Now this film was one that flew over almost everyone's radar. Without spoiling too much, it is about a man scrambling to get a job, it's a coming of age story, mystery story, drama or thriller. In fact, the movie may even be seen as open for your own interpretation, you could argue that this is due to unfinished and confused writing, but actually I believe this to be intentional by the director and actor making his on screen debut in a stand alone feature film. You must give this film a chance as though it starts slow, it provokes immense thought and leads you to question yourself and your own decisions that you've made to this point in your life. The unexpected tone changes and well written dialogue make this film stand out, as though it is unique, it succeeds where most films like it fail, and kept me very intrigued until the very end. The performance from a young Alistair Gilchrist was very mature and brave. You may see certain moments where the acting is rough around the edges but as the only character in the film, I believe he does his role justice. He is as relatable as he is mysterious. This movie is accompanied by many original songs that are fantastic and could very easily feature in a box office smash hit. Overall, the film works in many different elements and though occasionally it can feel overwhelming, for the most part the film kept me very curious and through all the original pieces that come together, a fantastic first project was created with very little financial backing and low budget. I am extremely excited to see what comes next from this upcoming young director/actor, and one of the many positive words that spring to mind when thinking of Gilchrist should be potential, and three more could be blood, sweat and tears.
