- Two students become engrossed with their handsome research subject until his true nature puts them in harm's way.
- Brunette Erin and Blonde Julia are friends attending a criminal psychologist class. Their teacher Dr. Stone lectures them after class to do better and not let the men in class walk all over them. They are assigned to profile an actual criminal. Erin looks through Dr. Stone's files and picks the hottest criminal she can find.
Erin and Julia go to the prison and meet with Cole, who claims his innocence. They interview him about his relationships and work on creating a profile. Before they can even finish their paper, Cole is released from Jail and stalks them on campus. He invites them to his motel to party.
Dr. Stone warns the girls to stay away from him. Erin doesn't take that advice and meets up with Cole at a bar. Then they hook up, and things get sexy. When the students come clean to Dr. Stone about going through her files, she tells them that she conducted to original case profile.
Meanwhile, Julia meets with a detective with inside information about Cole and says he was released as a favor. Julia tries to warn Erin to stay away from Cole. Erin insists that Cole isn't dangerous.
Dr. Stone is planning on writing a book with Cole, which seems like a conflict of interest. Erin and Julia, who are roommates apparently, sneak through Dr. Stones' things. As Erin is looking through a storage facility, she notices a woman following her and calls Julia.
Julia rushes home and looks for Erin, but the power goes out. Cole shows up to help look for Erin, and Julia is not into that idea. The detective pulls up and takes both of them into police custody because Erin's car is found abandoned in an alley, and foul play is suspected. (Lots of blood appears on the scene with a black-light flashlight.) Cole maintains his innocence like always. Julia is convinced that it is Cole because his alibi is shaky.
Dr. Stone invites Julia to stay with her to mourn Erin's death. Julia instead goes to Cole's motel and watches him change his shirt. They talk about Cole having dyslexia, and Julia realizes that Cole can't read his fan-girl letters. Julia spends the night and reads to him. Cole ruins it by kissing Julia, and she rushes off.
When she finally gets to Dr. Stone's house, she learns that Dr. Stone initially ruled in favor of Cole, claiming he was not a criminal. We also learn that Dr. Stone's first name is Diane and might be the person sending letters to Cole in jail under the moniker "D."
Dr. Stone is left home alone with a murderer. Her wine is drugged, and she tries to get away but is strangled with a scarf. Detectives arrive on the scene and call Julia. He tells her to get out of town for safety.
Julia sits down with all the evidence and pieces the puzzle together. Then she shouts "OH MY GOD" and records a video for social media. Julia gets dressed up and meets the detective in the park. They work together to get the confession for the murders.
At a closed library, Julia meets with Cole and plans on entrapping him. The detective watches on but is taken out with a taser. It is Erin! Her actual name is Hannah, and she staged her death. Hannah is the child of the murdered couple. Hannah/Erin witnessed the murder and was in love with Cole. Cole pretends to go along with it to give Julia time to run. Hannah/Julia tasers him too.
They run through the library stacks, and Erin/Hannah calls out for Julia. Julia hits Erin/Hannah with a book.
The detective apologizes to Cole for putting him in jail for all those years. Julia takes over Dr. Stones's class and dates Cole. (thanks to lifetimeuncorked)
