One time watch #its a movie for music

Movie with lots of heart warming songs but with a average storyline and left the acting remains fantabulous. This movie could be better if the story writer and director puts vision into the story line because the movie length is 1hr 59mins including credits in which 8 songs taking place inside the movie songs are upto the mark but story should also be considered with some extra twists nd turns so that it might become interesting.......honestly saying this seems to be the movie less music album more......Rating 6/10 5 stars for songs nd 1 star for Ammy Tanya that little bit chemistry thts all👍

Feel Good Musical Marvel

After long time, watched a movie with soulful music with good acting and social content... The only thing which can go towards the negatives is Limited Screen presence of Ammy Virk... But the Real Hero of the movie is it's Star Ladies and Music.

Decent job with acting by All.

Music 10⭐ Cast 8⭐(special applause for Taina movie by movie she is definitely evolving. Remember so many movies where she bearly watchable but in this great work but still sometime her voice feel childish or made up if we campare with leading actresses.) Story 5⭐ music was really good after a long time i heard pure generic treat with traditional flavours. Acting wise all done great as I don't have much expectations from many but guggu Gill and other legends done justice with role one person disappointed was ammy as well as story and character development was too poor great concept poor execution.

Still I feel movie was good not bad at all. One two time watchable because of music but many rate less than 5 was too bad. Movie deserve better specially music and feel.

In love with this movie. Legendary Music, the best I've heard in any film. The story and performances are top notch. Don't know why this film is being review-bombed here. It's a must watch, the best of 2022.

Magical, soulful music..

A period drama that is topped with an exemplary production details and a befitting cinematography. A story that pulls on your heartstrings. Convincing performances but somewhat cursory story-development. However, its music simply outshines and steals the show. It makes up for the rest. The folk songs recreate the era, define the characters and make the audience reminisce and relish the rich musical traditions of Punjab. The story is kind of a reminder of the Kaur sisters (Surinder and Prakash), the famous folk singers of Punjab during the post-independence era. Magical, soulful music is The essence of the movie and it makes the movie-watching an unforgettable experience. Fantastic job by Noor Chahal, Jyotica Tangri, Sanj V, Jaidev Kumar and the rest of the team for delivering such a melodious music. An excellent watch.

A tale of music in Punjab

This movie is really good. Taniyas expressions are fantastic.

I feel she should do more powerful confident roles or actually lead roles. She is not used at the full potential.

Ammy Virk did good acting as usual but his role is very limited.

This movie is not for small minded people.

Calm old predictable drama

*) K Reviews *) ( ( Even though everything seems predictable still this looks authentic. From the era they choose for the whole movie is displayed with utmost authenticity. The polite way of speaking with each other, your words value more than your life, it's a weakness in society to live on your daughter's earnings. All these issues are displayed and shown gracefully. Although the climax was a bit cliché and could be done more. Even though the actors are great but they could have given more screen-on-time to some of the veteran actors in the movie, so that it could have impacted more. No forceful CGI is highly appreciated. And this is a light hearted, with melodious music, one time watch movie.

What a cast, what a film, with the most beautiful songs and a fantastic plot! Everyone must watch this movie with their families. The history of how far women have progressed in their fight for social equality. The narrative of parents who wish to do something for their children but are unable to do so due to society. The story of Punjabi culture, customs, and values. The most magnificent account of Punjabi singing and music. Go watch this movie today in a theatre near you.

This is definitely an honest story, well made even & with several good songs. The performances too are commendable. Two sisters good at singing infact excellent in singing are trapped in a household who are opposed to them singing, for the sake of the honour of the family which again is dictated by the patriarchal male figure. Sure, the story is set in that era & the first half perfectly captures it. The sisters are allowed to sing anonymously but their popularity will lead to their names & photos being revealed which in turn pushes them further into the cage.

