The Caravan

UPDATE: The original incarnation of the Tropicana, seen here, held the oldest (1957) still-operating hotel rooms on the Las Vegas strip when they were permanently shut down in Nov., 2023. The rest of the complex is slated to close in Spring '24 before eventual demolition to make room for the A's baseball stadium. The Flamingo is also glimpsed and is still open in 2024, but none of the structures seen in this show remain. Before the Tropicana, the Riviera held the record for the oldest rooms on the strip, in the original 1955 building (shown) where the Stones overnighted. It closed in 2015 and was demolished the following year. Very little is now left of the Rat Pack era in Vegas, but this DRS episode was a great travelogue of that exciting time.
