A little over the top but good!

Emily meets new student David at her high school who she starts to develop feelings for. But then David starts to begin stalking her, becoming controlling and getting violent. But why? You will have to turn in to see this Lifetime movie which ends with a bang! And of course, Ms Vivica is along for the ride, too! New actor Evan Adams has a nice acting future ahead of him! Recommend this valentine flick.

Fun but flimsy

First of all, why are the mother and daughter living in Versailles? The house is ridiculously over the top. Vivica is wonderful as always, the daughter bland, the mother strong. The young man is excellent and keeps it on track, even when the dialog is risible.

Did Ashley and Emily live in Cinderella's fairy castle?

Warning: Spoilers
I just saw this movie while doing other things around the house and I have these comments:

The general premise of the movie is very similar to another movie that I recently saw on LMN. Brother goes after his half-sister with revenge in mind - as here, both shared the same father. The ending however was very violent.

The house in which the interior shots were filmed was way over the top. I was ready for someone in a powdered wig to walk by. Do people really have furniture like that?

As usual Vivica Fox adds the touch of class to the movie!

Vivica surely must win the clueless dumba$$ role in her wrong series movies! I preferred her in Kill Bill 2. That is the last time she acted normally!

Worst movie I have seen in a while.

If I could give it a minus rating I would. Horrible acting and I guessed the plot ending 15 minutes into the movie. Don't waste your time on this one.

VIEWS ON FILM review of The Wrong Valentine
burlesonjesse513 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In 2021's The Wrong Valentine, the Valentine in question is a high school senior who goes psycho man crazy right off the bat. His name is David and he is played by Evan Adams. In other high school news, students from the late 70s called. They want David's wavy hairstyle and devil-may-care attitude back. Ha-ha.

So yeah, "Valentine" is a "Wrong" Lifetime flick. It has Vivica A. Fox being well, Vivica A. Fox. It also has an overbearing parent persona, an overbearing best friend persona, an overbearing admissions recruiter persona, a Los Angeles setting, and good old director David DeCoteau.

The Wrong Valentine verging on camp, contains a twisted twist towards the end that I didn't see coming. Don't worry though. You'll still get to hear Vivica spout that infamous "Wrong" Lifetime quip for the umpteenth time.

Using the same aerial shots and probably the same high school shooting locations from other Lifetime pics, The Wrong Valentine chronicles teenager Emily (played by Mariah Robinson). Emily is in the history club, Emily's birthday happens to be on Valentine's Day, and Emily is being pursued by 18-year-old David (mentioned earlier). David wants to be Emily's friend but also has other intentions. He's got a screw loose and stalks her to the point where she can't even breathe.

In fact, every character in "Valentine" watches Emily like she's under some sort of microscope. If I'm Emily I'm thinking that I might need some space. If people don't leave me the heck alone I might have to run away and join the circus (ugh).

In retrospect, The Wrong Valentine is director DeCoteau going over the top. He gets mediocre acting from everyone involved but his revelation mentioned earlier does improve the film's icky intrigue. Here's the problem though: Every goof in "Valentine" seems to fear David yet nobody bothers to alert the authorities or the high school powers that be. Evan's David is not really intimidating mind you. He's more like that pretty boy jerk nose who would tick off the wrong jock and get his butt kicked in any HS brawl. Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

The Wrong... (insert noun) just like the others
kpemma-9942212 February 2022
Predictable movie like most Lifetime movies. The actors were alright. The only one I didn't like was the villain David. Him and the main female actor had no chemistry. I wish they would've had someone more mysterious and better looking for his role. Plus that white head on the side of his nose through the entire movie had me wanting to reach thru the screen and pop it! Yuck. Lol All in all it's still a fun watch.

Surprisingly good...
paul_haakonsen16 May 2022
I sat down to watch the 2021 TV movie "The Wrong Valentine" mostly because the movie had Vivica A. Fox on the cast list. But I also opted to watch it since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen before.

And I must admit that when I saw that it was a Lifetime movie, then I didn't really harbor much of any expectation to writers Robert Dean Klein, Jeffrey Schenck and Peter Sullivan. But I still opted to watch the movie.

As the movie came to the end, I have to admit that I was actually glad I opted to watch the movie, despite of it being a Lifetime movie, because "The Wrong Valentine" was genuinely entertaining and a good movie. The storyline was well written. Sure, it was predictable and somewhat generic, but the material worked.

The acting performances in the movie were good, and they had some interesting names and talents on the cast list. The lead roles were played nicely by Mariah Robinson (playing Emily) and Evan Adams (playing David). I was especially impressed with Evan Adams and his spot on performance as a mentally unstable stalker. The movie also had a nice performance from Arie Thompson (playing Ashley, Emily's mom) and of course Vivica A. Fox (playing Ms. Connelly). A shame that Vivica A. Fox didn't have more on-screen time.

While "The Wrong Valentine" was an entertaining and very watchable movie, the contents of the storyline and script hardly had enough material to sustain more than a single viewing. However, I will say that you should definitely sit down to watch director David DeCoteau's "The Wrong Valentine" movie if you have the chance. I was genuinely entertained and positively surprised.

My rating of "The Wrong Valentine" lands on a seven out of ten stars.

Fluffy thriller
nightroses10 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Many lifetime films recently made are unrealistic. The people and the homes they live in are complete fantasy! This house that a widow and her daughter live in looks like a royal palace inside! I'm surprised the Queen and her corgi dogs didn't appear.

