Best Love, best kisses!
AppleEye2U11 February 2022
One of the big pros of Taiwanese BL is that they aren't infected with CCP syndrome, that is: without messed-up plots or silly tropes due to censorship. The stories are pretty straight forward and almost minimalistic. You'll get romance full of pining, pretty boys, and their intention to hold on through thick and thin. "We Best Love" is no exception, except that some scenes affected me more than I anticipated.

Story

No.1 For You starts as boys love at school and ends with the ML leaving the country because he visits his family in America. He didn't come back. He left no message, and the other ML was heart broken. In the sequel, Fighting Mr. Second, the one with the heartache has become the boss of a company his ex-boyfriend runs. They meet again, and the quitter gets literally slapped in the face by him. Question is: what happened long ago? It seems they still have feelings for each other, can hate turn into love again, will they succeed in rekindling their love?

The Cast

Sam Lin shines as the male lead Gao Shi De, more or less a throwback to his role as Mu Liu Bing in Moon River (2015). Both men seem easy-going on the outside, but are inwardly darker. They have no scruples when it comes to scheming their way to the heart of their beloved. They're also ruthless when when they think it's the best strategy to close off their relationship. YU fits the bill as well, as Zhou Shu Yi, a maelstrom of apparent contradictions. He's fiercely loyal but it takes a lot of effort at first, to gain his trust; he's prickly on the outside with a soft heart on the inside. In short, they're made for each other. The supporting cast is also good, but We Best Love is simply too short to give all of them the screen time they deserve.

The Good

There are two times that We Best Love reaches the top of BL productions. Watch the emotional drunk scene with Gao Shi De in the second series, episode 2, and you know what I mean. It has also one of the best kissing scenes and camera angles, I've ever seen in chinese series. Second place is the love that is shown between two guys who have contrasting mental disorders.

The Bad

The relationship between Yu Zhen Xuan and Pei Shou Yi that is only hinted at in the first series, feels a bit forced. The BL format of 6 episodes can't pay tribute to their characters and the complications of their love life. They deserve a series of their own.

Overall

Still I was hooked by the story, to the level of "I'm not crying, you're crying". So watch it, if you're a sucker for romance. Nothing better than watching people falling in love, regardless of their gender, or mental health for that matter.

Love it!

Yes this series definitely has its flaws but I really love the storyline, the acting and especially the chemistry between the main leads. Gao Shi De is really a gentleman and Zhou Shou Yi is cute. I love them on screen and off screen 😍

In my opinion, this is the best BL produced by Taiwan
Mndbwn8 March 2022
The storyline is really interesting...until it isn't. Few parts that are kinda weird and disconnected. However, the actors are really good. Especially the main actors. Fun fact, One of the main is acting for the very first time in this series.

It warms my heart, truly!

This series is so darn adorable! I'm a fan of a good bromance/BL but I find that 80% of them tend to be cheesy and can feel a bit forced, but this little gem had good dialogue, the storyline was believable, and the cast members were very attractive too!! I found myself giggling like a silly school girl most of the time! I really liked it.

One of my 3 BL's top ten
soledad-platero5 June 2021
It's not usual to get two lead actors, specially when they are new in the industry to nail everything in their performances. But I truly believe the casting was perfect. Cause I felt Sam and Yu created, developed their characters together (they understood the dynamic) so Zhou Shu Yi y Gao Shi De could show that in every scene. I didn't feel any crack in the way their feelings increased or showed up.

The story is not the most original, but, in my opinion, the most significant aspect is its realism. It's shown so beautifully.

Best BL drama. With perfect storyline, angst, amazing chemistry of ALL characters and ACTING SKILLS
darkclouds-5746423 April 2021
I rarely watch any dramas, be it a bl or straight ones. This one caught my eye because a scene of this series made into my recommendations.

I watched the scene and that single minute clip showed me how amazing the two main leads are. Their expressions, dialogue delivery, and overall acting skills are simply amazing.

I decided to watch the series and it is just one of the bests out there.

Sam Lin and Yu (main leads) portrayed the characters of the story so passionately. You would feel the hurt and love between. It can be just my thought but this drama didn't seem like the typical bls you would find.

You would be missing a lot if you didn't watch this drama. XD.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED ITTT!!!!
asnehasingh-6727821 February 2022
I've been watching bl dramas for a very long time and after some time the plot becomes too predictable. There are very few movies/series that are able to give me butterflies and this was one of them. The direction and acting was absolutely fantastic. SamYu did such an amazing job to bring DeYi to life. There so much small details that make this series so amazing. All I would say that is to go and watch this masterpiece. You won't regret it💜💙

Pity acting followed by baaaad music, Great story though
benny-7283521 February 2021
Nice plot, but speaking from a Taiwanese's perspective, I feel that the Japanese character wasn't really necessary for this.

In fact, although he's fluent with Chinese, still not good enough to play a role whose character was set to be a child that lived in Taiwan for 10+years.

It's not just the accent, the way he couldn't speak his line impromptu and when he tried, he accidentally used filler words in awkward ways(not often, but pulls me out from the storytelling every single time)

One more flaw, the music, the audio clips. Seriously, you wouldn't want to hear the same mood expressing audio clips for every Taiwan series in your lifetime. Horrible, shabby, baaaad taste! And that's the same detriment of many Taiwanese directors for years, no one's bout to change that like music's no biggie in Taiwan drama. Ok

It was a 7 for me but since there's little BL series in east Asia, I grant you a 8😀

It was great

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the plot and story and the actors. I do think the second season was better for dramatics but the first was still great. It was in some ways cute and adorible and all in all it was easy to like.

