Great Show
rossesq17 February 2024
This show is hilarious, yet still deals with the tough issues. The sex scenes are appropriate and not over the top. It deals with poignant issues that affect the Black family. I can't wait until season 4. I love love love love love love love this show. The season's cliff hangers are exciting. I wish it were better advertised to increase the viewing audience. We need the positive representation that this show offers to be included among this season's must-see shows. Please let us know when Bounce is going to renew the show for the next season. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Satisfied Viewer.

Takes a while but it is relevant
wnxkfwm15 June 2023
I just binged both season 1 & 2. I'll get the good out the way. I think show is decent. It gives a real glimpse into how some black men think. I won't lie though, it is corny & sometimes very stereotypical. Kinda boring at first, but the story does build, which is good. I don't really consider it a comedy, Booker is funniest character. I do think it is somewhat unrealistic, for example: Greg doesn't have stable work, but seems to pay rent, keep his gas tank filled, have money for drinks & hang out with fellas, he also dates pretty regularly. Keith, character as a photographer, how's he paying all his bills? Then Jarvis assistant, same thing. Her place was very nice, I'm unclear how she was surviving. All that costs! It is a worthwhile watch!

Fantastic Show!

Great writing, great acting, great film making. I love seeing a show that's funny, but can show men being vulnerable in an authentic fashion. Trust me, that's hard for us.

Women need to see this show!
abbaelohim8 August 2022
The thing that attracted me to Johnson in the first place was that it was about four Black men, their friendships, and their worlds. All of this is told from a male viewpoint, so the show is automatically invaluable. Especially great is the way it deals with current events, careers, overcoming, and love.

Women who want to understand the men in their lives need to watch a show like this. I'm sure those same women would take a man's advice about their issues with men. This fits the bill.

It's a wonderful show. I tell every woman I know about it. And that they should watch. I wish the episodes were longer. On a side note, who couldn't like how the intro includes Greg's Buick Electra 225 convertible? For four men who aren't related by blood, they sure act like kin, even when things go wrong. The negative reviews here are undeserved. Read the positive ones. Then binge-watch up to the latest episode. You will understand.

Below mediocre
civil_society3 August 2021
I agree with the other review. This show was way overhyped. Johnson was promoted as a new, fresh approach to how black men are portrayed in the media but the show actually uses the same tired stereotypes that we've already seen countless times such as the male character with "anger issues." Or even worse, the nurse is overworked while her man has commitment issues and is mostly seen hanging out with his friends in the clubs. Even the white characters were stereotyped. This show literally had a "raisins in the potato salad" scene. It doesn't get much more unoriginal than that. I had high hopes for Johnson, but this was too far below mediocre for me. I love the idea of the show but the execution (writing, dialogue, and acting) was very amateur.

Love it

Just discovered this show from a Youtube interview. Surprised by the extremely negative reviews. Characters are beginning to unfold and the subject matter is timely. May be too honest for some.

Lots of hype, no delivery
HallowedEve2 August 2021
Bounce TV advertised this non-stop for months- even the commercials were catchy and intriguing. Too bad it fails on all levels. D. L. Hughley is one of the best comedians anywhere, how did he get attached to this amater hour show? The writing and story and boring, and the actors are stiff and...well, just bad. I have seen college students put together more watchable work. I was ready for new, good, watchable TV. Guess I am still waiting.

Pumped for Season 2!
I'm so happy this show is getting a season 2! I just found out. This show is one of the great undiscovered gems of the pandemic. When everyone else catches on, this show is going to hit big.

Johnson on Bounce Tv is whats missing from TV
wuphoto17 July 2022
Finally..... A TV show showcasing a mans point of view in a internet driven World dominated by messy "reality" programming altering the psychological outlook of womens opinions.

Johnson on Bounce is (to me) what the Cosby show was to the 80's and 90's! It is must see TV told from actual characters than I can identify with. And although all their roles are unique and different the messaging is on point like icicles.

I truly feel like its a refreshing mixture of quality entertainment and educational content. Can't wait to see season 2!!!

Great show!

Great Show
kia-6307525 July 2022
This show is great to watch I wish it was longer than an half hour. It showcases four black males who are friends going through different walks of life. Like a male version of Insecure or Sistas. I believe this show can touch bases with a lot of people and can be discussed in different gathering. Ladies give it a try because I often hear women say they wonder what men are thinking or saying. This is giving you a glimpse of that. Great show I hope the show continues to grow as well as the characters.

