film), Aayla is scouting for enemy droids and asking Bly for his input before he shoots, emphasizing her being taken by surprise. The Felucia scene would also feature Bly and the clones fragging Jedi Barriss Offee, but this was deleted, so the "Clone Wars" and "Tales of the Jedi" cartoons took that character in another direction.
That wasn't the only change to the scene. You see, in "Revenge of the Sith,...

With the massive success of the Invincible TV series, Skybound Entertainment has decided to expand into the gaming industry as they plan to release a Aaa game based on the iconic comics and TV series. Despite being one of the most popular franchises in the world, Skybound is still relying on crowdfunding for the Invincible video game.
A still from Invincible
Skybound has set up an investment opportunity for the fans on the Republic investment platform, allowing people to invest a minimum of $100 into the game. They have already raised $18 million from everyday investors and fans through Republic/Seedrs, so why do they need crowdfunding again? The strange part of this investment is that people who invest will not even get equity in the company as Skybound has the right to decide in the future if they want to provide investors with equity.

Invincible is one of the most popular TV adaptations based on a comic book by the same name, and there’s no surprise that the gaming community wants a piece of that experience too. Skybound, the studio behind the series, has started a kickstart campaign in hopes of actualizing this vision.
The team has been vocal about envisioning Invincible as a triple-a quality video game, which is true to its source material and gives players the freedom to explore some of their favorite characters from comics and shows.
Skybound Isn’t New to Handing Epic Franchises
The talented minds at Skybound aren’t new to crafting daunting and powerful experiences. In fact, these are the same creators who have managed an IP as strong and popular as The Walking Dead. Given how versatile the franchise has been in the context of different adaptations, it’s likely we’ll see the same with Invincible.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan in terms of quantity. There’s more Star Wars on screen and on the page now than ever before in the franchise’s history. From Disney+ series to video games to The High Republic books and Marvel comics, you can experience new adventures in the galaxy far, far away pretty much any way you want it right now. If Lucasfilm were able to get some movies off the ground, we’d be able to say that the franchise is firing on all cylinders.
Whether or not we finally do get some new Star Wars on the big screen in the years to come, the future of the franchise is still very bright, thanks to TV series like The Mandalorian, which has already expanded across multiple spinoffs full of Original Trilogy nostalgia and exciting new characters. The Acolyte’s Vernestra Rwoh Has ‘Been Through Some Shit’ After The High Republic Novels – Exclusive
For the most part, The Acolyte is set to be an entirely new Star Wars experience. It’s set in an unexplored era, 100 years prior to The Phantom Menace; it has an entirely new cast of Jedi; its mystery plot is being kept tightly under wraps. But for fans of The High Republic novels – set 100 years before The Acolyte – there’ll be a familiar face. Rebecca Henderson is playing Vernestra Rwoh – a High Republic character who, in the books, is a prodigious young Jedi Knight who passed the trials at 15, and soon finds herself facing the threat of the marauding Nihil. In The Acolyte, the green-skinned Mirialan is now 116 years old – and a fully-fledged Jedi Master based in the temple on Coruscant.
The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland is thrilled to have Rwoh be part of her series. “I absolutely love Vernestra. You can tell, because I cast my wife,” she laughs while speaking to Empire.

The latest chapter in the ongoing "Star Wars" saga is upon us in the form of "The Acolyte." The new live-action series hails from Leslye Headland ("Russian Doll") and has been in the works for some time. The show will not only be centering on new characters in a galaxy far, far away, but will be taking us to a largely unexplored era in the larger "Star Wars" timeline: The High Republic.
Disney and Lucasfilm recently released the first trailer for "The Acolyte," which is full of Jedis and drenched in darkness. But as fans will surely note, there are lots of Jedi here, something we haven't seen as much on-screen since the prequels. That's because the High Republic takes place hundreds of years before the events of the original films. However, this show has the interesting distinction of taking place at the very end of the High Republic era,...

There will be spoilers for "Star Wars - The High Republic: Defy the Storm" by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland.
"Star Wars: The High Republic" continues its march through its third phase with the release of "Star Wars: Defy the Storm," which was co-written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland. It builds off the events of "Star Wars - The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness" and shows us a galaxy in disarray thanks to the evil Nihil and their Stormwall. For those who haven't been keeping up with the High Republic era, these books are set more than a hundred years before the events of "The Phantom Menace" and are a look at the Jedi at their true height, just as they begin their descent that will ultimately lead to their destruction. They face an enemy called the Nihil, brutal pirates who will stop at nothing to take what they want.

