Suspenseful thriller, good for a one-time watch
soorajsa5 October 2022
Suspenseful thriller, good for a one-time watch. Quite easy for one to guess the ending of the film. We might feel the plot was lost in between but maintains it almost ok till the end. Climax is not that great and could have made much better. Acting was average, we have recently seen better one's recently from Jayasurya and Jaffar idukki. Disappointed that few of the scenes were very irrelevant to the plot, but added for giving small roles to actors. Namitha pramod looked out of place for her come back movie. Film is only 1 hr and 45 minutes, still time is spent in showing news clipping not very relevant to this film.

Somewhat Predictable but a good attempt
crravikiran5 October 2022
The movie keeps u interested but there have been many such movies in the past. It's a one time watchable movie. Jayasurya and Jaffer did their roles perfectly . Majority of the movie is shot at one particular location that is around an ATM square. The movie sends out the same message as Sai Pallavi's Gargi on Sony LIV. The movie moves at a bit slow pace especially during the interactions of Jayasurya and Jaffer. Namitha Pramod has a very limited role . I felt the storyline could have been a bit more better with more twists and the writer could have added few more charecters into the film. I am giving 6/10 for this film.

ISHO MOVIE....OLD SCRIPT ?
saratnair-058695 October 2022
If the movie was released is 2018 or earlier then it was perfect as the script feels too old. The plot of the movie is also predictable from the start itself. Acting vice all actors did a good job but the execution of the movie is poor and old school. It is a decent one time watch movie and does not contain much thrill or plot holes and even if there are some they are predictable with no jaw dropping scenes but nothing illogical. Run time of the movie is also not bad as there are no unnecessary waste of time and everything is to the point and keeps us engaged in the movie even though the plot is predictable.

Average movie , faked high rating now
SPHariSP6 October 2022
I saw this movie rating was dropped below 6 on second day of release , but after 2 days 100s of 10 rating pumped in to make the rating high !!

BGM by Rahul raj and editing by shameer has done some justice. Nadhirsha making is decent that's all.

Main issue is after 15-20 mins when Jayasurya appear, rest of the story is too predictable. Not much suspense left. Jafar and Jayasurya done decent job. The baby actress Akshara was excellent. Others are fine

May be due to covid they could not shoot elaborately. That is quite visible thru out.

If you like Jayasurya Jafar Nadhirsha , you could give it a try!

Jayasurya and Jaffer Idukki shine in this largely middling, preachy wannabe thriller
nidhunmoviebuff6 October 2022
Comedian-singer turned filmmaker Nadirsha had a promising start as a director in Malayalam, delivering back to back superhits in the slapstick comedies "Amar Akbar Antony (2015)" and "Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan (2016)". The talented auteur has however, hit a bit of a rough patch off late, with "Mera Naam Shaaji (2019)" and more recently, Dileep-starrer "Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan (2022)" coming across as dull affairs, panned by critics and fans alike. It is perhaps because of this that he pivoted genres, moving away from his trademark comedies to a broodish, atmospheric thriller in "Eesho" that is alas, watchable only in parts.

National Award-winner "Jayasurya" stars as the eponymous "Eesho" a mysterious truck driver who chances upon a seemingly chance encounter with the night watchman of an ATM, Ramachandran (Jaffer Idukki) after his vehicle breaks down. Ramachandran is coincidentally, the star witness in a scandalous rape case with the main accused being an influential businessman. With his life under constant threat and his key secret testimony set for the next morning, how the duo navigate the trials and tribulations that come their way on this fateful night form the rest of the story.

Sub-par filmmakers mistake subject-oriented films for just being preachy vehicles where they can shamelessly push their ideas and propoganda. While the film's heart is in the right place, talking about child abuse, the way it is presented comes across as inorganic and contrived and the dialogue resorts to mere sermons for long stretches. Jayasurya and Jaffer Idukki are both seasoned performers and excel in their roles, but the writing is unable to match up to their levels in many places.

