- The team is sent to investigate the disappearance of a teenage boy, Wyatt.
- David and Father Mulvehill are finally performing Leland's exorcism. During the exorcism, the latter makes a funny face to David, suggesting that he does not really believe in it. On the next scene, when asking how is he going, the Father explains to him that selling the soul to Satan is not an easy job to recover from. After making a new appointment in a month and giving him spiritual guidance with David, to what the priest is not very convinced, the session is nearly over. At that point, David receives a message from Ben, and then we are with Kristen and the latter doing the first interview with the people they want to help on a new case.
A year has passed since Wyatt, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer, has disappeared. They contacted the police, but they keep telling the couple that he is probably gone, not missing or kidnapped, but just runaway. Mr. Sawyer adds that someone contacted them screaming the next day of his disappearance, but according to him, although it seemed like him, it was not. On the other hand, between the screams and interferences, Mrs. Sawyer thinks the child said, "Save me". After informing them that they do not do police cases, but spiritual or demonic related ones, Mr. Sawyer takes them to the child's room. He lifts a big rug, and they see a big black pentagram drawn on the floor. At that precise moment, David enters the room. Mr. Sawyer continuous to explain that they think that all of that is related to the people who kidnapped Wyatt; Satan worshipers, maybe. After Ben asks access to his computer, Mr. Sawyer explains that they have found a carved word and numbers on his desk, but after trying everything, they could not decipher his son's password.
Once at home, Kristen tries to perform an Internet search of the carved word: "El Game"-as in "The Game"-, but she can not decipher the numbers under: "8-4-2-13-1". When the girls arrive from school, they tell her that it is probably the Japanese "Elevator Game" that allows the people who performs it arriving in hell, and the numbers under "El Game" are the numbers you have to press on the elevator in order to play it. Then the girls show her mother a video that explains everything: you need a building with at least thirteen floors and an empty elevator. You enter the elevator alone and then press the fourth floor. Once you arrive you do not need to do anything yet, but before the elevator's doors close at all, you must stop them using your arm. Then you are required to press the second floor and once you get there, again, do not leave the elevator, but press the thirteen and the emergency call button. The elevator will arrive to the thirteen floor and then a strange woman will get on. It is extremely important to not meet her eyes at all, if you do this you will be never be able to leave hell. Instead, you have to press the first floor button, at this moment, you will hear an alarm, and then you will arrive to the nether region. A dark place with a red cross in the distance. You can leave the elevator now and explore around, but you must not stay there more than twelve minutes, or you will be hunted by the souls of people who died in the building. The video ends with a significant explanation; if you ever get to be haunted, draw a pentagram somewhere.
At this point, while the girls are talking about doing the game, Kristen talks to Ben by phone and together with three of the girls they go to the building where Wyatt disappeared. They see footage of the kid entering the elevator alone, but never coming out of it. The next scene is Leland and David in the counselor appointment, so the first do not deviate from the good way. After giving him a rosary and a Joyful Mystery, they have a conversation about African Americans being a minority in the Church, and they end the session.
We are now with Kristen, Ben, and the girls, who start "playing" the "Elevator Game". They do all the steps but when they want to press the thirteen floor they realize that, due to the superstition in the USA, there is no such floor, so they do not complete the steps properly. They end in the low level, where they started. When they start leaving the building, a girl speaks to them saying that the game works, and they should not do it. She then explains to them that Felicia, the girlfriend of Wyatt, did the game, but to feel safe she spoke to the girl by phone the whole process. When she lets them hear the recording of that day nothing happens until she wants to press the thirteen floor, nonexistent, so she came with an idea but due to the bad reception they can not understand what she did. After seconds of total silence, they heard a terrifying scream from her, and then the call stops. While Kristen rushes home with the girls, Ben calls Vanessa, who may help.
Now we assist to a course where the priests study how to give a mess. At the end, David meets there another African American priest, Kevin, who invites him to a party. The scene cuts to Ben, who receives Vanessa in his home. After tell her about the Elevator Game, she takes Ben on a ghost tour. In front of the building of the game, the host comments that in that precise building, a little girl got stuck in the elevator and split into two. Since then, people in the building can hear her crawling in the hall. Ben tells the others the story in Kristen's home and that they need to complete the game in order to not get haunted although, since there is no thirteen floor, they do not know what to do.