How many joints, bottles of vodka and online loans does it take to live in a self-created communist hippy community declared as a “Republic” to keep the flame of idealism burning? I am not sure about the substances, but the 80000 yuan worth of debt and the broken heating in winter prove to be the limit.

A new restoration of the 1959 horror film on Blu-ray and DVD, and making its UK digital debut, Horrors Of The Black Museum, starring Michael Gough and directed by Arthur Crabtree (Fiend Without a Face), marked the first film in the “Sadian Trilogy”, followed by the Hammer favourite Circus of Horrors and Michael Powell’s infamous Peeping Tom – introducing cinema audiences to a more shocking and salacious brand of onscreen horror.
A series of grisly, macabre murders sweep London and leave Scotland Yard completely baffled. Bancroft, an evil crime journalist, is hypnotising his assistant to commit murders using items curated in his own personal “Black Museum” – inspired by the infamous real-life collection of weapons and torture instruments used by criminals. Using these murders to fuel his own crime stories, Bancroft delights in the Yard’s embarrassment.

“Petroleum” is a dose of funk-inspired post-punk that gradually builds into a shimmering breakdown, as vocalist James Smith pores over the pros and cons of following your dreams: “My bones burn/ And the brain that’s controlling them/ Knows that the soul needs petroleum/ That’s how it goes.
“I lost it with the crowd in Bognor Regis and told them I was bored and I didn’t want to be there,” Smith says of the backstory to the track. “Me and Ryan [Needham] had a row after, and Ryan rightly dressed me down for the way I acted. It got me pondering the idea that, now this is a job, what are the requirements of it? People think they want honesty but they don’t, they want me to portray the version of honesty...

Warning: This review will contain spoilers for "Star Wars: The High Republic - The Eye of Darkness" by George Mann, which was provided to the author for purposes of review
As the first adult novel in the third phase of Lucasfilm's High Republic initiative, "Star Wars: The High Republic - The Eye of Darkness" by George Mann takes us back to the future. In the first phase of the High Republic, the clock was set back on the "Star Wars" universe about 150 years before the events of "The Phantom Menace." As the Republic is much more of a frontier government, stretching its influence in a galaxy where communication is a little bit more difficult, the Jedi are tested by a group called the Nihil who ultimately destroy their station, Starlight Beacon. It was an attack on the very ideals of the Republic and the foundation of the Jedi. Many...

New Delhi, Oct 15 (Ians) To mark the 38th birthday of the Telugu star Sai Dharam Tej, his upcoming action film ‘Gaanja Shankar’ has released a teaser which shows the actor in a menacing, and bloody new avatar.
‘Gaanja Shankar’ in many ways appears to be a bit like ‘Leo’ though Sai, though the actor who plays the film’s titular character looks more like an anti-hero than your everyday typical film hero.
The teaser kicks off with what sounds like Ganja Shankar’s daughter, asking him about superheroes like Superman and Spiderman, even the Bgm in its initial notes sounds like something out of an ‘Avengers’ movie, though it quickly takes a different turn.
While the ‘Republic’ actor is narrating a story to his daughter, the clip shows the actor first smoking a cigar while wearing some cool looking glasses, his face is not fully revealed.

Iqbal H. Choudhury’s “The Wrestler” and Mori Tatsutya’s “September 1923” were announced joint winners of the New Currents competition at the Busan International Film Festival.
“The Wrester” “was like a single round match, magically depicting an exciting narrative,” the jury said. “We support the bravery to face the history that had been forgotten,” the jury said of “September 1923.”
In the separate Jiseok competition, open to more experienced Asian filmmakers, the joint winners were Prasanna Vithanage’s “Paradise” and Mirlan Abdykalykov’s “Bride Kidnapping.”
“Vithanage exposes how a corrupt regime ruins this beautiful country by obstructing peace, depriving its citizens of humanity as they corner them into oppression,” said the separate Jiseok jury. Calling “Bride Kidnapping” a “powerful film,” the Jiseok jury said, “This film vividly depicts the prevalent shocking customs in Kyrgyzstan with unforgettable characters and a straightforward narrative.”

