It was obviously the same, idk why people are surprised
danielacanelaaa27 June 2022
To be brief, i think the acting on the korean one was better, also they didnt drag the plot as much as the spanish one (spanish series tend to do that). I wasnt really a fan of the original one to begin with so this version seems just as okay to me. If you are planning on watching it just know is the exact thing with better acting, in my opinion. I dont think it deserves a rating as low as 1, it cant be worse if its the same.

If you like the original you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!
moneyburn-0842524 June 2022
The story is more rushed, the acting is way worse and the overall vibe is just off. I gave it a chance but this is a poor man's version. Trying to copy a masterpiece especially so recently rarely works out. If you haven't seen the original don't watch this go watch that. If you've seen the original you'll be bored of this before the first episode ends. HARD PASS.

What was the point ?
I mean it is an exact copy of the season 1 of the original Money Heist. Denver laugh is also copied, so just one question what was the point of this remake.

Stop comparing it to the original
laurynl22 August 2022
To give a show a 1 star rating just because it's similar to the original show is petty and ridiculous. The show is its own. It's good, it's well-acted, the SFX are great. If you haven't seen the Spanish version, or if you're not the type to hold insane standards for recreations, give the show a shot.

Come on, It's better than a 5, more like a 6.5 and only because it's a remake
dannypark24724 June 2022
The biggest negative is the fact that people know this is a remake. You can't get it out of your mind. The first episode isn't great. But, actually I finished the series because it was entertaining until the end. And I almost never finish a series. I think if it was more self aware, for example, maybe they were aware of the other Money Heist and literally copied it as a movement or something then it would have played out better.

Same as the original
cannabinosa24 June 2022
A bad show, now in korean edition. It should have been an original story inspired by the events of the previous one, but it Just was like a hollywood generic remake without a soul.

Is it better than the original?
mikkiparker25 June 2022
As someone who watched and loved the original Money Heist (La Casa De Papel), this review will be based on both similarities and differences between the two.

The beginning of the series, Tokyo's backstory, is captivating and original yet takes elements from the Spanish (og) version. It was nice to see the screenwriters take on a more Korean style while sticking to the original story. It was fast-paced and not much of the story before the heist was shown which was slightly different from the original series but it's understandable considering the writers tried to squeeze as much of the original story for the first heist in 12 episodes (as the original version had 23 episodes meant for the first heist).

I do wish the remake showed a more original and unique approach as the show was mostly very similar to identical to the original.

The acting was, in my honest opinion, average. There were moments and actors that I adored like Park Hae Soo as Berlin or Lee Joo Bin as Yun Mi Seon (OG Monica/Stockholm) and her chemistry with Kim Hi Joon aka Denver. However, the acting didn't exceed my expectations. I still enjoyed the first half of the show that aired so far.

The cinematography and directing style was something that I truly enjoyed. The shots weren't necessarily long (most of the time) and the brightness and coloring of the show were pretty to watch.

In the end, I will say that the original version is better than this remake but it still is enjoyable to watch.

Watch this as a new show not a remake of original
amirbehdad-5794616 December 2022
So if you watch this show as a new one it's a really cool show and it can make you busy, but if you start comparing every moment with the original show you're just wasting your time. I personally enjoyed it.

Cast played really well, you can actually make a connection with cast Denver, Moscow, Berlin and especially Tokyo did awesome at this show, some scenes are different from the original.

If you don't have any show to watch or you're just bored I actually recommend it. It's pretty dumb when people give it 1 because it's similar with original. I mean it's just a remake. You should just enjoy it and the amazing cast gave me that joy.

Complete waste of time and effort
paulyew-4512525 June 2022
Wow, what a disappointment. I'd eagerly waited for this show, hoping a Korean version would offer a new twist to the basic premise of the original show. For anyone who has seen the original show, there is absolutely nothing this version offers. In summary,

Pros: 1) Familiar faces: Negotiator (from Lost), professor (from Old boy), Berlin (from Squid Game), Tokyo (from Burning), and mint director (dungeon guy from Parasite) 2) South Korea, North Korea dynamics: The South and North set up created natural conflict and dynamics.

Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE.

For non-Korean speaking audience, they won't catch the poorly executed regional accents. There are some cringe worthy acting and plot holes, which also plagued the original show. In conclusion, just a very lazy effort.

a downgraded remake of the original
lisbon5524 June 2022
I knew it was hard not to compare it with the original while watching it, and was ultra aware not to set too high an expectation . But the story is like a direct replicate of everything, just of lower budget. I'd rather choose to watch the original series again just for the much more beautiful actors and the originality. The same applies even if i were Korean, means i'd rather watch the original again with Korean dubbing.