Eesho's predictable plotline is another major eyesore, with the so-called twist in the final act obvious to the audience from the get-go, not providing any real surprise element or thrills requisite of a well-made thriller. Nadirsha has made a brave attempt in going for a genre he is not well-versed in but is unable to backup his novel idea with immersive writing in an era where Malayalam is churning out superb thriller like "Attention Please (2022)" and "Bhoothakaalam". You can watch "Eesho" for superb performances from Jayasurya and Jaffer Idukki, for there is not much else to savour. The film is now streaming on SonyLIV, in its original Malayalam as well as in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubs, all with English subtitles.

Movie with a social relevance
wilsonandmind6 October 2022
Nadirshah is a familiar name to Malayalee who appreciates humor and parody. When he started making movies few years back, naturally we expected the genre which he is well versed with. However, in Amar Akbor Anthony, he told us a story which was of social relevance, and it was appreciated. Now again Nadirshah has come out with another subject socially relevant today - Defection of witness is cases especially in high profile sexual abuse and murder. Movie is a very good watch and leaves an impact in minds of general public. Role of Jayasurya is not a challenging one for him though there are instances where he has done exceptionally well. Notable character is Jaffar Idukki. Over last few years he is becoming one among the finest actors of Malayalam industry. I won't be surprised if he bags a state level award or national award soon. Director has left some room for suspense but not to the level of a thriller. Background score is soothing though I have felt that the music of the only song is a repetition of director's older movies.

A thriller with almost zero thrills! [+39%]
arungeorge135 October 2022
The oddly-titled Eesho benefits from the solid performances of Jayasurya and Jaffer Idukki, but the storytelling style is a major letdown. The script doesn't carry even a tiny bit of suspense, and the average thriller-viewer should be able to decipher every twist and turn in the plot very easily. Nadirshah harks back to a hot button issue he presented in his first film Amar Akbar Anthony, and this time, chooses to give it a more serious treatment. But Eesho fails as a thriller because its plot beats have absolutely nothing new to offer. Roby Varghese Raj's visuals give the night scenes a very saturated look, making these portions somewhat more interesting (at least to look at!). Rahul Raj's score is strictly average.

A thriller with a social message
Asterix839 October 2022
Loved this movie! It's a gripping thriller with a good storyline and an interesting twist in the end. The incidents cited in the movie which convey a social message is heart-wrenching, and loved the way the Director/Writer managed to weave in a social message into this thriller. I am quite surprised to see so many negative reviews about this movie which is quite harsh. Honestly I liked it and it's worth watching. Kudos to the makers for doing a phenomenal job in creating this movie! Jayasurya was a treat to watch as the main protagonist who kept the viewers guessing on his true intentions till the end. Jaffer Idukki did a phenomenal job as the innocent and honest watchman Ramachandran who despite being a poor ordinary man was steadfast in his ideals against a powerful adversary. Overall a decent watch.

Predictable story.
ajithlinux8 October 2022
Very much predictable story. Never ever this film can be classified as "thriller". Jaffer Idukky performed very well but again another "high range" role of helpless father. If anyone still planning to watch the movie, watch it with 2x speed in mobile. By halftime you will understand the story. I am wondering how it got 8.1 rating in IMDB. Hopefully it will go down. The female lead actress Namitha Pramod has nothing to do. Hope Jayasurya will get some good story soon.

This a good example of how a thriller should not be made. We need to give some credits to the producer who had guts to make a movie from such a pathetic script.

Good movie
basithvp6 October 2022
It's a nice movie. Jayasuriya and jaffarkka acted well . When this movie released I viewed it's rating is too low. But it went to high now. I think some people were waiting for giving bad reviews. I don't know what is the reason behind it. Anyway it's a ott release movie we don't expect too much. Every movie has a making of several artists and their money their time. So don't degrade some good movie. So you guys first watch the movie. Atleast this is movie from Jayasuriya. We know him. He never disappointing us because he is highly selective now. Also jaffarkka did a big role. Also movie conveyed a good message to society.

Extremely average movie. Fake rating
knvas22 October 2022
The rating is misleading to make us watch the movie. A storyline, worth only making as a short film, is unnecessarily prolonged to featured film. Not recommended to watch.