Such a Disappointment!
vpittmon-130 August 2021
I wanted to give it a chance since DL & Cedric the Entertainer were involved, but after the first episode I was so disappointed. I haven't bothered to watch again.

So good! The male version of Insecure
This show is so good! Too many people are sleeping on it, I just found out and watched the whole thing. Some haters on IMDB for sure, I don't know what they're talking about. This show made me laugh, and hit me in the feelings. Definitely watch it, so glad it got a second season.

Trash Show

This has started being shown on ION TV. It is awful yet ION continues to interrupt good programs to provide an hour of this. Fortunately, my remote works well.

Authentic look into black culture
deucethetruth25 July 2022
It's hard to find televisions shows that dig into the black culture of music, relationships, where we come from, and the way we interact with each other. This show has done a great job at casting and creating each character to be unique and individual. I enjoy every Sunday, every new episode, and every rollout from Johnson.

Absolute waste of Time

Imagine bringing all the stereotypes about black people in to one movie, and asking a person with 0 talent to write the script for it.

This is basically that.

josephknighten11 February 2022
I find the reviews to be a bit unfair but hey art is open to criticism. Honestly, it's cool and refreshing to see this group and I am glad that they got a season 2 which is coming up. I think has the series moves along and actors gain their feet performances will increase. Chemistry will evolve anddddd this show will continue to grow. Congrats fellas!

Really good show
JetFlix18 January 2022
Really good show. Came across it accidentally, and binge-watched the first season. Not sure what the negative reviews are or what that is about; not sure what show they were watching; I found this to be really good and it's nice to see Black men in roles beyond stereotypical thugs, drug dealers, pimps, or treating women like dirt/disrespecting them. Bring on season 2.

Give it a chance, make your own choice
arischaconner21 September 2022
I don't understand the harsh reviews. Admittedly, Season 1 started slow. But as I continued to watch, I was consistently drawn in by the characters and the storyline. The experiences, though called "stereotypes" are experiences. They are real situations that happen. Doesn't art reflect life? I suggest giving the show a chance and making your own decisions. Each of the lead characters has their own distinct personalities and issues which to me makes for great TV. I love the awkwardness of the character Keith, the brooding yet vulnerable strength of Omar, the searching spirit of Greg and Jarvis as he is on a journey to find out who he truly is. Also, I like seeing DL Hughley in the role as the Uncle. Check it out for yourself. It's like a fine wine....it gets better with time.

Finally something that's real .... Why am I just seeing this show
chasegraphics27 October 2022
After surfing through countless "Black Drama" my wife and I landed on "Johnson". (Laughs expected).

I'm so tired of watching the Hood Flicks that are constantly making POC look like monsters, bottom self citizens, and snakes oil salesmen. This show reminds me of my 6 childhood friends of 50+ years ago until today encountering 1 death due to illness. It's very refreshing seeing this type of show, that's very uplifting with everyday life and situations that actually happen. I maybe bias due to the shows reflection of my own life.

It's starts off slow 1st 2 episodes, but then I feel like the actors and writers start to mesh. The casting is excellent and the positive messaging is real. I hope to see more shows take this approach. Todays entertainment's overloaded with negative garbage that keep us all gathered in one big filthy bed.

I applaud Cedric and the creators of "Johnson" for taking the chance that may not be popular to many but enjoyed by few! I Hope to see more!!!

Say whattt?!
diamonspain27 June 2023
This is the best black male show ever! It has a little bit of everything. It shows a positive and beautiful side of how black peoples lives can truly shine, while keeping it authentic and real. The relationships and dating experiences these men go through, is definitely real life matters. I love the brotherly bond. It's just perfect in my opinion. And the females look so good! The negative reviews is from haters, and people who don't like a positive black cast to get the honor and respect they deserve. It teaches you to be a man in this age. This show portrays strength and encouragement. Forgiveness and love is at the heart of this story. It peaks in to real lives and real conversations.

Superb Cast and storyline!
morrnita27 September 2023
I am a 65 year old African American and this is the best show I have ever seen about the lives of 4 young African Americans men. The characters are three dimensional and the acting and storyline is superb!!!

I have been watching the show from the very beginning. I like the detail given to each of the four characters personalities; their strengths and flaws.

We experience their triumphs and defeats. As well as, watching them holding themselves accountable and supporting each other.

It is also refreshing to a show that projects positivity. 30 minutes per episode is not enough!

I would love to see a motion picture featuring the entire cast.