This wasn't a copy-paste, they really put their own twist into it
gqnzztqhw17 December 2022
Really enjoyed this show! It can't be compared to the original, they're both good in their own way! It has really good visual effects, playing with timelines as to create plot twists, and incorporated a lot of Korean politics surrounding the north and south which I found to be really interesting. The acting is excellent, they really go all in with showing emotions and expressing themselves. The fight scenes are superb. Also, they made Berlin much more digestible than the Spanish Berlin, couldn't stand that guy lol. I'd say this version has more action than the Spanish version, but again, they're both good in their own unique way.

Berlin and Denver saved this show
darlingiota4 July 2022
If you watched without seeing the original, I'm pretty sure you'll like this, as it has some entertaining elements that are quite impactful. BUT, if you've seen the original ver, then this Korean ver is just VERY VERY BIG NO. I finally understand why there are so many negative comments here.

The original is very solid. Money Heist was made for audiences to sympathize with the robbers, the bad guys, and they succeeded because of the fun and touching inner bond of the characters. While the Korean there is no inner bond at all. They're just robbers with emotional roller coaster and love line. They're not comrades. The character is not alive. They're just actors who are acting.

I don't know why Tokyo looks more annoying here. Rio was weaker than the original. Nairobi is more ruthless and domineering. And the Professor looks like a sociopath rather than an introvert like El Professor. The only ones I like are Berlin and Denver. They look the same but are actually VERY DIFFERENT from the original. Thats how Berlin and Denver characters saved this show.

This is a humiliation of Korean drama reputation and originality
mooney1442425 June 2022
I tried to convince myself to watch through the first three episodes, and I cannot stand it anymore for tolerating the whole story play being copied without making any effort to generate somehow a different creativity. I suggest Spain producer team shall suit the Korean team for every penny!

What a shame for these Koreans since they got such a prosperity of reputation in TV soap industry for such a long time.

Ctrl C + Ctrl V? Do you even know the meaning of Remake? Also so called "The original" is NOT even original either.
ludwig-9000910 December 2022
I came here to check the cast, but ended up signing up IMDB to leave my review because there are so many ridiculous negative reviews here. What I don't really get the most is that those reviews saying that this show is the exact copy of the original Money Heist, 2017. Do you even know the meaning of "Remake"? Of course it has to be the same as the original script. Furthermore, if this korean remake made some changes instead of adopting the original, I guarantee 100% there will be another group of people who will leave negative reviews because it's not the same as the original. The most ridiculous reviews among those negative reviews are the ones claiming how original the Money Heist is. The plot and the characters in Money Heist are adapted or "copied" a lot from Hollywood heist movies. Nothing in Money Heist is by any means "new" or "original".

I started watching this korean remake because I was wondering how they adopted some of the things in the original show, and I ended up watching it all. Overall, it wasn't that bad. I mostly enjoyed he different aspect of the same show. So I highly doubt those who left negative reviews actually watched the show. I think they only watched the reactions of the show from youtube.

It's a remake or a version so why everyone mad ?
rdkc25 June 2022
What the hell with the low rating ? It's a remake series so it's basically copy paste movie with different actor, time and languange. So what you guys expect? Please be fair here, you guys not enjoyed watching this ? I can't lie, compare to the original, they doesn't gave enough vibe as the original but this is pretty good remake. If someone who doesn't watch la casa de papel, they'll pretty much enjoy this series as much as we enjoy the original one. They're not 100% copy, they add some fiction location, local cultures and local social critics in there. It's not that bad.

Comparatively worse
rainsonchoco7 July 2022
As a fan of the original Money heist, I am really sorry to say this show is comparatively worse. The acting, the dialogue, the facial expressions are way off and doesn't give any emotional attachment to us viewers.

What made Money heist successful was not the tactics or the practicality of the heist. We all know it was for the sake of entertainment. The reason Money heist was successful was because it was able to make the viewers feel like they were part of the heist. We all got emotionally attached! We all became a member of the heist. The facial expression of the professor, the sweating, the heavy breathings, the tone of the voice.... The calmness of berlin, it all adds up to make us feel like we were in the heist itself.

WHILLEEEE for this version, everything falls apart. It was bland and plain :(

It's a decent show for people who didn't watch the original
Snownoise28 June 2022
I didn't watch the original Money Heist because of the same old plot or typical theme of heist movies; a brainiac forming a ragtag team of people to steal the money from a rich. There will be love, betrayal, and plot twist. I felt like I had already watched the show. However, the only reason I watched this show is because it's kdrama, expecting something korean. I didn't expect anything plot-wise.

Half way through I like it so far. It's a very fast paced korean show which makes me surprised a lot because korean dramas (and korean movies too) usually have a lot of drag moments, but not in this one.

The show is really not that bad. People just leave the negative reviews because this show is simply a remake. Have any remakes or reboots received good reviews ever? No, never. People won't have that.

No effort on screenplay
adityapravin24 June 2022
There is no effort to even bring some originality to it.

I have watched the orignal so I will say this it's better to see that or if you have watched it to watch that rather than this version it takes all the magic away this version.

