The following post mortem contains spoilers from Sunday’s Ray Donovan — proceed at your own peril.
Over the course of five seasons, Ray Donovan‘s title fixer has sustained multiple bullet wounds, has been stabbed several times (once with scissors) and, in at least six separate incidents, found himself on a receiving end of near-fatal beatings. But Liev Schreiber’s immortal antihero saved his most death-defying stunt for Sunday’s Season 5 finale.

Annabella Sciorra, who received an Emmy nomination for her role on “The Sopranos,” has accused Harvey Weinstein of raping her in the early 1990s and sexually harassing her for years afterward. Her account comes from the New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow, who contacted her for his initial story about Weinstein; she initially told Farrow that the disgraced former executive had never done anything inappropriate for fear of retribution.

“I was so scared. I was looking out the window of my living room, and I faced the water of the East River,” said Sciorra upon contacting Farrow again. “I really wanted to tell you. I was like, ‘This is the moment you’ve been waiting for your whole life.'” The actress said she “really, really panicked” when first speaking to Farrow and “just wanted to get off the phone.

I don't know about you, but I've missed Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin. Fans will be happy to learn that he will be back in action in Marvel's Daredevil Season 3!
The last time we saw the character, he made a brief appearance in Daredevil Season 2. I'm sure he'll have a much bigger role this time around. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb confirmed the news to Deadline and said:
"Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk. We’re very excited how Marvel’s Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson."
As far as this new showrunner goes, he has worked on series such a Man in High Castle and Arrow. He seems like a solid choice to lead Daredevil into the next chapter of his story. As for what that story will entail,...

Not long after Ray Donovan’s Paula Malcomson learned that her cancer-stricken alter ego, Abby, would not survive the series’ current fifth season, she had something of an epiphany. “I made a phone call to [showrunner] David Hollander and said, ‘I want her to lose all her dignity. I want her to lose her beauty. I need this to be bad; otherwise, I don’t know how [she would ever] leave her children,’” she recalls. “And he said, ‘Let me think about it.’ And he put the phone down and then called me back in 15 seconds and said, ‘Ok, let’s go. Let’s do it.

President John F. Kennedy‘s only grandson shares his passion for charitable giving — and recently found a very creative way to donate his time to a good cause.
In an article for New York magazine’s The Cut, Jack Schlossberg, the son of former U.S. ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy, describes how he recently made his way around Manhattan on a stand-up paddleboard for charity.

Stepping into screen legend Greta Garbo’s former New York City home, is like taking a step back in time. The perfectly preserved floor-through apartment overlooking the East River is in one of the neighborhood’s most historic buildings, the Camponile, and is covered in knotty pine that realtor Brian Lewis notes, reminded her of her native Sweden.

Is it a modern classic? I think so. Lawrence Kasdan’s best movie embraces characters often lampooned or dismissed, or stereotyped as kooks — introverts, extroverts, people trying to make personal connections and those trying to avoid them. William Hurt finds his best role and Geena Davis won an Oscar for hers; thirty years later the entire cast feel like beloved friends.

Danny’s biggest issue was working with Anthony.
What was with Danny’s attitude? This can possibly be the first time that an investigator from the Da’s office has had to follow up on one of his cases. As Anthony pointed out, sometimes they need to gather more evidence in order to ensure a conviction. This can’t be news to Danny.
But I will say that watching Anthony give it right back to Danny was kind of fun. Not enough people are willing to put Danny in his place, and Anthony wasn’t about to put up with any of his crap.
However, I was left wondering if Diaz was going to go after Erin. He threatened her life as he was hauled out of court, but I’d assume that must...

Jazz trumpeter Lee Morgan was known for creatively challenging the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis on stage with his style and intensity, a youthful performer who surprised audiences by playing with utter confidence and maturity. For a time, he was considered one of the most important jazz musicians alive. His wife, Helen Morgan, was a forceful woman, who attracted attention with her good looks and delectable cooking. Her home became a hang out spot for struggling New York musicians who needed a warm meal after a rough night performing in the clubs. Morgan and Helen fell in love, becoming quick partners. When Morgan fell into heroin addiction, Helen saved him, pushing her man into rehabilitation. And later, she killed him, shooting him in the chest as he stood on stage, clutching his trumpet.

Kung-Fu Panda director Jennifer Yuh Nelson is set to helm her first live-action feature film called Darkest Minds. The movie is based on a Young Adult trilogy written by Alexandra Bracken, and it sounds like it will make for a awesome film.
The book is described as “combining superhero conventions with tones of coming-of-age stories such as Stand By Me and post-apocalyptic survivor tales like The Walking Dead.” It’s a combination of all of my favorite things, so it seems like a project like this is worth getting excited about.
The news comes from THR, who says that the story is set after “a pandemic kills most of America’s children and teenagers. When some survivors develop various superpowers, they are deemed too dangerous for society, taken from their families and placed inside internment camps.”

