Nice to see the re-creation of so many little things so many of us have had to endure this past year. April 2020 especially was when lockdown was new and people were making this effort. Nice touch adding the healthcare worker neighborhood applause. Plus, you get the Dad from Wonder Years mixed in with the usual fun wit, humor and action.

I liked that they did not gloss over the pandemic. It was fun to watch really. Other shows pretend the pandemic never happened, this show did not. I liked it. They are human like us, as well.

Excellent episode

Hey I'm from the UK and I've just seen this episode. I think it's excellent. There are a lot of people trashing it because it features the current COVID situation and they fan boy Fauci by singing a song about him. I reckon it's only natural that a show about intelligent people using science to get out of impossible situations would mention COVID and mention one of America's top scientists. I reckon a lot of these people trashing it are Trump supporters. He didn't exactly help matters did he.

You started season five with the whole pandemic and codex thing dealt with and now they give a pandemic episode and it ends with riley still not telling mac the truth even though she and boz living together and desi being with her family. #savemacgyver.

There was so much cringe in this episode. They had a freaking song about Dr Fauci, Mr. flip flop. I'm surprised they weren't making tik tok videos during this episode.

Stupid mask episode

So why now is there a stupid mask episode? Only been 10 months now. Was enjoying the season to focus on something not Covid related but this episode ruined that.

Doesn't fit

I don't understand the point of this episode or how it fits into the series.

It was like "we need to address Covid and show how woke we are" but then all following episodes proceed as normal.

You opened the door by bringing Covid into the story line/MacGyver universe and then acted as though it didn't exist. Shouldn't each subsequent episode now have them all wearing masks, social distancing, listening to Fauci, not travelling etc.?

It just shows that this is yet another show that no longer cares about writing good story lines (or as good as they were) but rather is out just to deliver it's political and ideological message.

The once good show is losing direction/its moral compass

Darn, despite the many negative reviews I was such a fan of the show at the beginning, because they tried to be fair, but with all the hate Hollywood is trying to raise recently, the makers seem to have been swallowed by that completely. And I am not only talking about the newly raised discrimination of Europeans. I am not sure what to think of the highly racist/discriminating practice of making Superman black and casting by quota, since in my opinion this does not help any side. I am all for diversity but not by taking beloved characters and legends away from one group and giving it to another and thereby forbidding them to have their own. But, alright, MacGyver (and Hollywood in general) largely eliminates white characters and introduces one character of color after the next, well, okay I guess (I wouldn't want to be cast by quota/skin color, but okay), but what is not okay at all is that all the movies and shows start treating blonde women like lepers. MacGyver sacked or even killed the positive blonde characters and there are only sporadic and short appearances of blonde characters now who are all at least dubious if not even downright evil. Just because ill-willing people envy blonde women does not mean Hollywood has to indulge this hateful, depraved feeling. I do remember the movie Perdita Durango, I watched it because I loved Rosie Perez - and was shocked that she starred in a movie where blonde kids are kidnapped and tortured just out of jealousy and hate, but at least I thought, it was just fiction. Now Hollywood seems to want or at least hazard that there will be unjustified mad attacks against blonde women in real life (not that there haven't been any already - yes, out of jealousy, by people of color, just facts) just because this is the image that Hollywood conveys, that it is okay to hate and discriminate against blonde women (Not all lives matter)! Madness and not a bit better than any other discrimination/injustice. If you want to reach equality and lessen the envy, Hollywood would have to cast a lot more "fat" old women, this is a group that needs support, but we will never see Hollywood do this!!! A shame.

Worst or funniest show ever

Wow. Up until now I have been liking the remake. Not great but a decent update. But this particular episode was so bad. From praising the proven liar and botch king, Fraud-ci, to really, really overdoing it on all the wrong things to do. They actually had MacGyver try to write a song about the idiot who tried to ruin the country. He already ruined the education of millions of children and made them more scared of their shadows so let's try to wipe out the country. But it takes place in California, what do you expect. They do everything backwards and wrong. It started out dumb and just got dumber as it went along. There's only a few episodes left of this show but it will be hard to bounce back from this idiocy.

Who wants masks?

Ignoring the pandemic for me it was an average episode. Seen better and worse. There were funny quotes here and there, like Mac saying before the show's environment switched into Social Distancing "I can feel it. 2020 going to be awesome". Glad he had to get down to his feet later, finding himself and others quarantined.

But may viewers don't want to see masks in Hollywood (or Canada in this case where MacGyver is filmed). They see bad news of raising COVID-19 cases on the daily news, might hear of friends and relatives who have to deal with that. Thus Hollywood productions many pay for on streaming services shall be a distraction from what's going on in the real world. When masks and COVID related stories take over Hollywood the last island to clear one's mind has gone.

I am aware though that regulations around the virus also apply for the movie industry. I wished there was another way around this.
