Great "Behind the Scenes" episode
Zhow27 February 2021
I don't know why this episode is rated so low. I found it very refreshing to see the process of the production and how the queens got prepared. The pandemic plays a major part in this documentary yet it also shows how the contestants try to find the best ways to get through during the process of being selected to RPDR. It's nice to go away from the manufactured drama and watch the queens talk as normal people about their experiences. Can't people wait for 2 weeks until the next episode, even if the next episode is Snatch Game (which is a way overrated episodes throughout all seasons anyway)? I watched this episode like the deleted scenes you can see on YouTube where queens talk about their lives as performers and the specificities of their art depending on where they come from or what references they have. I don't know what the community of fans expect today but if the rate of this episode reflects their expectations, I'm not surprised that the producers continue to "spice up" fake drama to keep their audience "entertained" at the expense of interesting discussions between the contestants.

You Can Skip It

Ru: "You know what this season needs more of?" Production: "Filler."

I assume the reason they aired this "special" is to stretch out the airing so they can have a live finale, but I don't think that will be happening.

I would also like to clarify; I've been a harsh critic of this season, not because I don't think the queens are talented, but because I'm tired of production treating seasoned entertainers like novices. Instead of allowing the queens to showcase their talent/style in an authentic way, Ru and the judges expect all of them to conform to a singular view of drag.

I apologize for the rambling and not even touching on this episode, but I wanted to say my peace. I'll always be happy and grateful to see queer artists being celebrated on national television, but my frustrations with this show has grown in recent years.

Without the judges broadening their scope of what "drag" is, the show will only be an example of what Ru deems as acceptable. Currently, this show has an expiration date and without a serious refresh, it will always be a shell of what it once was.

Wonderful behind the scenes look!

It's true, this episode doesn't show any performances. What it does show it an amazing look into filming during the pandemic. This doc-Ru-mentary is not to be missed!

Why so low?
SeattleBadger27 February 2021
This episode is currently rated 5.3 and I feel like the reason people rated it so low is because they decided to air it before everyone's favorite episode: Snatch Game. People were disappointed that they had to wait another week til a new episode. I enjoyed it and found the safety measures interesting but people probably would have enjoyed it more if it was aired with the finale.

Showing the show precautions during a time of planetary crisis. I really do not understand the bad rating...