Dog and cat people can both equally rejoice at The Secret Life of Pets, the latest animation project by Chris Renaud and other talent behind the Despicable Me series. Canary, rabbit, and viper lovers get thrown a bone as well. The film, premised on what pets really do behind closed doors when no humans are watching, touches in a heart-warming way on the relationship between humans and animals. It’s also a wacky and sometimes over the top comedy adventure epic with gorgeous animation and a clever soundtrack. While it does not rise to the level of the tear-jerking, moralistic films that have come to define the Pixar pantheon, it at least offers a few laughs along with one or two “aw” inducing situations.

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll admit up front that Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir’s character, Remo Williams (aka “The Destroyer”) has played a small, but significant role in my life.
My older sister had been a high-school friend of one of the author’s daughters. Though the passing of time has made the chronology of events a bit hazy, I’m guessing it was through that friendship that I was first introduced to Warren Murphy’s teenage son. It was the son who – upon learning I was a big fan of his father’s pulp-paperback novels – graciously gifted me a personally autographed copy of The Destroyer #3: Chinese Puzzle (1972). This now-tattered paperback proudly sits on my book shelf to this very day. This, I guess, would have been about 1978. I was seventeen years old. I’m fifty-four now and admit I hadn’t...

Stephen Colbert challenged Donald Trump to donate $1 million to charity after harping on the real estate mogul and Republican presidential hopeful's "riches to richer" story on The Late Show Wednesday.
With Trump now trailing Ben Carson in the polls, the candidate has begun pushing the narrative that he's always been an underdog. In a recent interview on Today, Trump explained how he built his fortune not from nothing, but a paltry $1 million dollar loan from his father.

Many horror fans know Ashley C. Williams as Lindsay from The Human Centipede, but her role in the upcoming revenge thriller Julia will feature the actress as a vastly different character with some bold intentions of her own. With Julia due out in select AMC theaters on October 23rd, we caught up with Ashley for our latest Q&A feature to look ahead at her latest project and reflect on The Human Centipede, as well.
Thanks for taking the time to converse with us today, Ashley. When you first read the screenplay for Julia, what appealed to you the most?
Ashley C. Williams: My pleasure! When I read the script, I really couldn't put it down, which is very rare these days when a script is sent to me. Every page turn I was just sucked deeper and deeper into the dark inner world of this character—her pain,...

The Strain, Season 2, Episode 13, “Night Train”
Written by Carlton Cuse and Chuck Hogan
Directed by Vincenzo Natali
Aired Sundays at 10pm (Et) on FX
Vincenzo Natali, who directed last week’s episode, returns as director for the finale. The penultimate episode of season two had some seriously eerie settings, bringing much-needed horror to the series and this week, Natali presents the best-looking episode of the series so far. The majority of scenes make use of two complimentary colors of lighting, blue and orange, to define two settings: underground and above ground. In the cathedral where the bidding war between Abraham and Eichorst takes place, warm light reflects off of skin and is enhanced by the church’s crimson and golden décor. In the train station, Kelly stands in the foreground saturated in blue light against a neon green background. While Palmer’s penthouse walls are cream-colored and warm-toned olive and his furniture is gold,...

Earlier this week, Pretty Little Liars finally solved the show's biggest mystery: Who is "A"?
Spoiler alert: After the revelation that Charles Dilaurentis is CeCe Drake, fans' reactions were ... well ... mixed, with some viewers blown away by the big announcement and others seriously underwhelmed.
This wasn't the first time a series has raised all-consuming, conspiracy-theory-inspiring questions only to miss the mark when it finally delivered the answers. Below, some of the most disappointing (and spoiler-filled) outcomes to TV's iconic riddles.

There isn’t an authentic human motivation or emotion to be found here. The bar has been raised too high on comic-book movies for us to accept junk like this. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I knew from the opening moments of this 187,874th reboot of Fantastic Four that it would be getting everything wrong in most shiftless ways. Because that’s when it suggests that Oyster Bay, on Long Island, is across the East River from Manhattan and has a lovely view of the Empire State Building. Which it isn’t, and which it doesn’t. That may seem like a really nitpicky sort of nitpick, but this is only the first example of the appalling laziness of this all-origin, no-story superhero origin story. If LeBron James has an Achilles heel, it’s the heat. Even the basketball god, who boasts two world championships, has famously struggled in past when the mercury rises, namely Game 1 of the 2014 NBA finals as the air conditioning malfunctioned inside the At&T Center in San Antonio. But on the set of Trainwreck last summer -- James hit turnaround jump shots with ease in a climate-controlled building in Basketball City, overlooking the East River on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Outside, the thermometer read 83 degrees, but felt more oppressive on the humid afternoon. Barely recognizable at the