Scenes keep repeating and the actors keep telling the same thing over and again. The film did not impact emotionally though it had a social problem.

A Below average film purposefully made for making communal hatred
rmalayalamgame6 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is only a below average film that purposefully made for increasing religious hatred. Its title name Eesho is considered as a holy name by Christians. So the director purposefully used that name as title for making sensation and gets negative publicity. He puts this name for a drug addicted hero. The film contains meny elements that sufficient for making a communal riot. The hero is using a holy cross for a murder. The purpose of adding this scene in the film is also for negative publicity and making sensation. The director bought the market for this film by hatred so i am humbly requesting the readers to boycott this boring below average Christianophobic film.

Khan Review
zkzuber5 October 2022
The plot is weak because it seems unreal that justice can be possibly served so smoothly and easily. It seems very wrong shown a woman committing suicide with her kid for no fault of theirs and having a loving caring husband not disclosing anything with him. It's not justified promoting women giving in so easily letting the real culprits carrying on with the crime. The movie in short especially in the end gives a very strong message how news and social media make up stories with out any evidence and people believe it. With just a piece of paper with name & phone number of stranger can his get name involved in a racket by the media. The lead actor looks very good with beard he should keep one and acted well though I watched the hindi dubbed voice which was better than his real voice in malayalam.. Though the plot is weak but the movie was well made to keep you involved entertained not getting bored. It is recommended.

A Vengeance Plot Which is Familiar Making it One Time Watch
skmenon19935 October 2022
*** Eesho Movie Review ***

Directed by Nadirshah starring Jayasurya and Jaffer Iddique in lead role....

Penned by Suneesh Varanad

Jaffer Iddique as Ramchandran Pillai an ATM security officer facing a legal battle & behind him a death trap is following and how he faces it forms the rest part of the story...

Society is still facing the issue of girl child issue... Without knowing the crucks of it, media just slaughter the victim and family to gain the viewership but what exactly happens to them, what trauma they are going through, no one understands nor tries to understand.

A vengeance plot narrated in a slow pace...

Jaysurya and Jaffer Iddique had given a notable performance...

Nothing notable performance from Namita Pramod...

" When you do right thing, no matter whatever struggle u might face, the God , the Eesho will be ur savior at the time of need"... & " When an atrocity happens its the duty of the society to know the real truth rather by slaughtering like an animal which will tarnish the livelihood of the affected family...

story was sadly going in circles
ngandacinema10 October 2022
With a title like Eesho, we were waiting for something grand as this was a heavyweight name for a movie; however, the story was regretfully going around and around 😞

DELICIOUS

-The acting! We didn't even have to worry about it because we had our favorite actors on set: Jayasurya and Jaffar Idukki

We applaud Akshara Kishor (the little girl playing Shivani). She has a bright future in cinema!

-Eesho zoomed in on crime witnesses admonishing them to tell the truth rather than accept hush money.

-The cinematography, lighting, and sound engineering were works of precision and quality!

BLAND

-With a title like Eesho, we were expecting so much: What's gonna happen? What is Eesho gonna do? How are they gonna blow us away? Yet, the movie was narrated in a casual manner.

In the end, we wondered why the title 'Eesho' as opposed to another one

Plus, the night scenes were quite lengthy, not really headed in a particular direction.

Eesho had the ingredients of a thriller but unfortunately dragged a lot...

Just an average film. 1 time watch.
vibilraj22 October 2022
Just one time watch. Direction was not upto to the mark as compared to first 2 films of Nadrishah. Jayasuriya performance have Mohan Lal style. Normal story. Society related issue director bought. Jafar good performance. All actors performed well. Songs ok.

I would say its 1 time watch. Predictable story.

The story and climax can be made better. Feels some lag and poor direction in between.

I would give 5 out 10. The making was good. There were no bore elements. Some places felt lag. The cons of the movie was that the scenes of Jayasuriya and Jafar was too long. It would have been in small period.

Yet its a 1 time watch.
