Spare and very effective
Equuleus7820 September 2021
At 4 episodes this drama tells its tale quickly and confidently without a lot of the protracted misunderstandings and tortured restraint usually associated with BL outings. Leads are highly watchable.

I don't know how could anyone give this movie less than 10 stars. The acting is incredible. The emotions that the actor convey is award winning material. The story so beautiful. The camera shots and the sceens are a work of art. Pluss it incorporates very real situations. It breaks your heart.

This isn't a Boys Love Story
jmcar-0957121 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you are expecting a typical Boys Love story, you should refrain yourself from watching this miniseries... This is more than a typical BL Story, to be fair, it's a powerful drama that would bring you tears and get goosebumps by bringing real life issues about love, acceptance and being yourself.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!

"As long as we're together there is nothing to fear..." Simple start and a simple end with an amazing story in such a short duration makes it a masterpiece. There is no way I can rate it less than 10!!

Story-great Acting-great Portrayal-great.

Sometimes we fail to see character development in series that extend up to 4-5 seasons but this mini series fulfilled that difficult task with ease.

It is a must must watch and my one of my fav BL series!

True Love probably looks like this...
mikemcdo8 October 2023
This story draws you in, feels realistic and not like a Hollywood "tear jerker" or romantic fantasy. Two outsiders meet by chance, friendship evolves into love, of course with challenges ahead. The couples connection feels authentic. Issues of social and family expectations also evolve. But doesn't love involve a range of emotions and introduce many new experiences, adding to life's colour and adventure? But is "true love" really different to other forms of love? If such a construct could be reality based, I suspect this story portrays something like it. Love cannot be measured objectively and yet it is a very real experience for many/most of us; perhaps life's greatest adventure! Life on the line is a terrific metaphor used by this film. It totally captivated me and left me feeling I had just experienced something wonderful; 10/10!

The director's edition movie deserve a 10
Kittiepanda19 August 2023
Just a little more rich content of the ending like in the manga in the director edition gives you more satisfaction...you will cry more though it's more idealistic.. Just maybe 3-5 minutes long, you will watch as the title Life... so strongly recommend the director edition ( available at Gogolala site).

It's a pity that the tv series version don't include the manga ending- maybe not long enough for 5 episodes but too short for too 4 episodes?

Overall it fits 90-95% of the feeling from the manga and it's a hidden gem - neither the show nor actors get the attention they deserve - May we all have the luck to meet someone to teach us - don't think too much just live like we play a game.

Aurora of Love
sreelekhaburla27 November 2023
Japanese writers often convince us into weird plots. I think it is advantageous in a way for exploring possibilities. I liked the child inside of two grown men playing the roles of 'Agira' and 'Yuki' closely resembling the original work by Tokokura Miya. Strangely I fail to place this drama into either genres, romance and tragedy because the storyline truly mirrors an entangled existence of glee and grief. Moments conceptualized between the two leads are novel while ensuring its overall viewership sound for all ages. A snippet of contemporary CP from MODC definitely warmed hearts of BL fandom though they were not as impressive as 'BoXiang-CHihGang' to me. Many have opinionated upon this drama as an 'underrated masterpiece' and I concur. Why has it's rating dropped over the episodes during airing? No idea. One thing that lingers with me is Yuki calling Akira's name. Ending leaves you content with tears. Evidently, soul of a person extrapolates the happiest self throughout their lifetime.