With a release date set for just over a year from now, casting on the fifth Jason Bourne movie is underway. Today brings word Julia Stiles will be back once again as covert agent Nicky Parsons whom we last saw in a cafe learning Bourne's body wasn't found after he took a leap in the East River at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum. Warning: This post contains spoilers from Forever‘s Season 1 finale.
Forever creator Matt Miller has done his part. He’s made a formal proposal to the network. He’s rallied the fans on social media. And now he’s waiting — like the rest of us — to see if his procedural-with-a-supernatural-twist will make like its protagonist and prove unkillable (at least for another season).
“We went and pitched our Season 2, what that would be, to ABC,” he tells TVLine. “It went great, and they were really pleased. They’ve been very supportive of the creative of the show all season long.

During the Great Depression a number of rich New Yorkers gentrified parts of the East River, displacing several slums in the name of a waterway vista in their high-rises. Sidney Kingsley’s original 1935 play of Dead End mashed the actual dead end community of Manhattan’s East 53rd Street with the luxury River House of East 52nd to bring to light the human tensions in advanced capitalism. After a private street exit closes (likely due to the sort of construction that comes with neighborhood renovation), the dressy rich must walk through immigrant-heavy back streets when traveling. With the distance between these communities closing, internal aggravation among the play’s riverside ruffians, the Dead End Kids (later bought by Samuel Goldwyn and eventually renamed the Bowery Boys), turns into physical violence. It’s material that could be ripe for Marxist interpretation, but Kingsley’s play acts as more noblesse oblige social concern more than flip-the-system call-to-action.

Dominic Cooper, who will be taking on the lead role of Jesse Custer in AMC’s Preacher
AMC has cast the lead role in its upcoming series Preacher. The adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic series has formally signed Dominic Cooper as the titular preacher Jesse Custer, as confirmed by executive producer and co-developer Seth Rogen.
We have Jesse Custer! @dominiccoop is gonna save our souls. #Preacher

This is not Cooper’s first foray into the world of comic books, as he has also played Howard Stark, father to Iron Man Tony Stark, on both the big and small screen. Cooper, whose formal signing comes after weeks of talks, joins a cast that already includes Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun, Ian Colletti, and Lucy Griffiths. A premiere date for Preacher has yet to be announced.

Things have been better for Thing. Not to mention for Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and the Human Torch. Over the course of the past year in the “The Fall of the Fantastic Four” story line, the Ff was forced to vacate their home and headquarters in the Baxter Building. The government took custody of Reed and Sue’s children Franklin and Valeria. Johnny lost his powers. Ben was accused of murdering the Puppet Master. Oh yeah, and they’re wearing these silly red costumes.
But even though “The Fall of the Fantastic Four” is a massive year-long epic, it still has some quiet moments. In Fantastic Four v 5 #12, we find one of those moments. Find it, in all places, on Ryker’s Island. I know what you’re saying, Ryker’s Island is the New York island prison that sits in the East River, what kind of quiet moment could we find there?...

If only sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs roam this Earth as Chris Kyle’s (Bradley Cooper) father informs him early on in American Sniper, then Clint Eastwood’s film represents the cross-breed of the hound and sheep – a creation perplexed as to who it is, its identity betwixt and between the protector that it wants to be and the ram that it truly is. At conflict with itself in scenes of both home and war, the tottering ideological stances of the film accentuate more than just cinematic gaucherie; Eastwood here has made a film about a war that he does not believe in, forcing his gaze onto the sole character in the film that does.
In this sense, American Sniper is far from a patriotic film, though patriotism unquestionably plays its part throughout the narrative. No more is it nationalistic than it is rueful, and it is the china shop hesitation...

The two had been arguing in the elder Gilbert's bedroom at around 3 p.m., sources tell the New York Post. The victim's wife called 911, according to the paper. A handsome man boards the subway, choosing a seat next to a beautiful woman. They make eye contact, then look away. He says “good day” to her (in Russian), she responds in kind—and then the onslaught begins:
Woman: “How did you know I was Russian?”
Man: “Korovka. Russian chocolate. You have a smudge.”
[Woman wipes her face. There's a pause.]
Man: “Good luck at the performance tonight.”

Man: “Sorry. I noticed the indentations on your fingers. At first I thought violin, but the spacings are a bit too wide, and there’s no markings under your chin. So, cello.”