Though this would be a different storyline same mint same Berlin same professor same Tokyo same Arturo nothing is different except their names and the city it's short in.

Just one question why remake?
akkid9724 June 2022
Looks like B grade low budget remake trying to achieve Global fame. If you wanted to remake you just have to remake in Korean language only, why to remake in other languages,we already seen the original.

This wasn't a great idea. It's much better to watch the original show.
Perspicuity11 November 2022
I was actually quite intrigued to see what they do with this show, but after watching it I have come to the conclusion that remakes are perhaps a bad idea, especially of a series that came out recently and achieved popularity on a global scale. 'La Casa De Papel' is a Spanish show, Indians had to understand it with the help of subtitles and yet we all loved it. So I don't get why people of Korea wouldn't have loved the original show if it was released there as it is. Netflix recently tasted success with two shows, one from Spain and the other from South Korea; so they decided to milk that success by remaking the popular Spanish show in Korean language, but it was a bad plan. There are so many original stories floating around in South Korea, so instead of putting some spotlight on that, why are they forcing them to recreate a show from another country?

WHAT'S GOOD :

1. The main storyline of the two shows is the same, and since it was a really good one, so it's quite obvious one would find it engaging here as well. 'La Casa De Papel' had some amazing twists in it's screenplay and all of them exist in this version as well and as a viewer you get a lot of enjoyment when it happens.

2. Kim Yun-Jin was a good casting choice to portray the female investigating officer. She embodied all the characteristics envisioned by the creators while creating Raquel Murillo for the original show, but portrayed it in her own style; not for once did it feel like she was trying to act like Itziar Ituno. Kim Yun-Jin was equally convincing in the parts she had to act sensuous and the parts in which she had to act tough or the scenes where she had to portray a helpless daughter.

3. Park Myung-Hoon was perfectly cast as the director of Mint. He was exactly the kind of jerk that Arturo Roman was in 'La Casa De Papel' and once again the actor did not try to imitate his Spanish counterpart; his depiction was one hundred percent original.

WHAT'S NOT SO GOOD :

1. The casting of this show is a big problem. In the original show, Berlin was supposed to be cool as a cucumber but also look menacing, and Pedro Alonso did that quite successfully, but in this show Park Hae-Soo just couldn't do that. It felt like Park Hae-Soo was forcing himself to act like Pedro Alonso, but unfortunately he was failing miserably at his job. Jeon Jong-Seo as Tokyo kept a straight face for the most part to look serious, but she never came across as intimidating or dominating at any point. Every time Jeon Jong-Seo smiled, she looked like the sweetest girl in the world; I am quite sure that's not what people thought about Ursula Corbero's portrayal of Tokyo in the original show. Ursula smiled a lot in the original show, but it always felt like she's going to eat you out alive; she really felt like a dangerous woman to hang out with. Quite clearly, Jeon Jong-Seo wasn't cut out for this role.

2. Actors not being given new characteristic traits was a major problem. All the characters were trying to emulate their Spanish counterpart. Why weren't characters shaped in a way that felt natural, original and routed in Korean culture? Why was Kim Ji-Hoon, playing Denver, laughing like Jaime Lorente? It felt forced and looked bad.

3. The character of Nairobi became totally irrelevant in the Korean version. Alba Flores received a lot of love for her portrayal of Nairobi, a thief with a conscience; she had some of the most entertaining scenes in the original show, but the Korean show decided to reduce her to a background character; budget cuts perhaps?

4. 'La Casa De Papel', the original show came out recently, so it's still fresh in my mind, and I remember almost everything, so it felt a little strange watching the same thing in Korean this time. Maybe someone who hasn't seen the original might have felt differently, but to me it didn't really come across as riveting content. First of all, remakes should not be done, it's better to create an original story; but if you still want to do it then you must go for some very old story, that perhaps did not reach a lot of people.

5. 'La Casa De Papel' had some great music throughout the series, but unfortunately that was not the case with this show. On a few occasions, the composer did produce some edgy music, but generally speaking the music of the show was extremely below par.

6. 'La Casa De Papel' went all out with the sex scenes, they were not scared of showing nudity onscreen or offending anyone; but the creators of 'Money Heist Korea' were not bold enough, so they took a step back, and showed people having sex with their clothes on. In 'La Casa De Papel', the whole love making sequence between Monica and Denver was quite exciting to watch, with Denver even showing Monica his dancing skills; but the creators of this show could not produce something that would match up to that.

The Korean version would be more enjoyable for those who haven't seen the Spanish version, but I would still urge everyone to watch the original show instead; it's way better as compared to this. South Korean filmmakers are more than capable of creating hard hitting original shows and I think if Netflix wants to enter that market, then they should lend their support to some fresh and original storylines.

dvdandre29 June 2022
Why watch this?? It's exactly the same as the original... even the city names are the same!!?? There is nothing new at all with this show.

It's not a REMAKE- nothing was remade. It's a copy. You're not going watch it if you liked the original.