Like the reason i started watching was the first season and the reason i continued watching was how the season ended. I would have probabaly disliked the story if it did not have a second season.

Season 1 is so great, it'll drive you crazy. Don't ruin it by watching season 2. Keep the best version in your mind
emilyruthburns30 October 2023
The first season was very good until the last episode. The chemistry and acting between the actors was good. The story was satisfying. But the last episode and a ridiculous ending. It was as if the story was started from the beginning because there was no new idea for season 2.

Season 1 was really good, you feel Shi De's obsessive love and Zhou Shu Yi's cool and charmingness to your bones. So much so that anyone would fall in love with Zhou Shu Yi. He's confident, selfish, friendly, cool and perfectly toxic. Him obsession with Shi De and his psychopathic desire to be near him the struggle made me watch the whole season in one fell swoop. Then the damn infamous last episode drives you crazy. Afterwards, no matter how perfect your explanation is (unless you are in a prison in Russia where communication is never allowed) it will never be acceptable.

And of course, the 2nd season was very bad, the characters still look like children after 5 years, and Zhou Shu Yi looks like a teenager in a suit 2 sizes bigger than himself. The story does not flow and meaningless scenes come one after another. An unnecessary character put in to be funny, 2 characters being in the same company at the same time, Shi De'ni's repulsive looks, Zhou Shu Yi is not attractive and cool at all... I'm going crazy but I'm angry.

I stopped watching season 2 after the abnormally illogical and stupid scene where Shi De suddenly appeared at Zhou Shu Yi's door just as he was entering his house.

Beautiful lovemaking or kissing scenes alone can never carry a bl drama. Always, always, always the main story (even if cliché) must make sense, the main plot must be able to carry the whole drama.

I didn't watch the sequel but i could swear that the beautiful scenes of season 1 were meaningless repetitions and none of them were passionate (oh isn't it always like that. See: Bad Buddy episode 7 and onwards)

Coercive romance is the worst trope
Emma-M-V23 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am three episodes in and now calling it quits. After the first episode I was hopeful about the show, but in episode two the love interest, Zhou Shu begins to blackmail Gao Shi to be his "servant" in order to spend time with him, and from there it is just downhill with the controlling behavior, forced submission fetish and just a generally creepily coercive relationship.

Maybe these elements will fade away from the relationship eventually, but honestly, somebody who is able to do such things is not a character I can ever forgive or root for. Red flag supreme. Get away as soon as you can Gao Shi!

Honestly, I am very disappointed, because this storyline of a person who always feels lesser than if they aren't winning having a rival who is in love with them sounds very fun and thematically fruitful. Nobody should base their self worth on being "the best" and you really don't need to compare yourself to others, especially not your loved ones, but I really doubt the show would be able to deliver any good arc for Gao Shi, since it seems far more interested in comedically justifying putting him in a subservient position to his love interest than in his own personal motivations and struggles.

Probably the best Taiwanese BL series
whatifperson12 April 2022
Story is realistic, authentic, no fluff. I'm only giving in 9 instead of 10 because it could use some development plot-wise.

Very well acted and portrays love and their relationship in a very relatable way. Not much of the silly, toxic and abusive relationships that you see in other series.

Too 5
xana-199683 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
On my top 5 BL series, although I didn't care much for the Pei Shou Yi/Yu Zhen Xuan storyline in season 2.

Spoilers .

. .

. .

. The scene in season 2 where Shi De breaks down, while drunk, in Shu Yi's apartment has got to be one of my favorite scenes. So well done, kudos to both, specially Sam. The desperation he felt, depicted by him sinking in the pool, screaming under water. Telling us how he's been suffocating all these years without his love ughhh. Really pulls at your heart's strings not to mention when accompanied by Eric Chou's 'Unbreakable love' in the background... So emotional. Love their story.

BEST CHEMISTRY FOR THE COUPLE. PERIOD.
aoki_ra12 November 2022
I've watched it many times and I never get tired of the two main leads. I'm not actually an avid BL fan. Nowadays, there are too many of them and they're losing their quality. But this one has natural essence. It might not be an original approach but the actors done it naturally. Highly recommended bl. One of the best of all times. Just watch it and you'll see! Even if you don't like bl, you can still enjoy. It's not like 30 episodes long. It's just about 6 episodes in each season. But I'll tell you it's pretty addictive. You'd even wished it'd be longer. I wish they make an additional season, seriously, I don't mind watching the two main leads for many seasons haha.

I'll be there for you, because you are there for me too..
remuse-astra17 December 2023
Binge completed this series for the love of Sam Lin and Yu Teng Yang. What a powerful performance of love, hate, betrayal and longing for each other. Nothing in the world can keep two souls apart when they know they are bonded by true love. Both S1 and S2 are classical, somewhere I missed seeing more romantic scenes between Shi-De Gao and Shu-Yi Zhou :)

I hated Shi-De Gao for what he did to Shu-Yi Zhou, but his love for Yi was just so much that it didn't stop him from coming back to Yi. I cried when Shi-De Gao comes to Yi's house and he is so painful that he can't break his promise, but yet can't not tell the truth to Yi. What a brilliant performance by Sam Lin in that scene. You can feel it in his performance and I cried along.

I have become a huge fan of Chih-Tian Shih who plays Zhen-Xuan Yu. What a great cast, i just couldn't get over it, i was just thinking about them the whole week, miss you guys!! Lots of love!!
