Interesting concept but needed a bit more
chrisbilewicz21 December 2021
It was an interesting show, the designs they make are pretty good once finished but oh my gosh that host is so annoying and could be replaced by anyone else. The judges are a bit random as they speak English and then go into Spanish for no reason at all.

The way they start the show, I was expecting an actor from the film to be part of the judging at the end.

I would like to see more, but they really do need to change a few things to make it more entertaining.

Get rid of that host!!

A show ruined by Keke Palmer
bradykoch29 January 2022
There is lots of admirable creativity and it's cool to see a good competition that doesn't revolve around baking. But Keke Palmer made this show difficult to watch. The acting in her story telling was sub community theater acting. Then for some reason she brought that to hosting the actual competition.

Great idea, but over acted
goldengirl-6396728 May 2022
Our family loved the idea of this show but after a couple episodes we just forwarded through parts to see the end results and then stopped watching all together. The host was over the top, but on the annoying side, like she was trying too hard. Who ever's idea it was for the mini acting skits in between for the host....were HORRIBLE. Looking back, I think that's when we got annoyed with the host. She wasn't a bad host for the show but the skits were just horrible and cheesy, but not a fun cheesy. I honestly expect better from Disney.

Terrible

For it to be Disney I had very high expectations. It seemed cheesy and not at all entertaining. Very bad and uninterested . Keke Palmer was just flat out annoying.

Right artists but wrong time and wrong host.
therealkimtae16 December 2021
Falling right among the busy rabble of shows like "Zumbo's Just Desserts", "Sugar High", "Crazy Delicious", "Nailed it", "Baking Impossible", and "Bake Squad" this new offering from Disney pits talented teams of bakers, food artists, architects, and fruit carvers against one another to build food-based dioramas based on various Disney IP.

Even though each fresh crop of talent does their best over the course of an episode thanks to minimal producer interruption and a healthy chunk of hours to toil away, it's the cringe-in-human-form host, her awkward intro/outro performances, and her just plain poor interaction skills with the teams that brings the entire production well below the crowd of similar programs.

Please Disney, ditch the community production drama queen and let the judges take over hosting duty with classic Disney talent brought in to deliver in-character lore and lead-ins instead through cameos and voice-overs!

Lastly, during a time when the grocery bill for most Americans is climbing higher and higher with each trip, it's a bit worrisome to see so much raw foodstuffs getting piled heaps upon heaps into mixed-media artworks that are woefully inedible. There is no culinary effort nor judge consideration made towards flavor in this show; this is about visuals plain and simple with everything you see created getting tossed after the cameras stop rolling. Yes, even that 50 lb block of cheddar caked in paint and fruit loops and those 300 sheetcakes crammed into chicken wire fencing and lumber.

At least the production goes out of their way to say that any unused materials will be donated to charity. Though I wonder if it would have been better for Disney just to skip this colorful, bandwagoning display and make one big donation to a needy food bank instead.

All in all, If you're hungry for more food sculpture contests and can stomach some obnoxious over-dramatic time wasting and lack of flavor, check it out. If not, there are so many better TV offerings out there that will leave a much better taste in your mouth long after the last bite.

Nice concept but poorly executed
rhycsxvhz20 December 2021
Story telling is so juvenile. The show doesn't really focus too much on how the art is created. The judges seem inexperienced. Host is annoying. And for the most part I hate how much food is wasted. Not all the creations are completely edible. And since the taste of the food is insignificant, I doubt anyone can/wants to eat the creations anyway. So much waste. Can't watch this show.

So much cool and powerful creativity
szeng17 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I watched episode 5 and it blew my mind how much these food artists can do with just food : creative story telling, beautiful sculpture, large scale characterization, and final presentation, with the most unlikely or even impossible ingredients to me. It's so fun to see these teams collaborate and express themselves. Who would have thought that gingerbread can be turned into the head of Black Panther(Stacy and team did such an amazing job) ?! And potatoes can be carved into roses? It's crazy to think that all this art happens with the most accessible and safe ingredients people can get in real life - food! This genre of art makes art so much more accessible - you don't have to be sculpture artist that owns a workshop where you can play with concrete slabs... you can create art right in your kitchen, on the weekends, without worrying your cats or kids consuming any poison accidentally leaked from your creative process. I love how this art turns the ordinary into the extraordinary- that itself carries such a strong message!

