And so we arrive at the penultimate episode of the series, just as the Robinsons themselves finally arrive at Alpha Centauri. The re-establishment of the rest of the wider cast, including a couple we've not seen in quite a while comes with a return for one or two bits of questionable logic, though it doesn't totally derail the episode.
Anticipating a race to inform the colony of SAR's impending arrival, the family are confused to arrive with seemingly no sign of the robots. As Will (Maxwell Jenkins) goes for emergency surgery the rest of the family look to establish any defences they can muster. When the Robot (Brian Steele) seemingly goes off on his own, Penny (Mina Sundwall), Judy (Taylor Russell) and Don (Ignacio Serricchio) track him to the nearby dam that provides most of the power to the small community.
Finally arriving at the colony gives us the first element of the episode that didn't ring true to me. I get that the Robinsons are used to being in control, but they literally walk into to this established community and, within their first 10 minutes, just take over. The arrival at the colony gives us a chance to see a couple of old characters again. Ben Adler, played by JJ Feild is show in flashback and we get a nice moment when Will gets to tell his family that he was a hero, which to my recollection is a bit selective, but it's at least true of his demise. We also get to see Hastings again, played by Douglas Hodge, who is imprisoned on Alpha Centauri for trying to abandon the rest of the colonists and is no less conniving than he was previously.
My other issue with the episode, trying to keep it spoiler free, was the reaction to what happens to the other robots - they act as if they'll definitely have died in what happens, rather than just have been inconvenienced.
Those issues though don't derail another solid episode, just one more left.