“Given the slow film market globally, I think many were eager to find new business opportunities and share information about the state of the market,” said Hyung-rae Kim, the festival representative. “There were a lot of visitors from Indonesia this year. In 2022, Jane Campion made history as the first female director to be nominated for Best Director twice. And then, for “The Power of Dog,” she followed through and won, becoming the third female director to take home the top prize.
The win was a triumphant and long overdue achievement for Campion, who has consistently been one of the best directors actively working since her 1989 feature debut “Sweetie.” The black comedy about a dysfunctional family marked the New Zealand-born director as a great talent immediately, entering the Cannes Film Festival and taking home an Independent Spirit Award for Best Foreign Film shortly afterwards. Just a year later, Campion released her first masterpiece: the Janet Frame biopic, “An Angel at My Table.”
From there, her 1993 feature “The Piano” netted Campion her first Best Director nomination, while efforts like “The Portrait of a Lady,” “Holy Smoke,” “In the Cut,” and “Bright Star” received acclaim.

James Hawes‘ Holocaust drama “One Life” will be the American Express Gala at the 67th BFI London Film Festival.
The film tells the true story of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who, in the months leading up to WWII, rescued 669 children from the Nazis. Fifty years later, in 1988, Winton is haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England. It’s not until a live television show “That’s Life” surprises him with the surviving children – now adults – seated all around him that he can finally make peace with the loss he had carried for five decades.
The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Johnny Flynn, Lena Olin, Romola Garai, Alex Sharp, Marthe Keller, Jonathan Pryce and Helena Bonham-Carter.
Hawes said: “This film pretty much begins and ends in London and says so much about the people of this city, its heart and its history.

As the "Fast & Furious" movies have accumulated over the years, they have undergone a strange evolution. Some might even call it a mutation. When it started out in 2001, "The Fast and the Furious" was a mere mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff set in the high-octane world of Los Angeles street racing. It was beautiful actors driving fast cars and a transparent excuse to film women in short shorts. By the fifth film in the series, "Fast Five," the franchise had unwittingly constructed an ensemble of superheroic characters and had brazenly left physics in the dust. No longer race movies or heist movies, the "Furious" series had come to occupy the overblown espionage genre. By "Fast Five," the features had more in common with the "Mission: Impossible" movies or James Bond than they did with their direct progenitors.
With "Fast X," the 11th film in the series, the franchise has only gotten bigger and bigger.

This Post Contains spoilers for this week’s episode of The Mandalorian, “The Pirate.”
Well, that was a mostly welcome change of pace.
In a broad sense, “Guns for Hire” fits the Mission of the Week mode that The Mandalorian does so well, but it does it in a couple of unusual ways. It is both as comedic as the series seems capable of (or, at least, interested in) going, and it is basically a buddy cop show, with Mando and Bo-Katan making like Lennie Briscoe and one of his many partners.

April showers might bring May flowers but on Disney+, April brings us all a heaping dose of Jeremy Renner. That’s right, friends, Disney+’s list of new releases for April 2023 includes the event we’ve all been waiting for: Rennervations.
A balm for those missing the Jeremy Renner app, Rennervations will make use of Marvel star Jeremy Renner’s last name and interest in renovation. Will the show be good? Who knows! But it sounds goofily fun enough and was a great excuse to use that photo of Hawkeye (Renner) and Captain America (Anthony Mackie) enjoying each other’s company.
Elsewhere on Disney+ this month is a whole lot of Star Wars. The season 3 finale of The Mandalorian will premiere on April 19. That will be immediately followed by a fresh Star Wars series, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Set during The High Republic era, this animated show will follow...

Headquartered in Mumbai, the streamer now has three content offices in South India, in Kochi, Hyderabad and Chennai. SonyLIV also now has 24 million paid subscribers, SonyLIV head of content Saugata Mukherjee told Variety.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the second episode of "The Mandalorian" season 3.
"The Mandalorian" is back, and season 3 is not wasting any time. Right in its second episode, "Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore," the show has already reached its destination, the place that has been mentioned since its first season: Mandalore. The lost home of the titular Mandalorians, Mandalore has been a significant planet in the history of the "Star Wars" galaxy for millennia. The Mandalorian civilization served an important role, going from conquerors, to peaceful people, back to conquerors, and everything in between, before becoming Pacific Islander-inspired navigators and bounty hunters.
Episode 2 finally showed us the surface of the once-splendid Mandalorian homeworld. Din Djarin, unsurprisingly, finds not a beautiful landscape of green and natural beauty, but a desolate wasteland right out of a Phil Tippett nightmare, with terrifying cyborgs that look like the child of General...