The story was very simple and just didn't make logical sense. The twisted and violent Valentine was really a bitter half brother of the girl from the palace. The acting of the villain was convincing and deserves credit for that but everyone else acts a bit too sugary.

Actor who plays villain makes the movie!
poundsdown28 February 2021
There is a new actor in LMN and he's great. I have a feeling that we are getting to see this guy at the beginning of his career. He is what kept my interest. He's not your usual LMN actor which means once he gets discovered we will lose him as he levels up to a tv show or big movies. In the meantime I hope they put him in everything while he's still willing to take LMN movies!!

This is a movie with no real twists. Predictable from the start. Boy meets girl, girl is naive, boy stalks girl, girl shoots boy. The end.

Lifetime movies..
ts-000012 February 2021
The channel of unrealistic, over the top & downright cheesy stories. Sometimes forget what movie it is,due to recycled actors & plots.

The mom's acting was over the top & outfits more suited for teens. Was like she was told action, now go enter the room.. Always rushing in,honestly a bit ridiculous.

The villian tried hard, just wasn't real great.

I like Vivica but.. Enough! Is there nobody else? Let's not forget homes & more, that seem a bit out of reality.

Was refreshing seeing faces that seemed new,but didn't save this reasonably ok movie.

Won't make my list of movies to rewatch, even in the distant future.

My Funny and Deranged Valentine
lavatch18 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A first Valentine is always special...unless it is the wrong Valentine. In this film, it is definitely wrong because when young Emily Marshall meets David Olson, a new boy at school, she will experience her first Valentine. Unfortunately, David turns out to be Emily's half-brother! The best line in the film was when Ashley Marshall, the very concerned mother of Emily, asks her daughter the following question: "Please tell me that you guys never...."

"The Wrong Valentine" was plagued by a situation that was far-fetched beyond belief. From the outset, it was clear that David, who was just released from the North Pines mental institution, was unstable. It was never made clear why Ashley never learned that her husband had sired another child about Emily's age, prior to their marriage.

There was also too much over-acting in the film. David's character was totally over-the-top with enormous mood swings when he could pour on the charm for one moment, then turn on a dime into a complete psycho. There was never any genuine chemistry apparent between Emily and David.

One of our favorite actresses, Vivica A. "Lifetime" Fox, plays the role of the high school history teacher, Miss Janet Connelly, who was far too slow in recognizing the pathology of David. The kind high school counselor, Mrs. Stein, sensed that David was a loose canon, and she paid the ultimate price for it.

Another weakness of the film was the home of Ashley and young Emily. It seemed far too cavernous for only a mother and a daughter. And in the filming, the utterly sterile house did not seem to be "lived in." Everything about this film came up short in attempting to provide a compelling saga of My Funny and Deranged Valentine.

Horrible Acting, Terrible Writing
GNickL15 February 2023
Only ten minutes in and this is already one of the worst films ever. I've never seen a "professional" production with such universally bad acting. That's paired with even worse writing. The dialog is painfully stupid and hackneyed. Scenes make little sense. The history classroom looks like the basement of an Elks Hall. Other "school" scenes look nothing like a school.

And did I mention the acting is atrocious?

Is Vivica Fox supposed to be some kniwn actor because she's pretty bad. She overacts her lousy lines. The guy who plays the villian David is annoying, especially his ridiculous hair. That's it.

Queen Vivica Strikes Again
aprilsfriendorin13 February 2021
This movie was incredible! When vivica THE fox said her iconic "it looks like you had the wrong-" line at the end, I actually fainted. I do wish there was more vivica, just being the helpful background teacher isn't enough :( but other than that the movie was good, the evil dude needs a haircut though

Strangely Addicted
shankia_tinsleyLL18 February 2021
The plot was good but I felt that the acting and execution could have been a little better. Somebody said Ashley, the mother, was over-the-top, but I felt that the best friend, Michelle, was super annoying! Also, the ending was kind of weak. On the plus side, Evan Adams (David Olsen) is a TOTAL BABE! He alone did a good job playing an obsessive, vengeful heartthrob from hell. In my opinion, he is the one who made this movie bearable. More to the point, he's actually the reason I keep watching it, and I look forward to seeing him in more films!

Best of the Wrongs!
mallcowboy30 April 2021
If being wrong isn't right, then what is? If you can answer that question, you will love this movie. This is definitely the most taught and well acted of the Wrong series, and has the best script, I think. You know what you're getting into with Lifetime, and this was one of the best in recent memory. + Both the kid actors were great!

I'm just a teenage psycho-bag, baby!
marian-g14 February 2021
You get to know all sorts of psychos when following Lifetime thriller movies and yes, as one reviewer said, many stories are recycled and you never cease to be amazed by level of madness and depravity when dead bodies start to pile up - idea for this movie would probably not be original one - it happened and it keeps happening all the time that somebody gets so screwed up in their head and jilted enough for normal person watching this to make you sick of stomach i- for me just a new rock bottom of psycho terror. Movie starts with the valentime's plot of blushing teenagers at school but shockingly things deteriorate badly soon enough to make you sick in stomach when psycho character begins their moves on - question with these movie plots always pops up: could this happen in real life? how easy and affordable is it for somebody track you down from your past life in order to exert some sort of punishment on you.

I'm always a fan of anything with Vivica but the villain was especially evil in this one which kept me on the edge of my seat!