Boring
santitonino-8528321 December 2021
For me the program doesn't have any sense when they are trying to create something that is not to eat. Just to.throw away food. Also the figures looks horrible. I loved the chocolate school on Netflix. It is not just do something with food. It has to be delicious. I was waiting more from Disney. Sadly I got bored like 5 min after the program began, I need to put 150 letters but that's it. Then kekekkekenen benenneennennenennenenennenenenenennenenennenenenenenenenenenennenenenenenennennenenennenenennenenenennenenenenennenenennenenenenne.

Love KEKE!
applegrrls21 December 2021
Initially thought the host was over acting until you realize she's playing various superhero characters. This is a lot of fun, and truly brightness & light right at a time when the world needs it most. Thanks Disney! I can't wait for season 2!

What kind of waste is this?
linusen-938-9186397 January 2022
It's beyond me how Disney can support this kind of waste! Millions of people starv and Disney thinks it's a good idea to waste ridiculously amount of food?

The usual American over acting is of course topping on this debacle.

Waste of food
fernandocenturion12 February 2022
It's a shame so much food is been wasted in this show, people doesn't even get to eat the sculptors. And they are very big. They should change it to be an ice sculpting competition.

Just ok
myztiques128 December 2021
I liked it but corny and overall seemed fake. Also, I don't know about others but watching a food show is more for escape and ideas. However, we had to bring BLM and inclusiveness into the show. We all need an escape for all the craziness of everything around us. We go to the beach, mountains or wherever is your zen place to find peace...

Would be Entertaining
portia_md6 February 2022
The show would have been entertaining if it wasn't for the host. She's incredibly annoying and grating to watch. Her acting also leaves much to be desired.

If you want the show to succeed, you definitely need someone more charismatic.

Fun and inspiring!
lizzardl-2945026 January 2022
I love this show! I had no idea who Keke Palmer was before this show; I love her energy and she looks like she's having fun!

I make edible food art for one event each year and this show has given me tons of inspiration and ideas.

The whole production is gorgeous. And I love the new twists on the Disney tales.

Bottom line, if you're a Disney fan, have a creative spirit and can appreciate the combination of 'engineering' and decoration, I think you'll really enjoy this show.

Could have been great
TheKayPea1 August 2022
Keke is not a good host. She never stops talking and sometimes a host needs to. Especially in competitions with judges involved. Let the judges do more of the talking. The stories at the beginning and end are painful to watch. Not cute. Not funny. Skip all that and get right into the competition. Otherwise enjoyable to watch.

Disney's New Food Show Filled With Whimsy And Larger Than Life Food Sculptures
rannynm21 February 2022
What do you get when you give adults a pass to play with their food in the magical world of Disney? You get one Foodtastic show! Foodtastic is Disney's new food build competition show that is filled with whimsical storytelling, breathtaking set designs, out-of-this-world visual effects, and larger than life food sculptures with magic around each corner.

Foodtastic is hosted by the multi-talented actress, Keke Palmer, who is also one of the executive producers. Each episode opens with Keke Palmer acting out a Disney-themed skit narrated by award-winning voice actor Anthony Mendez. Contestants must build scenes using food sculptures based on the skit. Flour Shop founder Amirah Kassem and NYC's City Cakes founder chef Benny Rivera serve as the food artist experts and judges on the show. Contestants are judged on technique, realism and creativity. The winning team is awarded bragging rights and a gold Foodtastic pin.

Each episode has three teams consisting of highly talented food artists including architects, food sculptors and even a Guinness world record pumpkin carver. Disney left no stone unturned when it came to making this show magical. The set designs are vibrant and very realistic. Creative visual effects such as a red sun setting in the background of the Star Wars-themed episode are used to track the contestants' time. The food artists are like kids in a candy store when they see all the food options they have to build their sculptures. The food designs are impressive and include anywhere from 55 different food ingredients for one sculpture, giant jawbreakers as giant donut sprinkles, wasps made out of hot peppers and even Ramen noodles as a massive ant hill. There are even plot twists that serve as extra challenges for the teams, where they may have to re-think their entire project to add a last-minute element, such as Micro Girl needing to be rescued. In that instance, they had to figure out how to add her and what type of food to use to make her. One of the best parts of the show is that all unused food is donated to the local food banks.

Disney is known for being magical and inspiring audiences around the world and Foodtastic is no different. It promotes teamwork, creativity, problem-solving skills and tapping into the magical world of Disney. The contestants really learn what it's like to dream big, free your mind, believe in yourself and your team and just go for it. It's sure to motivate generations of food artists.

I rate Foodtastic 5 out 5 stars and recommend it for kids ages 5 to 18, kids at heart and adults. You can find Foodtastic on Disney+ starting Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
