A good episode but some MAJOR problems regarding abuse

Warning: Spoilers
Overall this episode handled the hardships and experiences unique to a single mother and deals with it in a very mature and caring way. I think the mother character was very realistic and the circumstances relatable however there is one MAJOR issue I have with the end to the episode (Spoilers). At the end of the episode we find out that the mom was abusing her three year old son. She was doing this because she was pushed so far over the edge from working and parenting and she felt like it was her sons fault. I find this very realistic and thought it made the complexity of the situation even more though provoking. However when our main character and his mother find out about this they don't blame the mother at all. They encourage her to give up her child because of her lack of financial means but they reassure her with kindness and saying that once she's financially stable she should get her kid back, I found this to be absolutely vile and disgusting. Any parent who abuses their child in any way (especially a toddler who is completely innocent) should be in JAIL and should never be allowed near their kid again until they are old enough to consent to a visit. It was disgusting how they treated her abusing her child like it was a natural consequence of being overworked and didn't blame her for it. It showed a clear lack of understanding of the severity of such a crime and the impact it can have on a child's mental health. I hope people who watch this episode realize the severity of such a crime. But like I said the episode besides this was done very well and I do think it's an accurate representation of events that can happen to a single mother and the struggles that come with it.
