I'm excited
AfricanBro18 December 2022
After S2 I was way more than excited as to where the show was heading especially following that bone chilling speech by Asriel. It feels more than just fantasy show at times, integrating religion into it, several concepts it has feel similar/relevant on that end about how the world works. I really love hearing the angels narrate their side of the story. When it started it we followed characters who seemed to just live in this small bubble but as season 3's underway the stakes could not be higher, small characters who're thrown into the grand scheme of themes.

I heard s3 is the conclusion to the series and if it ends on a high, I think it'll be one of the most complete tv series with no dips. It takes its time to reach the climactic points in the seasons, I hope it'll make the wait worth it because it took time to build up to the grand finale.

It has amazing world building, there's a completely different fantasy worlds, then there's one that's similar to ours and it blends the two. We also view it from the characters of the fantasy world's point of view which I liked. The characters and actors playing them are great. I hope we get to see more of the characters, some of them remain mysterious like asriel through the first two seasons and a dedicated episode on him was canceled due to Covid. A little more depth would make this even better because they are layered.

I do think it's not as complex as it could have been at times, but all in all a pretty good fantasy show. M I think it's best quality is despite already being good each season seems to be getting better especially the finales which is why I'm looking forward to the conclusion of His Dark Materials.

funny, but...

I'm the guy who usually tells people who say, 'it wasn't like the book', that the book and the movie(or in this case, the series) are 'two different things'...writing this, this seems obvious, but...i guess what i'm trying to say is that i don't mind changes that are made as long as they're as good or, at those rare instances, BETter than the source material... i am reading the book in tandem with watching the series...some of the changes made really don't make much of a difference...but some of the changes made in THIS episode were so deleterious to the potential power of the story that i felt i needed to comment on it here... what bothers me most about this is how easily, without much added expense OR time taken, it COULD have been done the way it is in the book...i'm not into spoilers, so i won't comment on specifics...but...if you like the series then get copies of the books and read them...you'll be so much more satisfied...

Fixing the Knife
claudio_carvalho9 April 2023
Lyra wants to go to the Land of the Dead to seek out George, but Will intends to return to Lord Asriel with the broken knife. However, Lyra convinces him to ask Iorek Byrnison to fix the knife and decide later where to go. Meanwhile, Asriel convinces Ogunwe, Ruta Skadi and Commander Roke to judge with him whether the imprisoned Mrs. Coulter is trustworthy and deserves to be released and join them in their crusade or not. They accept to release her but soon they learn that she has lied to them all.

"The Intention Craft" is an episode of "His Dark Materials" where the most important parts are Iorek fixing Will's knife and the betrayal of Mrs. Coulter to Asriel and his leaders. The story is becoming repetitive and no longer attractive as in the First (mainly) and Second Seasons. My vote is six.

The Intention Craft

Warning: Spoilers
The knife was destroyed because Will's mind was conflicted. Luckily Will and Lyra find Iorek who knows how the subtle knife can be reforged.

As for Lord Asriel he seems to be reluctant to come and save his daughter. He just finds it unbelievable that his and Mrs Coulter's offspring is some kind of saviour.

Lord Asriel is now holding Mrs Coulter and knowing she cannot be trusted. He really should have kept a closer eye on her.

The episode does not paint Asriel has heroic. Maybe Lord Asriel and Mrs Coulter are both sides of the same coin.

Mrs Coulter has done some bad things while working for the Magisterium. Asriel wants to take down organised religion and damn the consequences.
