The future Tsar Alexander asks Sisi if she was Russian. In real life Alexander had very little Russian ancestry, being mostly of Germanic stock. Even Maria his wife was German.

Goofs
There are two pairs of sunglasses. Maximilian wears a steel-rimmed pair that could have existed at the time, but the one Elisabeth wears has frames in plastic which did not exist at the time at all.

portraits

The simple problem of series is the portraits of characters. In this episode - the young Alexander II , reduced to a very easy sketch. And, sure, the so far by reality image of Maximilian von Habsburg.

It is not the only sin and, admitting than it is not a docu-drama , it is not very fair to reduce everything to fantasy and at a childish manicheic picture.

Yes, beautiful actors and romance , a severe mother in law and a kinky brother in law . And the game around the Crimean war.

But the feeling is to be only a frame/ pretext for free imagination. Leontina Apafi is the good example in this sense.

In short, not the most inspired series. Unfortunatelly , because the potential of story is just magnificent.