After having a conversation with her mother about staying in her office, so she can be close in case of an emergency the days she is staying late, Kristen goes to the building alone. She presses the fourteen floor-no thirteen-and when she passes the twelve she stops the elevator in between the aforementioned floor and the fourteen-again, no thirteen floor, so technically it will be the thirteen-. Next, after a little thinking, she presses "door open" instead of the first floor. Doors open but because she stopped the elevator before arriving to the fourteen, the upper part of the elevator is hidden, so there is a gap if you want to get out the elevator on the twelve floor. She gets in their knees and starts looking around, and she sees something at the end of the hall, some white figure that seems to be approaching her slowly. She gets frightened-not sure if it is another of her hallucinations-and presses "door close" but the doors remain open. Then, she looks again at the figure who is closer and closer; at the exact moment she sees what it seems to be a torso crawling with their hands on the floor, she screams in panic and the elevator goes up trapping her neck on the upper part of the elevator. Not being able to move, she asks for help trying to reach a red button as the girl has made full appearance-the girl who is supposed to be dead on the elevator-. When she looks again where the girl is supposed to be, she sees a trail of blood but no sing of her. Seconds after, the girl looks out the door where Kristen is trapped. She finally presses the red button and then the elevator drops until there is no gap on the twelve floor and the girl disappears. She gets out of the building, calling Kurt-her doctor-and complaining about the medication to stop hallucinations that it seems to be causing more.
At the party, David arrives with beer, and later he has another discussion about racism and the Catholic Church with another African American that ends with David punch him in the face, and then he leaves the party. While he is in the party, Ben and Kristen are talking with the Ghost Tour's host and speaking about the fact that there is no thirteen floor. After the party, David goes to speak with a Father about a racism's homily. While the Father is not convinced, David wants to give it as a God's message for peace. While this discussion Ben goes alone to the building and at the moment when he has to press the thirteen button he realizes that instead both Wyatt and Felicia pressed one and three, thirteen, and the call button. The elevator closes its doors and start going down, when he arrives to the first floor it is still going down, the numbers turn to two zeros, the lights go off for seconds and next they turn on again. At that precise moment, the doors open. He does not see a cross at the end of the place, as the video said. Insted he arrives to a sort of big chamber with arches all over the place and slightly illuminated, not pitch dark as the video said. He starts exploring the place around with his phone flashlight, and he gets deeper and deeper, when the elevator doors get close he turns back, but he does not seem to care. Screaming "Hello" he arrives to a little mound where he sees what it seems to be Felicia lying on the mound facing opposite of Ben direction. When he approaches her to turn her, he finds both kids'-Wyatt and Felicia-skeletons and full of bugs. He runs in panic to the elevator, but when he arrives to the doors the call button is hanging, he tries to fix it and presses it several times without success. Then he desperately tries to open the doors but because he can not, he gives up and the big chamber with Ben at the end is shown before we assist to the homily of David the next day.
When David finishes his homily about race, Kristen, who is there, approaches him and congratulates him. Leland, who is there too, approaches them and also congratulates him. As Leland is leaving, Kristen's phone rings, it is Ben but due to the bad reception she can not hear anything. Both David and Kristen realize that he probably went to end the Elevator Game, as last night it was the last time Kristen saw Ben, in the building discussing the game. Inside the chamber, Ben is finishing talking to Kristen, and when he finishes, he makes his assumption: Wyatt died first a month before Felicia came to the chamber, but because Felicia did not know about the broken call button she did not hold the doors. She held Wyatt for another month as she starved, and then she died. At the exact moment he ends with his assumptions, the demon female he has been seeing makes an appearance, and he runs to the elevator doors. He stands there while the demon talks to him in a foreign language which Ben knows and comes back to a mound and lies there. The next scene is Kristen with the phone, hearing Felicia's recording. David, who is there too, and her try to figure out what could have possibly Ben do. In the chamber, Ben is writing text messages to his loved ones while the demon is talking to him. When he ends writing, he lies back, accepting his destiny while the demon keeps talking. Seconds later the elevator doors open illuminating the mound where Ben is, as David leaves the elevator Ben screams in panic "Keep the elevator open!" He runs inside and Kristen starts to hold him while he starts to cry. He sees the demon inside the elevator too. The episode concludes with the closing of the doors, with the female demon still inside the elevator and the camera getting further and further from the doors until the screen is pitch black.