It is the second half which needed better writing atleast in the final act. It is here they resort to resolving the conflict easily by having a sub-plot involving a bed ridden child who exists solely to direct the plot to it's end. The plight of the sisters, especially Roop after her marriage simply was too much to be overcome by a miracle. Anyways, the performances are good enough followed by the soothing songs to make it at best a decent one time watch. I wish the second half had atleast tried matching the first half and it could have been a far better film, which it deserved to be.

What a musical miracle movie.after very long time movie with so sweet music.acting was very GOOD of all actors.

Cinematography is too good. But editing is not good. Story needs some more twists.

Every good music lover will definitely appreciate this movie.

Very boring movie songs after every 5 minutes. Ammy virks acting is very poor in the movie the story depicts past and the situation is no longer valid in present times . Overall very boring.

The film is good. The pace of the film is perfect. The music was legendary and really epic. If you are not into old fashioned film than try to avoid this one. I felt that ending could be a little bit better and be a little bit more bold. Overall a good film delivered by ammy Virk.

Different and very well scripted

Not a love story movie. Two girls struggling to sing. Movie has many songs since it is a music movie but all the songs are really sweet, soft, and well sung.all are period songs. Story line is really engaging and keeps audiance intact till the end. Loved the casting. Specially roop's Father's acting. Very well performed and directed. Ammy virk does not have much role but that was the requirement of the movie which is acceptable.

Ruined the content

The Jass Grewal cinema has its own charm, however, this movie fails to live up to it. The most negative part is the casting - only Guggu Gill and supporting characters do justice to their roles. Tania seems okayish. Ammy Virk does legit no acting in terms of emotions. Every dialogue of his is without any facial expressions and it's very dull and unnerving. I had loved Daana Paani written by Jass Grewal and directed by Tarnvir Singh Jagpal. Maybe as a director Jass Grewal isn't as good as the writer. Even for the story, it's nothing in comparison to Daana Paani or Rab da Radio. Had better expectations really. In general the film could have been improved simply by casting professional actors instead of singer-turned-actors. The only saving grace are the few Jaidev Kumar compositions.

Amazing movie

The movie is a masterpiece which is filled with great music and acting. Gaggu Gill, Ammy Virk and Tania did a great job in representing the Punjabi culture. The movie has a great message behind it and i would recommend everyone to watch it.

Good music, horrible acting and an ultra weak script. A dead girl's waking up through music, they called the husband the owner of his wife, I was appalled by how in general how backward it was. Such a flat, predictable story. I don't know who are these people giving this 10/10. First saunkan saunkane, sher bagga, now this - Ammy Virk has been really letting himself down these days. Man needs to work on his acting skills and need to come up with some modern and more relatable storylines. I probably like Noor Chahal the best, she was natural and overall likeable. A lot of the music is hers and her voice is angelic! However, if you can avoid this movie at all costs!

Beautiful movie, that unveils the real soul of Punjab and pays a touching tribute to it's eternally enriched culture & folk music. What an incredible dialog to end it ! Commendable on part of the makers to create a film like this in today's times.

A beautiful arthouse cinematic experience that delivers a slice of history from punjab and the barriers that had to be crossed for women to be allowed a freedom of expression. This is to Indian music what rhw suffragettes were to the female vote! Hats off!.

Star studded cast from days gone by and a modern era of acting. A musical like no other. This traverses modernism in punjab and historic relevance.

The music in its simplicity paves the way for future sounds.....

A must watch. Different concept. You would glue to the screen for 2 hours straight. If your love music, its for you. If you aren't that into music, you will fall for music.

Smooth transition, background sound, natural acting, issues, everything is perfect. Ending could be more better because I did not realize when it ended, I wanted it to go on and on...

This is one of the excellent writing and directed movies of Punjabi cinema. I could feel my soul connecting to the character, place, storyline and the portrayal of the characters. I wish more movie are made like this one. Its more than music and beautiful cultural aspect of Punjabi visra. I am amazed at how simple it seemed yet how detailed the acts were. A big appreciation to the whole team. Please keep making heartwarming movies.
